Jacob stiffened beside her suddenly. "Your boyfriend's here," he said quietly. "Maybe I should go..." "Maybe," Charlotte agreed. "See you around?" She blinked up at the young boy as he got up and moved to a more distant table. She stared back at the table again.

Charlotte raised her eyesbrows and looked at Bade. "He seems to like you just fine," she commented, hugging James against her chest. It sent a warm fuzzy feeling through her, just like hugging Bade did. It made her feel safe and happy.
