Axel stared in horror at the arch angels surrounding him, their wings spread in agression. "Leave this place, traitor. We strip you of your wings and cast you back to earth. Prove to us you are worthy and we will return your wings to you, but you will have to work a miracle to gain admittance here again." The lead angel proceeded to spin the boy around and took hold of the top of the ba[injection]se of his wings, right where they joined his shoulder blades, and ripped, pulling them away from the skin as easily as one would pull a grape from a vine. Axel screamed in agony, tears streaming from his eyes. As soon as the last feather was plucked from his back, the angel fell, fast. The top of a building rushed at him, blurring in his watery vision. He closed his eyes and curled into a fetal position, just before he hit the roof. He was sure he heard bones crack and break, but still not completely human, they healed up nearly immediately, though the pain lingered and made him scream out in agony.
He couldn't remember what he'd done to get them so angry at him. Why...what had he possibly done to deserve this?
Slowly, Axel stood, wobbling on his unsteady legs and leaning over the side of the roof to vomit. A shrill scream came from the ground, and Axel blushed furiously, guessing he must have accidentally vomited on a girl.
Frowning, he drew a hand through his hair and glanced down at himself, realizing his white robe had been exchanged for a black t-shirt and dark blue jeans, which had gotten torn and ripped during his fall. He had no money and no way to get any new clothes, so he quietly resigned himself to the life of a homeless person, a hobo if you will, and jumped from the roof, landing heavily and jarring his bones.
The boy took in his surroundings. It seemed to be a school campus of sorts, and he guessed classed had just started.. The leaves on the trees boasted a wide array of colors, from vibrant green, to dry and brittle brown, and the grass below him was starting to die.
Where am I? He wondered briefly. He guessed it was somewhere in the states, but he couldn't be sure. He looked around for a sign, but found none and sighed. He felt utterly lost and helpless. What on Earth would he do from here? The fell angel made his way out onto the road, following it for a while until the sun started to set and he had to stop and rest.

With 'Gimme That Girl' playing softly through my radio, I road down a more lonely road that led to my apartment complex. This was my first year at living by myself, I begrudgingly admit that I lived with my parents for 18 years. The second I turned 19, I was out of there. Though I had a good relationship with my dad, he tended to favor my more successful brother, and my step mom was fine. I had no real relationship with her, so me leaving wasn't as dramatic as it usually is with kids.
I tapped to the country beat on the wheel, finally realizing as another car drove by that it was time to turn my headlights on. I hated that about driving. When I'd rather forget and day dream, I had to think about everything that was going on. Sighing, I turned my headlights on.
I gasped.The second I did, a silhouette of a man came into view and I slammed the breaks, hoping to God I wouldn't hit him. By the time the wheels stopped turning on the road, I was a mere foot from the man. My heart was hammering in my chest so loudly I could swear I heard it. Taking a moment to breathe, I put a hand on my heart before jumping out of my little jeep and coming to the man.
"Listen, I'm really sorry. I didn't see you in time to stop."
I said, my cheeks pale at the thought of hitting him. "What are you doing out here, walking on the side of the road this late at night?" Finally finding my breath, my lush green eyes surveyed him. He had black hair, and shredded clothing. He looked as though he's been on the streets for days.
I put my hands on my hips, my head shaking. "You got a place to sleep tonight, right?" What if he was just a creep? The idea that we were on a dead road with no one else around, just a innocent college student that just moved out of her home, and a ragged looking homeless man... Who knows, maybe he was so hungry, he'd eat me.
Swallowing, I backed up a bit, waiting for his answer but kept my legs pressed against the front of jeep so that I was close enough to my drivers door to run in and drive away if he tried any funny business. "My dad's a cop." I whispered, lifting my head up as though I had any confidence that that will keep the creep from getting up on me.
Or. Maybe he was just a nice, homeless man that had a harder life. I guess I'd have to wait and see.

The sudden flash of lights and shrill of squealing breaks made Axel flinch and turn his head away, hoping he didn't die now. Slowly, he looked back up as he heard a car door open and he took a few steps back, opening his mouth to speak.
"I should be the one saying sorry. I'm...I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing here, honestly...A-and no, I was planning to find a tree or something to sleep in." At that whisper, he held his hands up with the palms forward and took another step back, managing to impale a shard of glass in his heel and wincing, cursing humans and their being careless enough to leave dangerous objects in the middle of the road.

A relieved sigh escaped my lungs when he apologized. He seemed nice enough. And besides, my dad taught me how to shoot a gun when I was young. I'll be fine with this guy. Hopefully.
I was about to go to my car and have the conversation done for when I saw him wince, a myriad of glass on the road from a bear bottle. I winced with him, coming over while I chewed on my lip.
"Oh gosh. That looks bad."
I said, looking at his heel from where I stood. "Alright. Fine." I mumbled to myself, walking over and wrapping a slender arm around his waist to help him walk. "Walk to the passenger side of the Jeep. We have to take care of the cut."

The fallen angel blushed intensely at her touch and limped to the side of the Jeep, playing along even though he knew it'd probably already healed, unless the glass was still partly sticking out of his heel.
Axel acted like he couldn't stand on his own and leaned against the Jeep for support as she opened the door, picking his foot up to examine it briefly. He'd been right, the glass was sticking out of his foot about four inches. He couldn't imagine it not healing up within seconds after taking the glass out, and this made him a bit wary. What would she say? She'd probably take him to a science facility somewhere to be tested on.
As soon as she'd opened the door and cleared the seat out, he let her help him up onto it, blushing even harder.

Once I made sure the homeless man was in my passenger side, I was half tempted to check and make sure he had nothing in his pockets to cut my throat. Swallowing at the image, I held back the desire as I closed the door and walked to the other side of the Jeep.
Sliding in the drivers side and turning on the ignition, I looked down at his foot with a wince. "Looks like it hurts bad." I said as I started on the road again, turning the volume of the country station all the way down so I can talk to him.
"So, seeing as I'm going to help you out, you might as well tell me your name."
I said, giving him a smile before looking back at the window.

Axel stared at the car floor between his legs and listened to the radio for a moment before turning his gaze to her eyes. He couldn't help but think that she had the most beautiful eyes he thought he'd ever seen, and it took him a second to realize that he was staring at her. He quickly shifted his gaze to the road in front of them. "My name? Oh... It's A-axel. And...thank you. You know, for not running me over back there and helping me." He turned again, looking up at her under his lashes.

A smile came to my face at his thanks. Uh, right, because if I hadn't seen him, he'd be a goner right now. My green eyes stayed fixed on the road when I realized he was staring. I swallowed, wondering what was going through his mind. Maybe he was thinking that I wanted to eat him - the way I had thought about him when we first met.
"It's no problem, Axel."
I said, shooting him a charming smile.
"I'm Dawn Wood, by the way."
I added, just as I pulled into the apartment complex. I got out of the drivers side and walked to his side. Stretching an arm out to wrap around his waist, I waited for him to scoot out.
