Ooc:// I think that I'll have Vanna do something to upset Shiki between now and the end of the dinner that they're having. Vanna should be punished- I'll leave that to Rururururu's imagination. Then she'll go to find Namir later that night, having escaped. Things will go on from there. XD If anyone objects to this idea, please say so.

Shiki smiled at Raul's comment, still coughing into his hand. He nodded and leaned down, gulping in air his lungs so desperately needed. When he finally stopped and rejoined them and smiled. "Dear me. Sorry. It's just that Raun has never said that about anybody I've known. Elf or noble or anything in between." He hit his chest a little and cleared his throat. He nodded. "Well then, I hope that dinner will b-"
"Raun!!! Get your lazy butt out here and help me unpack the caravan for the night! There are things in here that can't be left anywhere but in my safe care!" The man's voice boomed from the sitting room and quick heel clicks were heard coming toward the kitchen. Their uncle burst through the doors and looked at the guests. "Ah! Mister Raul, I didn't think you'd still be around. Excuse my entrance." He bowed and walked over to Raun, grabbing the boy by his bicep and pulling him up. "Go help clear the caravan and tighten that collar." He pushed Raun toward the door and grabbed Wyn's collar, tightening then clasping it.
Raun stumbled slightly and nodded. "I apologize Sir." He quickly ran out the dining room door and made his way outside. He stripped himself off the most expensive clothing. The tail coat and the satin shirt he had on before he began to help the men outside unload one of the caravan cars, which happened to have some expensive looking silks and fabrics in it.

Raul noticed exactly how Vanna reacted and didn't throw the other girl any more looks for now, he didn't want to make her bright red and flustering if her master asked something of her. Hmm Raun was quite taken with Namir, even though her personally thought she was more beautiful in her natural form. Maybe the man would be useful? Maybe if he got him alone before he left he could find out.
Namir easily heard Shiki's comment. Her smiles were actually quite dazzling when she was complimented she was told, and her smile had been genuine but not out of place in her current facade fortunately. But many others had informed her her natural calm exterior brightened considerably when she let her happiness show. Her true complete smiles were rare, and charmed those privileged to see them. But with all the makeup expertly painted on her face, the joy didn't shine through perfectly enough for that. Raul stood, eyeing the big man critically. "Ah, it is good to finally meet the man for whom I shall be serving most faithfully!" He bowed slightly. "I was looking forward to meeting you. And your most generous sons offered me supper this evening." Raul could deal with any type of man as he had been trained in courtly rules all his life. Acting correctly could determine if the person was friend or enemy in the highborn world. Namir rose from her seat and turned to the Uncle and bowed gracefully, not saying a word. Raul wouldn't introduce her unless the man inquired about who she was. To the owner she was just a slave after all... (( That sounds good to me! And what is this uncles name? lol I can't just call him uncle unless i missed it on previous posts... o.O ))

Zawynaias didn't struggle against Vince, but he slightly gagged when he felt the collar press against his throat a bit too much. However, he got over the feeling shortly afterward, staring blankly at the air in front of his face, silver eyes slightly watery from the sudden tightening of his collar. He looked over to his sitter, who was looking anywhere but at Raul.
Sylvanna was trying to stay focused and calm, but the presence of Vince didn't help anything. She knew good and well that this man was worse than Shiki. She wasn't paying attention for a moment and she lost her drop on the glass that she was drinking out of, the water spilling onto the silver tablecloth, the expensive glass shattering on the floor. She would have cursed aloud, but that would have made her situation worse. She already knew she was going to be punished, but maybe cleaning up would soften the punishment, she thought. She and her twin stood from their seats simultaneously and began to pick up the pieces of broken glass, making sure to not let the pieces slice their pale fingers.

"Ah yes, it's nice to make your acquai-" His thoughts were cut off when he heard the glass shatter. The slave girl had dropped it and he knew Shiki would be furious, but his anger got the best of him and he let out an angry roar. It could give a lion a run for its money. He grabbed Vanna by her wrist and pulled her up, not caring if the pieces of glass she once held were now dropping to the floor. "You really think this is some kind of playhouse?! That you can go dropping my expensive dishes just because my idiot of a nephew Raun let you drink form the pretty glasses today?! I think not you insolent slave!" He picked up a piece of glass and shoved it into her hand before he threw her to the ground, making sure she had landed on all the glass possible. He even made sure her face would get some kind of sratch, even if it was a little one.
At that moment, Raun walked in, about to tell his uncle that he was done. All he saw was the stabbing of glass in Vanna's pale hand and the harsh throw to the glass covered floor. He gasped and looked at his uncle. "You!! What the hell are you doing to our elves?! They aren't yours to be ha-"
Shiki ran over and cupped his brother's mouth, not wanting him to get the same treatment. He knew his uncle would. "He didn't mean what he said! He apologizes for that outburst. You can handle the slaves any way you want." He struggled to keep his hand over his brother's mouth and even endured his hand getting bitten by his brother's sharp canine teeth. He elbowed his brother in the gut once and caught him as he doubled over.
"That's what I thought he had said." He looked at Wyn. "You! Clean this mess and take this slave girl to the slave quarters. Don't bother giving her a cot tonight. She thinks she can treat my stuff like this, then she can get her things taken as well." He looked at Raul. "I apologize, but now isn't a good time for me to meet with you. I shall see you tomorrow morning so you may look over the caravans and do what you must." He walked out of the dining room, slamming the door shut. The chandelier on the ceiling rattled.

It had all happened so quickly for Raul, but he had followed everything with a sharp eye. "Sir Raul, Sir Shiki, I think I may take my leave soon. I thank you graciously for your invitation to deal with, but I had just remembered that I had another client to meet in a late hour and it is a small trip from here." Lie. All of them knew it was a lie, but it was only polite to remove himself from such a situation. This was an unsteady household, and he would see what the business was like soon. But mostly he wanted to get Namir out of here.
Namir stood stock still as soon as the glass shattered. She had known the moment it had slipped through the girl's fingers that it would bear ill will for Vanna. Her form did not waver an inch has the Uncle snarled oaths, grabbing the girl. She stood still as a winter lake as he shoved the glass in her hand. It was the only thing she could do in these situations. If she let herself move in one swift motion the uncle would probably be dead, the knife hidden in her bodice buried deep in the back of his neck. It would have been an easy throw. She stared at the door the man had retreated behind, completely lacking emotion of any kind. "Namir!" Raul's voice was loud, commanding. Her head snapped towards him, staring at him for a second. The she almost seemed to restart herself, the blank ex pression melting into a obediently calm one, "Yes Master Raul." She glided over to stand closely behind him. She glanced once over at the elves, catching Vanna's eye for a half second. 'Stand tall young one. I hope you remember what I said.' She looked indirectly at Raun and Shiki, giving them both a curtsey, but kept her silence. Raul gave a small bow. "I shall see you in the early morning Sirs." He turned towards the door, the pair of them disappearing towards the main hall. He hoped their servants were not to slow in notifying his driver his carriage must be brought around to the front.

Vanna didn't expect to be grabbed so suddenly. She thought Vince would have waited until after dinner to punish her. Wyn didn't expect it either. His eyes widened as he saw his sister's hand being sliced open when Vince shoved a piece of rough glass into her hand. He especially didn't expect Vanna to make any noise.
Though Sylvanna was a tough girl, she let out a pained yelp as she was thrown to the ground, her silver eyes closing shut in a wince. Several tears made their way down her cheeks, stinging as they washed over a shallow cut that a piece of glass had caused on her cheekbone. As soon as she realized she was crying, Sylvanna shut off the waterworks. She hardly ever cried in public.
Zawynaias bit his lip as it all happened. He couldn't do a damn thing, and he knew it. He knew that if he moved to protect his sister, he would have ended up defending her instead of shielding her, 'accidentally' landing several blows to his master's uncle.
Vanna let out the slightest whimper when she heard Vince leave, followed by the departure of Raul and Namir. Her silver eyes opened a smidgeon as she felt her brother pick her up in his arms and gently move her so that he could clean. When the cleaning was sone, Wyn picked his twin up again. Several more tears slipped out of Vanna's eyes.
In an attempt to comfort his sister, Zawynaias kissed her forehead, but that just made his sister break down into full blown sobs, burying her face in his neck. She was obviously hurt, both mentally and physically. She could still fell the glass in her hand, hitting tender nerves. Wyn turned to Raun and Shiki.
Over his sister's sobs, he said, "Good day Master Shiki, Master Raun." he executed a perfected bow with his sister in his arms, turned around, and headed for the slave quarters.

Raun was angry now. He hated when this happened. His brother was too much of a coward to defend them and too much of a coward to stand up to his uncle. It was horrible. He let out a human growl and bit down hard on his brother's hand, forcing him to let go. Raun turned around and grabbed his brother's collar, pulling him flush against himself and met his icy blue eyes with Shiki's amber ones. "WHY.DID.YOU.STOP.ME!!! I could have done something! You know well that I could have handled our uncle! You understand that this is something that wouldn't happen if you had let me go!" He hissed out and shoved his brother away from himself.
Shiki landed on his butt just as Wyn and Vanna had left. He looked up at his angry little brother and shook his head. "Yes, you COULD have handled it, but you SHOULDN'T because he is the kind of man that WOULD hit you and he WOULDN'T feel a thing when he did it! He won't hit me because I obey him. He will hit you! I can't let that happen, but if you want to get beaten, then be my guest!" Shiki stood up and walked out of the dining hall, needing to cool down. He walked up to his bedroom and flopped down on his bed, not bothering to change.
Raun looked at the door and started to pace. He had to calm down before he went to see his elves. He knew he had to do something to make sure she was okay. His heel broke a shard of glass and he looked down. The shattered glass was still there, so he bend down and started to pick it up. He winced slightly as shards cut his skin, but he kept cleaning. When he was satisfied, he walked to the kitchen, asked for two plates of food and a bottle of wine before he took the glass to the trash bin. He cleaned his hand off and took the food and bottle. "Thank you.. I appreciate how you still cook for the elves even if you don't exactly like them." He smiled at the chef and walked out, headed toward the slave quarters and opened the door. "Vanna, Wyn... I brought you food." He peeked in.

Most of the elves in the slave quarters were either too preoccupied to acknowledge Vanna's soft sobs or they were too desensitized to such situations. It was a common occasion for slaves to come down crying or bleeding. This had never happened to Sylvanna though. She hadn't cried in public in years. She'd never cried in public here. Zawynaias laid her gently down on one of the stiff cots, despite Vince's orders. He doubted his master's uncle would come to check up on any of the slaves.
Wyn had scrounged up some medical supplies from nearby shelves and was rubbing alcohol on Vanna's cheek wounds when he heard his master's voice come from the doorway. Sylvanna dried her eyes and sniffled once more before she retained the blank stare that most slaves sported. Her silver eyes were dull, and the fire that she once had was momentarily extinguished, her eyes red and puffy. The alcohol hadn't helped soothe the pain, either.
"Hello, master," Zawynaias said, while Sylvanna let out a single glance in his direction. She would properly thank him for standing up for her later, and not in such a public area. Slaves bustled about in the quarters, arranging the cots, dressing and undressing, and bedding down for the night. Half of them were gone to give a nightly change of clothes to the people in the castle.
"Thankyou for being so kind as to bring us some food. Dinner was adjourned rather early..." He pursed his lips together, and walked towards his master to retrieve the food.

(( Sorry I've been incredibly busy last few days guys :( Adding my post to this in a minute! ))
Namir and Raul sat quietly for a long while in the carriage, the only sounds the rumble of wooden tires over dirt and gravel, and the shod hooves of the horses clopping rythmically along. Raul knew not to say much when Namir was in this mood, for she said very little back and it was fruitless to try and start a conversation. It was better to let her work through her own thoughts rather than try and console her. This was the reason he was against slavery. Not that he thought the concept was completely horrible, he just didn't think the population on whole could honor it correctly. Slaves were meant to be cherished if they were unfortanate enough to be put in the situation. No slave that was beaten and abused would love or really care for their master. Therefore he believed it was better to abolish it entirely... He had household slaves who were for the most part normal slaves. But all of them had been explained to very carefully when bought that they would be paid like a servant rather than a slave, but it depended on how well their work was done. Their money was theirs to have, to keep, or use at the end of every month. And if a slave wished to leave his household he would free them outside of the country in any direction they wished. He had never had a slave leave on their own will yet. A few had grown sickly and died and one or two had been quite a problem. Those he either purposely sold without their knowing until the last minute, or simply booted them out the door on a whim with none of their money. Raul was generous when served correctly and everyone knew he was rather cruel when duped or wronged. But it kept his slaves happy, and his customers warily polite and on time with payments. Namir was angry but she had seen the same scene a hundred times before. Slave had an accident, and the master punished them. She had seen everything from whippings to a slave killed on the spot, neck broken. Always her reaction was the same for she could not let herself defend them. One day though... She would be able to do what she wanted. Then her memorized list of people would not be very happy. She intended every single one of them to expierence exactly what they had done to their elves. They wouldn't expect it, but oh yes... it would happen one day...

Ooc:// I have a pretty good nickname for you, Shifter: Shifty.
If that's okay with you, I'd like to call you that from now on. It's short and catchy. And it's fine that you can't get on very often. Rurururu hasn't been on in a few days, so I'm just waiting on her.

((so sorry!!!))
Raun smiled and looked at Vanna and Wyn. "It's okay. I didn't expect my uncle to react like that so quickly. Normally when guests are here, he doesn't react unless the guest seems bothered by what one of his elves did. And normally, he won't really touch you guys unless he's adjusting the collar." He sighed and sat down on one of the empty cots, facing the twins. He didn't really like this. His uncle sending Vanna to the glass covered floor and then sending her to the dirty little slave quarters with open wounds. He sighed and rubbed his temples.
"Anyways, you two should really eat. I would prefer that you guys have some food in your bellies so that you don't have to starve tonight. I know he'll check on you in a while, so be sure to hide the rest or share it with the others." He motioned to the other elves that seemed underfed and much too skinny. "Now, I should be going before my uncle comes for me next. I hope your wounds heal more by tomorrow Vanna, and do not worry about my brother's food tomorrow, I'll give it to him personally." He hissed out the last word. The hidden meaning behind it was a slight warning and a slight threat. He bowed to them a little and turned on his heel before he opened the door and stepped out. "Oh yes, Good bye Vanna and Wyn." He smiled and closed the door.

Sylvanna had turned her back to the boy while several more tears rolled down her cut-up face. She didn't like the feeling of the salty water on the injuries, but it would have to be tolerated. She needed to let it all out, lest she be sobbing in the middle of the night, keeping her dearest brother awake.
Zawynaias had listened to his master, though he had been more focused on comforting his sister, stroking her back and lightly holding her hand. Some people believed that the two shared some sort of bond that was closer than marriage would even be. Of course, though their times allowed marriages between cousins, there would never be an open acceptance about love between twins- even if elves long ago purposefully married twins, believing that they were destined to be together forever, just as they were in their mothers' womb.
Either way, the twins were nothing more than siblings, contrary to what some others may believe.
When his master left, Zawynaias turned his attention to the food. He scarfed his down like any teenage boy would, though he was nearly a man now. In his mind, he already was a man. He began to try to convince his sister to eat.
"Please, Sylvanna. You need to eat. You've been through a lot today, sister." The red-headed elf looked down at his sister sympathetically. He wondered if she would have scars. She'd been beaten before, and didn't scar easily, so he guessed that only the worst and deepest cuts that she'd obtained would scar from this experience.
"No, Zawynaias. I will not eat. It'll make me sick." She pursed her lips together and stood from her spot. "I need to put on my sleeping clothes, anyway. And so do you, brother." She allowed her silver eyes to travel to his in a half-glare as she turned her back to him and began to change into her night clothes. She wore a simple old gown that she guessed was made out of some cotton. The fabric was a bit torn in certain places, though it showed nothing inappropriate, and the color had faded. Sylvanna guessed that it was once probably a beautiful jade green.
Zawynaias's was a faded grey tunic and a pair of trousers that used to be black at one time. He finished changing first, and ruffled his hair. It felt so good to do that, especially after it had been in the same place all day. He watched as his sister took her hair down. Some elven men got wolf-looking eyes when she did let her hair down, because it was so beautiful down. He wished that she was allowed to wear her hair down more often, but part of her slave uniform was to wear it up in a manicured bun.
The long, crimson tresses of hair fell over Sylvanna's pointed ears and she ran her fingers through them. They were in loose waves, and they travelled past her elbows. She immediately felt the tension in the skin around the top of her head leave.
The two climbed into their cots, though Sylvanna just sat on the edge of hers. Zawynaias turned to face his twin, and Sylvanna met him with a cautious look. "Brother. I have to go somewhere tonight. I wish to speak with someone."
"Where are you going, dear sister?" Zawynaias's tone was worried, and his brows furrowed as he propped his head up on his rough palm.
"It doesn't matter, but it's important. I know of an exit to the south of the gate that is unguarded at night. I'll be back in no more than two hours. I promise." She moved over to him and kissed his cheek in a sisterly way before exiting through an open window in the slave quarters, her hair trailing behind her like a flame.

Raun couldn't sleep. He hated today, he hated this family, he hated his life. It was days like these he was glad his room had a balcony. Southfacing, since he disliked the morning sun and disliked it when it was right in his face. He sighed and opened the double glass doors that led to his little balcony. His royal red tunic hung loose on him and his trousers were long enough to cover his foot. He walked out, his bare feet making light slapping noises on the concrete and the fabric of his trousers lightly rasped the concrete.
(sorry! It;s very very short!! I have writers block right now since this is kind of Vanna's thing and Raul's thing meeting... o.o)
