Taylor heard the sound of knocking at her door. She listened quietly as she attempted to distinguish Seth's knock. She let out a small sigh of relief when she realized it was her old friend. She opened the door quickly and smiled when saw Seth, but fell into a defensive crouch when she noticed someone behind her. She stood frozen, as she realized it was Maksis. He glanced up at her warily before slumping against the railing. "Mind if I come back in, Sis? I think I need to lie down and Seth's holding me captive," Maksis said though he smiled to show he was joking.

"Thank you, Seth," Taylor said and skipped down the steps and grabbed Maksis' hand. He recoiled in surprise, letting out an unsuspected hiss. Taylor jumped back swiftly and Maksis closed his eyes, trying to regain his calm. "I'm sorry," He muttered and allowed himself to be pulled through the door by Taylor.

Brian didn't say anything, he just stared at her.  "I'm Brian." He finally answered, pretending not to hear her other question.

"I don't care whether or not you wanted to!" Crystal cried out.  "Stupid vampires like you always try to kill poor humans, and you don't even care!" She crossed her arms, and muttered a curse under her breath.  People think that Crystal is just some friendly pink haired girl, but truthfully she isn't, and curses.  She didn't know what else to say, so instead she just thought of ways to live as a vampire.  She knew she had to kill people, but she didn't want to.  But then one word popped up in her mind, the word 'sun'.  Yes, that was it!  When the sun came up she could go outside and burn herself and die.  It would probably hurt a lot, but she still didn't care.  And besides, Christian probably wouldn't care if she was gone.  Judging from his attitude, Crystal as.sumed that he really doesn't care about anyone but himself.

Then she realized that she was getting a little hungry.   Oh just great, what if her hunger made her kill a human before she could burn herself?  "Being a vampire sucks." She mumbled, trying to hold back the tears.  She tried to remind herself that she would be fine, when the sun came up she would be gone.  But what if she didn't want to do it by the time the sun came up?  She was still a little weak, too, but strength was returning to her.  She glanced at Christian, but had to look away before she got too angry and tried attacking him.

Taelin found herself in the midst of the forest. An it was getting cooler by the hour. She rubbed her arms in attempt to keep warm, it was a mistake to go on her hike and not bring some sort of jacket. She sighed to stop and sit under a tall oak tree to think and just implore in all the hidden beauty in this area. She mostly admired the white rose bush that had decided to take root directly in the center of this forest clearing. The majesty and beauty of it simply amazed her...

Maksis slumped back against the couch and continued to watch Taylor. The red rim around his eyes scared her, but she knew that her brother was still there. She pulled up next to him on the couch and wrapped her arm around his waist. After a moment of hesitation, he squeezed her hand lightly. "I'm sorry I did this to you. I thought it would be best if I left, but we're still brother and sister for now," He said and Taylor immediately discarded the for now part of that sentence.

"It's not your fault, Maks. We'll get through this," Taylor said and a smile quirked at the edge of his lips. He rested his head back against the couch and parted his lips. They seemed blood-red compared to his pale face. "We both know that's not going to happen." He said and Taylor scowled. "It's been two weeks Maks. We need to get you some...food before you..." She broke off and cast her gaze away angrily.

She felt hopeless that she couldn't help her brother, but also knew that he could be doing something about it. He was a vampire, after all. Why couldn't he just accept the fact that he wasn't human any more? Human rules don't apply to him. Maksis surprised her with his next words. "I'm going to live the rest of my life human, no matter how much time is left. I'm not going to die a monster," He said. Taylor began to give a reply, but he had closed his eyes and had fallen asleep.

Taylor kissed the top of his forehead and pulled herself off of the couch. She walked into the kitchen and the smell of coffee grinds was stronger in the kitchen. "Seth, are you trying to disguise our scent from him? I could smell it from the living room." She said and breathed in a deep breath of the smell. She sat down at the kitchen counter on one of the bar stools. "What are we going to do about him? We both know Maks needs blood, but you know he won't..." She said, exhasperated. "Why does he have to be so stubborn?"

Taylor glanced uneasily at the wicked curve of the knife. She moved her gaze over to Maksis and even in his sleep, his jaw was clenched and his muscles were tight. She knew she would do whatever it took to save her brother, but would he forgive her for this? She pushed her troublesome thoughts away.

"You're right Seth. I couldn't thank you enough for being here with me." She said. "We have to do this fast and we have to clean you up before he wakes up. I'm pretty sure if I did it, he would recognize my smell, but...are you sure you want to do this?" She asked, already feeling horrible that her friend had to do this for her and Maksis' sake.
