Cain had never danced. The two things on his side were his uncanny ability to copy people from observation and his fit body. With every move Jessica made, he mirrored in his own way, with his own crude and more straightforward style. Every turn was sharper, more controlled than the way Jessica's and most of the other girls' moves were. He turned with the others and only a light smattering of sweat peaked at his brows, along with a damp part on his neck where his locks had heated his neck. He ran his hands through his white-blonde hair and stopped with the other dancers. He didn't bother looking at Sky, really not wanting her to give him another chance to be hated. Still, when he looked among the other dancers, his eyes skimmed over hers and he swallowed when he saw her eyes on him, looking at him in the mirror. Strange, he mused to himself. He wiped his forehead, the right side of his shirt lifting up to reveal some of his hip and a section of his abs. He waited for Jessica to either dismiss them or send them into another bout of twirls and movements that Cain would perfect to his own style.

Sky felt herself blush even more. She turned to the side of the room that her bag was at, and opened it up, grabbing a bottle of water. Is he teasing me? Sky thought. She gulped down the water, and used her arm to wipe her forehead, where only a few drops of sweat had gathered. Surely not. Jessica looked around to the others. "You guys can go home now. We'll be practicing every day after school at the same time," she said between breaths. Sky pulled her bag over her shoulder and hesitated. She didn't want to leave. She would only come face to face with her father, who would most likely be drunk and crazy as hell. She sighed, and got up. She walked over to the group of others; the belly of the beast for her. She could already feel herself getting nervous and shy. Think of Rachel. She would be so proud of me, trying to socialize for once, she said, staring at her feet.

Cain went to the back of the room to stuff his sweat shirt into his bag. Once he did that, he slung his bag over his shoulder and yawned when Jessica told them they were dismissed. One brow cocked upward as he saw Skyelar approach the other groupies, his crimson eyes following her backside for a moment before he grew disinterested and began to walk away. I wonder which one of those she's targeting for a fight this time, Cain thought to himself as he pushed open the doors of the dance room. He exited the building quickly and stopped by the vending machines to grab himself a water. He took a swig from the Aquafina bottle as he walked outside, setting his bag down on the concrete sidewalk and leaning against the building as he did so. He honestly didn't want to leave just yet, though his car was parked and waiting for him in the student parking lot.

Sky soon found herself to be the only one left in the room. She sighed, and walked out. She hadn't said a word to the others. Mark and Dara tried to get her to talk by complimenting her on her hair and her clothes, but she simply couldn't speak. Words wouldn't come out. She exited the building, only to be met by her father at the door. He was the one person she couldn't fight or run from. He had an empty beer can in his left hand, staggering around. "Skyelar," he said, his voice slurred. "Why didn't you come home on time, you little... you little ditch." Skyelar's dad tried to curse, but he was so drunk that he couldn't get his words right. "You should have at least called me or something, you stupid girl," he spat. Skyelar looked down, and walked up to her dad. "C'mon, Dad. Let's go home and get you cleaned up," she said reaching out to grab his hand reluctantly. Skyelar's dad snatched his hand away, whacking it across Skyelar's face. "I don't need any help, you stupid little thing." He staggered, stretching his words out, falling onto the ground with a large thud. He had passed out, and Skyelar had to drag him home or wait for him to wake up. She was a bit scared that if she touched him that he would wake up and hit her again. She could already feel the stinging sensation on her cheek fading, but she didn't want to risk getting her nose broken. Sitting down on the grass of the school, Skyelar watched her father's motionless figure silently.

"Skyelar." The voice of an older man followed by a few slurred words had Cain grabbing his bag and running to the source of the noise. Whether it was Skyelar or some other kid, he was going to find out what was going on. He rounded a corner of a school building just as Skyelar's father hit Skyelar herself across the face. He blinked once and sighed when the man hit the ground. He approached both of them, giving Skyelar a wordless look, void of sympathy, before reaching down to sling the man's arm across Cain's shoulders. He hefted the heavy man up and blinked once before turning his crimson gaze back to the girl that hated him. "I have a car in the parking lot," he said and waited for her to either tell him to get lost or accept his help.

Surprisingly, Sky felt tears sting at the corner of her eyes. It wasn't the fact that her father had just hit her. It was the fact that the boy that she had just hit earlier in the day was willing to help her. It made her feel guilty and sad. Sky sniffled, and wiped the corner of her eyes, nodding. She couldn't speak. If she did, there was no telling what it would come out as. For all she knew, her voice could come out even more unintelligable that her father's. She swallowed a lump in her throat, and prayed that her father wouldn't wake up. The last thing she needed was for her father to hit the one person that offered to help.

Cain's muscles flexed as he supported the limp man. He carried Skyelar's father across the school lot, thankful that he'd parked close to the grounds today. When he reached his black Mustang convertible--though the top was up--he opened the door to the back and slid the man in. He fished his keys from his pockets and pointed to the passenger side door before ducking into the driver's seat. The smell of alcohol probably came from the man's breath, but he revved the engine and ignored the guy as best he could. "Where am I heading?" Cain asked.

Skyelar got into the car also, swallowing again. She reluctantly said, "707 West Springfield Road." She looked forward, pushing a lock of hair behind her ear and out of her eyes. She was officially embarassed. She had to have someone carry her drunk father to their car and then drive her home. She would probably have to fish around in her dad's jacket pockets to find the keys, anyway, which wouldn't be the best part of her day, given that the man smelled like a walking liquor store. She waited for the car to start moving.

Cain didn't say a word, only nodded and backed the car out of the lot. He figured this was why Sky's attitude was what it was, but there was no reason for him to attempt to be sympathetic to her. He only wanted to take her home and drop her and her father off, but that's only what he kept telling himself. He drove to her house in silence and pulled the car up along the curb. He cut the engine and climbed out of his seat to drag the passed out man from the car. With a grunt, he slung the man's arm over his shoulder again and lifted him up. "I'll take him in," Cain said.

Skyelar got out of the car, multi-colored eyes looking at nothing but her father's sagging jacket pocket. She reached into it and pulled out the keys, walking up to the house and jamming the key in and unlocking the door, all the while trying not to break down. Her hands were shaking, and she walked into the house, motioning for Cain to follow. She didn't like this place. The only thing she had to look forward to was her dog, who might seem vicious to others. "Fenrir," Sky called into the house, her voice a bit hoarse. The jingling of metal hitting metal sounded as a large doberman walked into the living room, looking out of the door that Sky had left open for Cain and letting out a low growl. "Be a good boy," she said, reaching out to stroke her loyal hound's head. He welcomed her touch, and leaned into her hand, letting out a long, dog-like sigh as he did. She looked at Cain, her eyes darting nervously from him to Fenrir.

Cain didn't mind animals, and he never had a special connection to his own. The sight of the Doberman, which most everyone knew were protective dogs, had Cain making sure he didn't give the dog eye contact. He didn't want to challenge the canid. He pinpointed the nearest couch and rested Skyelar's father down on it. When he straightened, he hesitated for a moment before approaching her. He cleared his throat and hesitantly touched her shoulder, his somber face looking a bit more downcast as he looked at her. "It's not your fault," he said before removing his hand and leaving for the door.

Skyelar felt chills go down her spine. Whether it was from the feeling she got when Cain touched her or the fact that she could feel the tension building in the room every time her father twitched, anticipating when he would wake up and try to hit something in a drunken rage. She felt Fenrir's amber eyes go to hers, and she reached out, grabbing Cain by the shoulder. She cleared her throat and let out one word; "Thankyou." She let go of his arm, and turned around. She wasn't going to bother closing the door. She had a feeling that Cain would do it as he left.

He blinked when he felt Sky's hand on his shoulder. Cain half turned to give her a nod to show he acknowledged the thanks. On his way out, he shut the door behind him and headed to his car with his hands in his pockets. When Cain finally managed to pull his car into his parent's driveway, he wasn't surprised to see both of his parents' cars gone. He entered his house after pulling his own set of keys from his pocket and stepped inside. He'd done all of his homework at school and Cain found himself tiredly slipping to bed. He shrugged both his shirt and pants off, and rested his hands behind the back of his head as he stres up at the ceiling. Cain was a quiet thinker, and he fell asleep to the silence he'd grown used to over the years. --time skip?--

((Sure. Morning time~))
Skyelar woke up to find a strange number on her phone. She had never seen the number before, but, nevertheless, the answered it.
"Hello?" Sky said, rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
"Hi, Sky," Dara's voice came through loud and clear from the speaker.
"You do know that it's like... in the morning." Sky's voice was blank, void of most emotion due to her sleepiness.
"Yes. I know. Mark and I were wondering if you would like to go to the mall. All of the dance line members are coming. I think someone's calling Cain right now."
Sky felt her stomach twist at the thought. Mall. Ick.
"Sure I'll come," she said, trying to be nice. "What time?"
"Meet us at the entrance at noon." Dara sounded pleased. "Don't be late~"
"Yes. Bye," Sky said, hanging up her phone and groggily getting out of her bed.

"Come on, Cain. Pleaseeee come," babbled a rather squeaky voice--in Cain's opinion--in Cain's ear. The girl had been flirting with him over the phone as she attempted to get him to come to the mall. He sighed into the phone and stared up at the ceiling, his feet kicked up on the armchair of his couch.
"Sara...Sara, right?" he asked tiredly as he closed his crimson eyes. "I really don't want to do this today. It's just a small punishment; I'm not dancing because I want to."
That wasn't going to stop this persistent girl that easily. "I /saw/ you dance, Cain. You've got talent and," her voice soured just a bit. "Skyelar seems to appreciate it." She snorted and Cain could almost imagine the roll of the girl's eyes.
"Look, Sara. I'm not interested in Sky, nor am I interested in shopping." His voice was cold, his typical monotone voice chipping off just a bit to make room for his cold words.
"Yeah, you got something better to do?" she practically giggled demonically in the phone. "See you there, Cain," she said huskily and Cain shuddered as he clasped his cell phone shut.
With a sigh, Cain stood from his couch and shrugged on his jacket. Feeling a bit defeated, deflated, and /disinterested/, Cain hopped into his car and kicked up some gravel on his way to the mall. He figured there was one good thing that could come of this; Skyelar might not be as cold with him as before.

Sky's choice of clothing was surprisingly normal. Her shirt was a dark red tank top, and her bottom was dark denim skinny jeans. She wore her normal jewelry- diamond studs on her ear lobes and a pistol on the top of her ear. Instead of wearing her hair down like she normally did, she had it tied back in two loose braids that fell over her shoulders. Surprisingly, she looked rather innocent.
When she arrived at the mall, all of the other people there were dressed in normal clothing. Mark, who was standing by his sister, Dara, generously complimented Sky on her hair, but she barely acknowledged him, only giving a quiet, "Thanks," as a response.
"Can't we go inside? It's hot out here," a girl with raven-black hair said, looking to Jessica.
"No, Eden," Jessica said to the girl, sighing. "We're still waiting on someone... Oh, what's his name? Cole."
Sky corrected her. "Cain. His name's Cain." After yesterday's particularly eventful day, she felt a bit more warm towards the boy. She didn't hate him.... as much.

Cain rolled into the parking lot and slammed his driver's door shut. He stuffed his hands into the pockets of his read sweatshirt which stood out strikingly in contrast with his dark jean pants and gray t-shirt underneath. He spotted the group near the entrance of the mall and headed that way, blinking when he saw Sky, though he knew she wouldn't notice him from this way's away.
Her hair was in braids and something about that made Cain frown; he liked her fiery spirit and the way she showed it. Innocent just wasn't her thing, he guessed. Shocked at his own thoughts, he approached the group with his typical bored ex pression, except his eyes were a bit more guarded.
Sara's eyes brightened considerably when she saw him, and she pulled him into a more-than-friendly hug which he didn't return. "Well, I'm here," he said tiredly and his ex pression hardened for a moment as he half glared at Sara.

When Sky watched Sara pull Cain into a hug that wasn't just friendly, she pulled down her braids. She didn't feel like being innocent anymore. She wanted a fight. Wait- Where did that come from.
Skyelar didn't even like Cain. What was happening? Did she have a- no. She couldn't have a crush on him, but she did.
"Let's go inside," Eden said, walking into the entrance of the mall, follwed by Mark, Dara, Jessica, Sky, and the other members of the dance team. They walked to the food court.
"I don't know about you guys, but I'm starved," Jessica said, rubbing her flat stomach.
"I'm hungry too," Mark and Dara said in unison, followed by synchronized laughing from the two of them.
Skyelar shivered. That was a little creepy. She pushed a strand of hair behind her ear, trying not to glare at Sara like Cain was. She could already tell that she was going to have some problems with that *censored*.
"Well, that's what she brought you here for," Eden said, waving her hands around at the food court. "Go get some food." Jessica pulled Eden into a family-like hug.
"Calm down, Sis. No need to try out your spirit fingers in the middle of the food court," Jessica said, fighting back laughs.
They were sisters? Sky was more than surprised. But now that she noticed it, the two of them had similar builds and facial structures.

Cain's bored smile quirked upward slightly when he saw Skyelar snag the braids from her hair. The smile was replaced with a frown very quickly as Sara entered his view once again; he really wanted to know what this girl's deal was. She pointed to a pizza place in the food court and looked pointedly at Cain.
"I'll take a pepperonni, thank you for offering," he said insincerely and slightly pushed her toward the pizza place. She huffed, giving up for the moment, and stalked over to the pizza restaurant. Feeling he ought to say something to Skyelar after what had transpired last night, he approached her, though hung back a bit.
"You're feeling better today?" he asked, cautious of using his words in regards to the people that surrounded them. He pointed to one of the take-out places that were scant with customers; not a sure sign of good food, but it still promised a bit of silence. He pointed with his chin and let his eyes ask if she wanted to go.
