Teresa furrowed her eyebrows. "'Decent' isn't formal. But fine, I'll try it your way when I get the chance." She smiled but shifted slightly so that he was in front of her rather than right beside her, whispering in her ear. Too close.
She glanced at the clock that hung above the door, and her eyes widened. "We still have more than an hour left." She said with a sort of dread. What was she supposed to do during all that time? Sit here and try to talk like a normal high school student? For sixty minutes?
"I'm getting out of here for a while." She said, standing. She had no idea where she would go, but anywhere was better than the cafeteria. At least she would have some variety of scenery.
"Aaron, you coming?" She said hesitantly, meeting his eyes.

Aaron, seeing something was wrong, agreed and excuesed himself from his friends. "What's the matter?" he asked Teresa.

"Nothing really." Teresa said as they walked. She headed outside, not really sure where she was going. "I just don't feel comfortable in there. It's too crowded, and I didn't want to sit pretty for another hour." She tilted her head back and stared at the sun for a moment, thinking.
Suddenly she straightened and eyed Aaron through a sheet of black hair. Her hazel eyes were exasperated, nervous, and determined all at once.
"I can trust you, right?" She really didn't know if she did trust him. She'd only known him for a few hours.
"I'm... deciding whether or not I should avoid you." She said bluntly. She decided to be completely honest with him. "You're very good at taking facts and putting them together. When I was sent here, I was told to keep my past a secret. But I don't know if it'll make a difference anymore."
She glanced at him. "Do you want to know about it? I don't mind telling you."

"You can trust me. If you want to tell me something, tell me. If you don't, don't." Aaron said, knowing that in a little while he would know what's bothering her and maybe he can help her not be afraid.

Teresa smiled, though the ex
pression was far from happy. "My whole life was a lie." She said quietly.
Unexpectedly, she didn't continue at all. Instead she grinned and stuffed her hands in her pockets. "That's all for today." She said, jogging a tiny bit to catch up with Aaron. She glanced up at the taller student. "I'll tell you all of it eventually. Not now though."
As they walked they had ended up on the street. A few cars bustled by, and shops lined the sidewalks.
"So where around here can we get more of those fries?" She asked eagerly. "They weren't made where I used to live. My old life seems awfully plain now."

Aaron turned her words around in his mind, trying to figure out what she meant. He played over their conversation but there were millions of possible explainations and he couldn't narrow it down that much. "Usually at a resturaunt, but you can get them at school or you could make them." he replied still thinking.

"Hm." Teresa said, though her eyes widened to show her pleasure at the fact that they were so easily available. "I don't have a kitchen at my disposal and I don't see any restaurants." She knew she wasn't going back to the school until lunch was over.
As she paused to wonder at how healthy the fries actually were, a flatscreen T.V caught her eye in the store window. Her heart skipped a beat as she remembered what they had sent her away for.
Her life was being recorded.
Her entire town was under surveillance- it was being watched by millions around the world on their stupid T.V's.
She blinked, then tore her gaze from the bright screens, and started walking again without saying anything. Just seeing the T.V's had darkened her mood. She fell silent and simply walked beside Aaron, his tall figure shielding her from the sun.
"I hope you know where we are." She said after a few minutes. "Because I certainly don't."

"I think we are close to the park." Aaron replied, "But I'm not sure. Remember I'm about just as new as you are." He was about to turn around and go back when he saw the park. There was a cute big dog all by herself, barking up a tree at a squirrel. There was a chain attached to her collar so Aaron knew she ran away. Without saying anything Aaron walked into the park and went over to the dog and held out his hand. The dog padded over to Aaron, smelled his hand, licked it, then sat down. Aaron stroked her fur and talked softly.

Teresa stopped walking, though her gaze followed Aaron as he approached the fiercely barking dog. She tensed as he held out his hand.
She still had long, deep scars on her arm from an incident with a wild dog when she had been a child. Her heart immediately kicked into overdrive when she saw the dog stop barking and turn to Aaron with a fierce snarl on it's face. Memories of blood, pain and terror flashed in her mind.
"Aaron, run--"
And then it licked his palm.
Teresa stopped mid-sentence as it proceeded to rub it's muzzle against his shoulder.
"Are you stupid?" Teresa said, her voice shaking slightly. "That dog could have attacked you." She was glaring at him, her fear making her angry.

"Animals don't attack me, never had, never will. Even when I was really little they loved me, that's how I got my nickname "animal charmer." My family even calls me that." Aaron said, continuing to pet the dog. She rolled over and Aaron scratched her stomach.

Teresa didn't move from her spot a few metres away or show any signs of surprise. Her only emotion was skepticism- she couldn't help thinking that Aaron was being naive.
But by the looks of it, the dog wasn't about to try to tear off his arm or anything. She shivered as the dog panted, opening it's mouth to reveal long jagged fangs.
She approached slowly, then sat down on the gr*censored* near Aaron. The dog was still a few feet away from her, and she wanted to keep it that way.
"She doesn't have a name tag. Just a chain." Teresa noted. "Should we take her to the police?" She blinked, not knowing what else they could do; after all, she had no knowledge of microchips.
