Chance sat on the shingled roof of the Zen Garden, looking up at the moon. The Zen Garden was a quiet place that only few anthro's knew about. It was a great place to finish homework or relax after a long day.

Chance sighed and let her tense muscles relax as she lay back, crossing her arms behind her head and howled long and loud. She loved howling, it was her way of singing. She also loved gazing at a full moon.

Kiri's ears perked at the noise, a long, melodic howl. Hmph. she thought. Female wolf. She smirked, knowing no one could see her on top of her black fence. It wasn't used much besides by a few other cats, but she was definately in the blackness. The only thing that shone out was her bright green eyes and the tiny spot of white on her chest. Of course, that didn't show. She wore a black top and jeans, reading a book on shifting. Even though it was part of school, she wanted to master it. 

Experimentally, she tried to shift just her hand. It worked, and her hand became a paw, but it looked a little strange and oversized. Sighing, she shifted it back, and settled her head to her hands. She didn't have enough cash to pay for a place these days, and slept there, under the stars.

The gentle, lulling calm of the Zen Garden was abrubtly and completely shattered. Two male voices rang out against the air that was once peaceful, and the bodies belonging to the voices erupted suddenly into the garden. The first to appear was a stallion, running for his dear life. As he ran he thanked his lucky stars for having been a former racer. This little-known fact gave his the speed he needed to outrun the anthro hot on his tails, a rather excited looking fox.

"C'mon, Trevor! Just a few ribbons. Not a rainbow one. Just a nice blue that will look good in your mane. Please? Chriss won't let me play with her My Little Pony toys. You're my only hope." Trevor's reply was part frightened, part angry as he glanced over his shoulder. "No way in hel.l, Mulder! Keep those things off of me!" The running and shouting continued, the chase making dizzying circles around the garden, in and out of trees.

A sigh sounded off behind Chance, as Jake sat beside her. "Sorry about them. Mulder has yet to learn that No means No. It's pretty funny to watch, though. Way better than cable."The husky chuckled, watching his friends with a wry grin. They were pretty hilarious. Ice blue eyes sparkled brightly with good humor, and he cast his starry gaze to Chance.

Chance laughed lightly. "That it is." She said, her voice light and peacful. She sat back up to watch the action, her body rocking with silent laughter. She pulled her knees up to her chest and wrapped her thick tail around her feet.

Kiri's ears pricked up again, and she flicked them in annoyance. It was late, she needed her sleep. Cats need like 18 hours of sleep a day, you know. Yawning, she landed on the ground with a quiet thap, and proceeded to slink to the noise. It sounded like... galloping? Her eyes were slitted in the darkness, pupils growing huge in her jade irises. As she drew closer, her ears shifted to better hear, and she clung close to the fence.

After a few minutes of friendly silence between Jake and Chance as they watched the two romp around, Trevor's voice called from below. "Jake, he made me shift. I need pants." Jake chuckled, reaching into his messenger bag to produce a spare pair of shorts. Tossing them down he turned to the wolf girl. "This tends to happen a lot, so I'm always prepared." "Thanks." A few moments later Trevor trudged up to where the other two where seated, grimacing sourly. His chest was bare, the pale gold of his pelt gleaming in the dying light. A bright blue ribbon dangled from his forelock, no doubt the source of his displeasure.

Mulder bounded up behind him, nudging the horse with an elbow. "Cheer up, bud. It's pretty. Don't you think it's pretty on him, Jake?" The dog covered laughter with a caugh, trying his best not to laugh openly at the disgruntled stallion. "I agree, Mulder. Trevor does look very pretty." Trevor's only reply was to turn his eyes, muttering obsenities under his breath.

James lurked quietly in the darkness, careful not make any noise. After a few minutes of pacing in the shadow's he stepped up behind his sister and stood silently behind her.

Chance shook her head, knowing her brother stood behind her. She looked back and smiled sweetly at him, flashing her white fangs. She flicked him with her tail playfully. "What's up?" She asked him.

James tapped Chance's nose with a long claw. "Nothin, Little Bit." He said in a deep voice. He turned his head to glance and Jake. "Who's this? Your boy friend?" He teased, laughing.

Chance growled and jumped up, tackling her brother in a mock fight. "Ok, ok, mercy!" James said, still laughing.

As Trevor was about to answer, Mulder posing in quite a debonair fashion, a cry rang forth across the night. A ball of furr flung itself at Trevor, startling the stallion sufficiently for him to whinny a little. A few seconds p*censored*ed as Mulder, Jake, and the new arrival looked at him stunned, until the rather curvacious cat broke the silence. "I was just trying to be nice and Nina threw the vacuum cleaner against the wall and yelled at me and it hurt my feelings and I didn't know she was that strong HELP ME!" Trevor blushed, looking down at his bedraggled 'sister.'

"I don't know why you insist on me being your brother. If we were in fact related, our mother must have been a very adventurous woman." He chuckled, shaking the disgruntled feline from her mood effectively. Mulder held his arms open, and the cat ran into them. "Oh, squee! Was to bow your idea? I really like the bow. Super duper cute." He stuck his tongue out at Trevor in triumph, then nodded to Chriss. "I know! He's like a giant My Little Pony that quotes Shakespeare and curses."

Ignoring the strangeness of their companions, Jake and Trevor looked to Kiri, Chance, and James. Jake spoke, his tone very Public Relations-y. "Uhm, this is our friend, Chriss. And to you, Kiri, I say welcome, though this is an odd way of going about it. I'm Jake Montgomery, the fox is Mulder, and-" "I'm Trevor. It's a pleasure to have someone close to normal around."

Kiri grinned and looked around her. Soon they'll see, she thought, that normal doesn't exist in this world. Smiling with sharp pearly whites, her tail whipped around happily. She was nervous, excited, happy, and so many emotions at once, and all she knew was her heart was fluttering in her chest like the bird she caught yesterday. Her eyebrows furrowed a little, and she looked confused. "Um..." She raised one eyebrow at Trevor. "That's a lovely fashion statement you got there." Her face contorted as she tried not to laugh, but it was tough. He looked really rediculous, but not in an ugly way.

Chance calmed down, returning to her peaceful self, and went to sit beside Jake again. She smiled at Kiri. "Greetings. I am Tsuki Chance. But most people just call me Chance. And this," she said, pointing at her brother who waved his hand in reply, "is my brother, James."
