Mienshao's ears and whiskers perked when he heard someone approach. Yuan noticed this and turned as well, surprised to see a young man approaching him holding what looked like a Spiritom with a shiny Ninetails beside him.
Yuan's eyes narrowed and he tensed up, ready for a fight, but when he wasn't challenged, and instead questioned, he relaxed, but only a fraction.
The question struck him as odd, and the other male's statement was... unfortunate to say the least. Being an enemy of the Academy was not something someone would be able to keep secret for long, and Yuan knew there was a nice bounty on his head, but for someone to know his face and about his Lampent, that was very unfortunate. Yuan had tried his hardest not to leave anyone alive who could tattle on him to the Academy.
Yuan smiled pleasantly. "That's a rather personal question, don't you think?" he responded. "Although I wonder if someone actually needs a reason to attempt to destroy scum like the Academy. I suppose the safety risk warrants a reason."
Yuan's ex pression then grew solemn, and Mienshao took a step forward, growling slightly. "So... are you another member of the Academy coming to try to kill me?"

~Blizzard lept from the ball, her fur shaking as she chimed, and lept onto Lillian's shoulder. She mewed and licked the side of her face. Ignoring the food, Blizzard chimed happily and nuzzled against Lillian, her soft fur gently touching her face. She turned, and smiled as she saw Midnight. Her diamond - like shaped tail zigzagged as she bounced off of Lillian's shoulders and over to Midnight. She pounced on Midnight, nibbling her ears and gently chiming.~

Echo blinked once before a smile, genuine but unsettling all the same, spread across his lips. "I'm going to ignore the fact that you lumped me in with those pests," he stated, reaching out to stroke Selion's fur as he growled at the Mienshao in response. He took a step forward, moving so he could curl his tails around his Trainer, eyes narrowing slightly. "Selion," Echo warned, placing Toll's Odd Keystone top the fox's head to make him took up at him quizzically before sitting down rather grumpily.
"I'm a...well, hunter, for lack of better terms." He grinned a little bit. "What I've heard fascinates me is all. I'm curious as to what causes someone to give their Pokemon human souls is all." He crossed his arms, shifting his weight a bit as he cocked his head a bit. This was ridiculous but he loved it. Studying people.

Yuan raised an eyebrow in response to the strange male talking about being a hunter. His curiosity struck him as odd, to say the least.
"Lampent are Pokemon that feed off the souls of the dead in order to fuel their fire and survive," Yuan stated simply. "I'm not doing it because I get a kick out of it. I'm simply caring for my Lampent in the same way I would feed Mienshao berries for dinner."
Mienshao twitched his whiskers and growled lightly in agreement. He then glanced at the Ninetails the human had called Selion and gave him a cocky look. Pretty boy.
Yuan turned to leave and Mienshao looked back up at him, waiting for a command or his cue to follow. "Now if you'll excuse me. As a... hunter, you must know this game of cat and mouse it is imperative that one stays on the move and hunting or they risk becoming the mouse."

"Then shall we walk and talk to pass the time?"
Echelon grinned slightly. "Name's Echelon, by the way, but you can just call me Echo," he stated, offering his hand as his Ninetales stiffened at the look he received. His eyes narrowed further, a hint of fire burning around the corners of his muzzle until Echelon tapped his nose, effectively silencing him. The fox Pokemon sneezed, wrinkling his nose before he looked up at Echelon in confusion and snorted, glancing away after a moment. "Apologies for Selion. He can be a little grumpy sometimes." He grinned, though the look on his face was far from friendly.
He, himself, had a few unknown...quirks. Beyond his fascination with mental oddities that is. Nobody really knew what it was about him, but he usually seemed to put people off.

(( Hey guys, do you think it would be okay if I drew out what I thought the layout of the land would look like? Just so we aren't running into random lakes and stuff and we actually know sort of in what direction we are heading c: ))
I sighed as I examined the situation I was in. Not even Blizzard could pull me out of the slump I had forced myself into. I knew The Academy goons would be after me soon if they had heard about what had happened. I couldn't blame them, I would do the exact same.
I sat up abruptly. I would follow the sea. The river that I was on was a channel from the sea, and the water had always been my friend. It was the best solution to a problem that I had not many solutions for.
I looked at my pokemon. All of the pokefood was gone, leading me to believe that they had each eaten their fill. I called all of them back except for Squirt.
Mind taking me to the other side of the river?
Squirt nodded, and I smiled.
Then Squirt, use Surf!
I jumped onto my Dewott's back and glided cleanly across the surface of the water. The river was a monster to cross, with many hard currents, but we got there eventually. I hopped off my pokemon's back and held out my blue ball.
Squirt, return!
The pokemon dematerialized, and I stuffed the ball in my bag. I decided running was my best option and I took off, being careful about the dense trees that surrounded me.
I was making good headway when I noticed a girl in a clearing. I tried to skid to a halt, but I crashed into her. I knocked my head pretty hard and fell on my butt, but I was quick to stand back up. In this world, anyone could be part of The Academy, and anyone could be out for my blood. This girl didn't look like a goon, but looks could never be trusted if you wanted to live. Going by someone's looks had killed one of my pokemon. I still shuddered when I thought of my poor little shiny Eevee...
Spark, go!
My shiny Jolteon flew out of it's green and white ball. I clenched my fist, obviously ready to call out a command that could fry the average human in a shower of sparks.
I hate to be rude and abrupt like this to someone I don't know, but I need to know who you are and why you're here. If you don't tell me in the next few seconds, you're about to light up like you just got struck by lightning, and it won't be pretty nor feel good, I promise.

((I'd be quite open to a map. And I don't think Rika would be opposed to Oliver running into Echo and Yuan.))
Yuan looked over Echo cautiously. This guy was... unsettling, to say the least, but did not give off the kind of unsettling, bristling aura members of the Academy did. He didn't have that sickening sneer or that disgusting eye towards his Pokemon. It made him seem more trustworthy.
You can't base your judgement on your senses alone. Even a person's eyes can lie, the microchip reminded him in his thoughts, speaking to him for the first time in a while. Yuan was not the kind of person to need much advice. His microchip remained or the most part silent unless he inquired something of it, but it did occasionally give him a needed wake up call.
Yuan nodded and took the other male's hand, shaking it firmly and briefly. "Hian," he introduced. Echo seemed to know a fair amount about him. Yuan didn't feel it necessary to add his real name to that list.
He turned and began walking in the direction he had been heading in the first place, becoming more alert again. He pulled a Pokeball from his belt and balanced it on his palm. Woobat appeared in a flash of white light. Woobat made a soft, happy chirp and settled himself in Yuan's arms, and Yuan gave him gentle direction to listen for anyone approaching. A bat Pokemon's ultra-sensitive hearing was quite useful in listening for enemies.
Mienshao gave one last look at Echo and Selion before turning to follow after Yuan, but he kept watch on them out the corner of his eye over his shoulder, his senses alert for any hostility or threat from either of them.

Ollie was growing bored just wandering down the forest path. The sound of the tree branches swaying gently in the breeze set him on edge and every time that a twig snapped beneath his foot startled him. It was difficult to be at ease when when you knew you had just murdered someone and his "friends" were likely after you.
The unlikely duo of a Houndoom and a young man had been walking for what seemed to be hours before the quiet, distant sound of voices could be heard through the trees. Quickening his pace slightly, Ollie hurried to catch up to the voices before they disappeared.
If they were a threat, they'd have to go. If they were harmless, perhaps they could team up. Safety in numbers, right?
Before the people had even come into eyesight Mattex had frozen in place. A low, throaty growl sounded from the black dog, followed by a low bark.
"Shh," Ollie hushed his Pokemon quietly.
Blatantly ignoring his trainer's demands, a sharper, louder bark emitted from the dog's throat.
"SHH!" Ollie's voice was a harsh hiss, but it was futile now. The Pokemon was barking up a storm, tearing through the trees and disappearing out of Ollie's sight. With an exasperated sigh, Ollie darted after Mattex, leaving a trail of stirred up dust and footprints in his wake.
When he had finally caught up his Houndoom, the dog had been positioned in front of a shiny Ninetails and two males. Though the pair was hardly intimidating and not resembling Academy members in the slightest, his microchip piped in and quickly reminded him to be wary.
Everyone is your enemy, Oliver.
Nodding ever so slightly to himself, Ollie's hand moved to grasp the Pokeball containing his Beartic. He rarely sent out Tundra, for this Pokemon was hardly trained and extremely dangerous. In cases like this, however, he came in handy. The giant bear would easily tear into those two, no problem.
Not wanting to start a fight before one was necessary, Ollie returned Mattex to his ball and clipped the capsule back onto his belt but kept his gaze on the two and his hand on Tundra's ball.
"Excuse Mattex. He's a bit too protective for his own good," he apologized for his reckless Houndoom before getting down to business. "I should hope you two are not part of the Academy...?" he questioned, head tilted just slightly and grip tightening around Tundra's Pokeball.

(( Please excuse how terrible this is, MS paint is evil and I don't have a tablet ;o; Okay. That giant yellow dot is where we are, obviously next to a river which is connected to a lake. There are mountains to the other side. The green airbrush areas are forests, and solid green area is a very dense forest. The pink spots are The Academy's goon's bases. The tan airbrushed area is desert. The A with a frowny face at the top is The Academy. Sound good? ))

{Yup, looks good. Hey, would it be alright if I changed one of my Pokemon's moves? I forgot that he needs a Pokemon that could fly and didn't give Lunar the move Fly. .-. Would it be alright if I changed Zen Headbutt to Fly?}

((Sounds good. Do we really need to have a Pokemon that knows Fly? I was under the impression any able-bodied Pokemon that could fly and carry a human was fine as it was.))

(( Yeah, I think any pokemon really that can fly can use fly. Just don't do something stupid like fly on a pokemon that's the size of your fist xD Blaze just knows Fly because I like the move. Same thing with Surf. And Flash. And Cut. And Dig. And, well... you get it. ))

{Huh. Okay. :D It was just that everyone had a Pokemon that knew Fly / Surf so I was just wondering. I always imagined Noctowls to be bigger than an average owl. Huh.}

(( Oh, I was just saying in general don't fly on something as small as a pidgey (which are only one foot tall) Frankly, that would be quite silly. Oh, and I also only know Surf, Dive, and Waterfall because they are quite strong moves and I like them. I guess it was just fate /shrugs/ ))

Selion snarled when he felt a threatening aura around the new individual, whom he had sensed there while Echo had stored away the more interesting individual's name for later. He turned when he heard Selion, then rolled his eyes and turned around.
Don't act rashly. Control your Pokemon
He stepped forward, tapping Selion's muzzle again, the Ninetales obediently falling silent. "I would certainly hope not, for if I am that's news to me" Another unsettling smile tugged at his lips. "Also I believe you should release that Pokeball you're holding. My Ninetales doesn't seem too...fond of the feeling you're putting off." He crossed his arms, his Spiritomb letting out an agitated hum as well. They were loyal to their Trainer to their last breaths, as he had raised them with surprising kindness for such an...eery trainer. After a moment he moved to grip a grey and black Pokeball, his grin growing rather malicious and his eyes narrowing. "Unless it's a fight you're wanting?" He had plenty of Pokemon, strong and willing to fight for him to defend them selves and their master.
((Woops my brain stopped.)) ________________________________________________ Midnight blinked, yipping as she settled down on her master's shoulder to see what was going on, ears perked.

Yuan and Mienshao turned when another individual arrived. Mienshao bristled and growled, also angered by the new male's aura. This man considered them a threat, as he should, but that put Mienshao on guard.
Yuan crossed his arms and stared at the other male, while Woobat moved to perch on his shoulder. Woobat was more childlike; he wasn't as quick to aggression as his other Pokemon, but that was hardly a sign of his capabilities. Yuan knew Mienshao would not act until given his signal, so unlike Echo, he had no need for cues to remind Mienshao who was to decide if there was to be a fight.
Yuan gave the other male a smile, although it was not that friendly. In these territories, one could not be quick to trust. It was a shame, really. Yuan missed the days he could relax and not worry, but those were far behind him and it was all thanks to the Academy. "I do not associate with scum," he said.

A fight...?
The words rung in Ollie's head. It had been so long since he had fought with another trainer - a trainer, not some soulless slave to The Academy - and he could practically taste victory and swore that he could feel Tundra's ball trembling just slightly in anticipation as the word "fight" was uttered.
He suddenly realized that a fight would risk losing one of his Pokemon, and depending on how serious things got - perhaps multiple.
Don't do it, Oliver. Don't risk anything.
His ever-pestering microchip chipped in and snapped him back to reality. God, he hated that damn thing. Always telling him what to do and poking its stupid nose into every thing he did. He wish he knew where that thing was so he could tear it out.
Recalling what else was said by the boy, Ollie's hand began to move from the Pokeball he was grasping.
No, Oliver! Don't just give in!
His microchip would simply not leave him alone. Sure, it was right most of the time, but he could make his own decisions.
Angrily huffing in annoyance, he unattached Tundra's ball and balanced it on the palm of his hand before snapping his fingers closed over top of it.
"Why not?"
The words slipped from his mouth without a second thought. Tundra was powerful and would require a worthy opponent to take him down. He had faith in his Pokemon and knew that the bear-like creature could take any punches thrown at him. While he was secretly rather afraid of losing yet another team member, no hint of fear or worry crossed his face.
A different voice caused Ollie to turn and face the second male. He stated that he did not associate with "scum", or in other words, The Academy. Ollie found himself rather relieved to know that neither of them were enemies, though his tone of voice made it obvious that he did not fully trust either of them.
"Good, because neither do I." The other two had ended their statements with an odd, crooked smile, though Ollie did not return either of them. He found their not-at-all-friendly friendly gesture to be, to say the least, unsettling, and had no intention to smile back. He never really smiled a whole lot anymore anyway.
