ElomikeAkonru allowed himself a small smile as Solay took off, before he set his face in a determined ex
pression and tore after her, sliding easily through the water until his nose was level with her shoulder.
"Tag!" he exclaimed, nosing her gently and trying to throw her a little off-course. With a laugh he paddled away from her, but he soon fell behind, and had to surge forward again. As he was swimming back towards her, he looked up at the damp logs several feet above their heads, and noted with alarm the dark, turbulent mass of clouds blowing towards them. But the breeze carried more than just clouds, Akonru stopped in confusion and actually forgot to paddle, dropping under the water and sucking in a mouthful of the clear liquid. He came up sputtering and shivering as a blast of icy air accompanied by a storm of frigid white flakes cut sharply through his fur.
"Solay! Head for the logs! We need to get back, now!" he called out sharply, looking around for his companion.
Just what the heck was going on here? The waterlogged, dark-furred wolf paddled forward strongly, ignoring his burning muscles and harsh shivering. He reached the logs but found no way to get up, yet somehow he knew he had do. The pelt that helped buoy him up now dragged him back down as he hooked his claws into a low-hanging branch that he hoped would support him for at least a short while. Thankfully he was lighter weight than some, and the branch held so he was able to haul himself out, shuddering uncontrollably. His position was not idea, and he was stuck on a thinner log about two feet below the next, but he knew he had to find Solay and help her out if she needed it.
By now the cold white stuff was falling in thick sheets, making it hard to see. The wind was picking up and he felt, rather than heard some of the logs rocking dangerously. He still couldn't see Solay, but in these conditions she could have been right in front of him and he still wouldn't have been able to see her.
"Solay?! Where are you? I can't see you at all, but if you can see or here me, please, could you come over here? There's a way out!" Akonru called out, straining to see through the white.
(( Sorry, Solay doesn't get to win her race. ;P ))

Akuva dropped down to her stomach, making pathetic, submissive whimpering sounds. She crawled forward slowly, smoothly, trying to avoid choppy movements that would startle the nameless she-wolf. "Um, excuse me, I don't want to hurt you. I just thought you might like some company," she whined, speaking softy in the most soothing tone she could muster. She could see the fear in Nameless's eyes, and she felt she could relate to that. So many things startled her and set her on edge because of her small size. She could understand.
Itquari
"Speak your wish and be heard."
"I wish... goodness, I just wish she would lay off me for a bit. I can't even sleep around here."
"Well, you did offer her a scrawny hare with a scorpion on top, you can't blame her entirely," Kaizen said knowledgeably, scratching at the dry sand, obviously bored out of his mind.
"Yes, and we brought back two more adult hares for the rest of the pack to go with it," Izari snapped, glaring off in the distance with his eyes fixed on his Beta's raised tail. "She doesn't deserve that," he muttered, but his brother ignored him.
"There's nothing to do around here!" Kaizen complained, leading Izari to cuff him lightly over the ears. "Whatever, I'm gonna go bug her and see how she likes it," he growled darkly, not looking at his brother, who's eyes were concerned.
"Be careful!" Kaizen called after him, but he ignored him apart from raising his tail.
"What?" Evinri snarled, whirling around to face him as he trotted up to her. Her eyes flicked to his tail and laid-back ears, but she didn't comment on it.
"This," Izari gestured at her with his nose. "You always think I'm doing something wrong.... Are you really that afraid of me?" his voice was cool and calm, but there was a challenge in it, and it didn't go unnoticed by the Beta.
"You can't beat me," she warned. As if to prove her point, she took a swipe at him, but he merely stepped back, unfazed. He paused, waiting for her next move, which was to snap at his shoulder. He didn't move this time, but swiped lightly at her shoulder instead, ruffling the gray fur there. She snarled and flung herself at him, but he ducked away, only to find paws scrabbling at his side. He turned in surprise as Kaizen's scent washed over him, and he was instantly on alert.
"Look!" his brother said, shoving his nose forward. Izari stared in confusion at the white speck on it, and Evinri craned her neck around to see what the brothers were staring at. Kaizen was cross-eyed, trying to keep the flake in sight.
"What is it?" Evinri asked curiously, all hostility forgotten.
"I don't know, but it's really cold." Kaizen swung his head around behind him, looking off towards the river. His eyes were nervous. A dark mass of clouds hung there, and the three wolves suddenly realized that the sky was darkening, even though it was approaching mid-day. "What is that?" Izari asked.
"Looks like a bad storm," Evinri said briskly, grimly. "Come on, we need to talk to Aelia about this. I don't want anyone out in the territory right now, and we need to get up high. That looks nasty, and with all the rain lately, the river may flood. Then again, Aelia may decide something entirely different, like trying to out-maneuver it. Let's go."
The two brothers glanced at each other warily, but followed their Beta female as she set off to look for Aelia. They could tell she was worried, because whatever this new threat was, it didn't look good.
Zel and Ria
"Move!" Zel shouted at Kelaria, who seemed transfixed by the world of swirling white all around her. "Come on, we need to get out of here, before we freeze to death!" she snapped, darting back and tugging at her sister's scruff. Zel felt like she was going crazy. She didn't know how to handle such action-packed situations like this. She was the loner who forged her own path, and right now she was entirely out of her element.
Something in Kelaria seemed to clear and focus, and she shot off, moving quickly. Zel flew after her, running like her life depended on it. And, she thought grimly, it probably does. Ahead of them, a vast expanse of jungle stretched out before the two frantic she-wolves. "There!" Kelaria gasped, nodding at the trees. "There's shelter there."
"I hear you Ria," Zel murmured, focused entirely on the trees. Seconds later and twenty feet of distance covered, the sisters dove into a thick clump of ferns at the same time, and lay panting, roughly sheltered from the worst of the falling snow. Kelaria looked at Zel and smiled. "Time to start digging. That's the only way we're going to keep warm you know."
"Just let me catch my breath first."
(( Such a fail in terms of an intro for Zel and Ria. I feel ashamed of myself. ;-; ))
