There is a school, Kairo High, which harbors people with very unusual talents. Some can read minds, while others can change their appearance. The school only accepts people in ages from 13-18. The students live on campus in dorms that are large and roomy.

Sara woke up to the sound of her brother going through the cabinets. “Shouldn’t you still be sleeping?” She pointed to the clock. It was 4 a.m. “We don’t have school for another three and a half hours,” she said wiping her eyes. She patted Reese on the head and smiled.

“Umm, I hit my head on my nightstand when I rolled out of bed,” Dessen said turning around, his face red with embarr*censored*ment. There was blood running down the side of his head. ‘How do I manage to do these things,’ he thought to himself.

“I don’t know,” Sara replied to his thought. “The band-aids are in the cabinet next to the sink.” She lay back down and frowned. She seemed more mature than Dessen, but she wasn’t.
