''Now, Odi. I know you say it was in self-defense, but... This is the fourth damned person you've 'defended' against that had to be pulled out of school for three days or more. You broke his arm.'' She spoke slowly, as if to a toddler that wouldn't understand. Odi did not appreciate being patronised.

''And he claimed, and believed, he could beat me in a fight. Therefore, if he hadn't made his clearly incorrect claim, or if his claim had actually been true, none of this would have happened. Any, that ijit had it coming to him. He spilled white paint on my painting in art class. I notice nothing happened to him.'' Rant over, Odi folded his arms and leaned back in the seat in a manner that he knew she would find disrespectful. Every time he had done this in the past, it was clear they would get no more from him, and that he would listen to very little of what was said. Obviously it worked, because she sighed over-dramatically and waved him out of the room.

''Fine, Odi. Have things your way. We'll have a phone call to your house in about an hour. You will no longer be attending this school. You may choose to go home now, or at the end of the day.'' Odi grinned happily as if he'd just won the lottery; even he wasn't stupid enough to believe this was a good thing, he simply liked irritating the hell out of his head mistress. With a nod of his head he swung open the door and pranced out, head held high, not even glancing back to see the principal closing the door, shaking her head. She never would understand that boy.

However, as Odi was walking down the hallway, something... Strange, something he hadn't experienced before, began to happen. The world tilted, and he did too, unable to get his balance. He fell over and sat confusedly on the ground, a kaleidoscope of colours blocking out his vision. Fiery, burning reds that hurt to look at, icy, stark blues that hurt just as much, greens and yellows and oranges and purples and pinks and all of it bright, so incredibly bright, as if it was burning into his retinas and he would never get the image out of his head. He squeezed his eyes shut, but the brightness almost managed to surpass the lids, making it clear it was still there. A low buzzing began in his ears, becoming higher in pitch and volume, until it, coupled with the myriad of colourful lights made him feel as though he were going insane.

Suddenly, blissfully, it stopped. He opened his eyes, blinking once or twice to dispel the colours, and slowly got to his feet. He was slightly unbalanced, but not incredibly so. He looked around, taking in the scene around him. A forest of some kind, a warm temperature, slightly humid as if in a hot country. It was certainly no hot country that he had come from, but Odi didn't question it. He began to walk in what was hopefully the direction out of the forest, so he could find some city or someone to help him get to... Well, get to where, exactly? He had nothing tying him to his old home. Perhaps this wasn't such a bad happening after all.
