Taylor scanned the area from the air. The giant black wolf underneath her moved through the air with a pure beauty only the Lights could muster. His powerful black wings beat against the air, propelling them foward. Taylor ducked her head back down, the wind howling in her ears. She sighed and pat Shadow on his left shoulder. He felt the signal and landed in front of the Hatchery. Taylor climbed off of her bond swiftly and walked toward the hatchery. He followed. "Shadow. I can feel new arrivals today," She said to him and he merely nodded, not choosing to talk. He could feel their presence in the air also. "They are not all going to be Lights, you know," He said to her and Taylor cast a quick glance at the large wolf. "I know that, but one can always hope," She said and flung open the door to the Hatchery.

Dozens of eggs lined the shelves of the hatchery. Each egg was different, as was the creature inside of it. Taylor looked at her trusted friend. She had immedietly chosen Shadow's egg when she first came across this land. His egg had been pure black, but his black was not tainted or evil. His black was of a starry sky. Of pure beauty. Running through the black had been intricate neon blue swirls. The same as the blue markings that glisten in his fur today. "We shall welcome them," She said and Shadow seemed to smile.

Maksis walked through the crowded square. Mayfaire, the outdoor mall, was a gathering place for teens and he felt the need to come here today. He sat down on the edge of a large fountain near the movie theater and sighed. He cast his glance at all the happy teenagers sitting around and making plans for the week. He shook his head, feeling the familiar wetness of tears dot his eyes. He wiped at them and looked at the clear water of the fountain. This was where, five years ago, her sister had dissappeared. She had left without a trace and Maks could not believe she left of her own free will. He returned here often, tyring to see if he could come up with an explanation. That was why he had gone to the mall that day, but as he was thinking, the world seemed to suck away from him. He saw the scene move farther away from him and for a moment, he was in nothingness. He watched his life slip from him in a quick flash before he found himself sitting on the ground of an unfamiliar place. The land seemed to pulse with a darkness that Maks had known all too well since the dissappearence of his sister. Hatred, rage, and sorrow was what had filled him during the first year. He gasped as he recognized the black aura, but the spiny black tendrils of darkness enveloped him, welcomed him once again. He gave in to their sweet welcome, escaping his heavy heart to shadows.
