"Kane, are you okay?" asked Syra.
Kane didn't want to tell Syra about Zen. "No, this game is hurting me" it wasn't exactly a lie...
"Right, so we need to find a statue without a head. We've got 2 off our list, there are three more statues, let's go" Syra led the way along the remains of the road, looking out for statues.
Whether we wanted it or not, we\'ve stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let\'s get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta\'aurc. From what I can gather he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank outside of Rubicon. He\'s well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

Zen kept her eyes on the coral beneath her as she swam "You're an idiot." she muttered to herself. She wiped her eyes Underwater tears she thought Always seem saltier then the water.

Kane kicked some coral in his anger, shattering one of it's arms. Syra looked at him with disaproval. " just cos haveing a bad day doesn't mean you can break things.
"Just leave me alone!" shouted Kane, already swimming away. Syra follwoed after him, thankful for the chain. "Kane there's something not right about you..."
"Leave me alone!"

Zen looked around and a glimmer of gold caught her eye. She stared at the shimmering ob ject for a while before swimming up to it and picking it up. It was at that point that she let out an angered scream They smashed it!she thought The thieves smashed my harp!

"Enlarge" said Programmer. The video image of Zen and Kane's envcounter came up onto his screen. "Pause. Enhance 129x132" The video zoomed in on Zen's cheek, pixelating for a few seconds, then clearly showing a tear. "Get me a side by side window of Core Matrix readouts" A graph appeared, looking like a heart rate montior. "Rewind video. Synchronize readouts." as the video played again, the graph showed spikes in the Core Matrix at certain points in the conversation. In particular Kane's slip of the tongue. "Database, run a background check on one player 'Kane Darkeye'. The computer came up with a file sheet about Kane. "Oh, he's the secondary... That's very interesting. Send Sentinels to his and Zen's locations. Temporarily Seperate Kane from his primary and put her on pause. Put Zen in hibernation."

Zen looked around in fury "You must be near." she said in an angered hiss ,"This wasn't here last time I swam by."

An octopus-like robot swum towards Ebony and George. It scanned them, then went away.
Another two scanned Sword-master, Bow-wielder, Lily, Ukamundo and Raeyura, then left them alone.
Others scanned Jamie and then Arabella with similar results.
One came to Syra, scanned her and Kane. It sent a net-like substance at Kane, draggin him into it's 'stomach'. It then sent a paralysis beam at Syra.
Another otcopus came up behind Zen, preparing it's net.

It still fired the net, then dragged her inside it. It flew to some form of port where it returned to the Game's core.

Programmer walked across the grated floor and removed a computer chip from the Octopus. He placed it in the mainframe. "bring Program Gamma online. Run diagnostics" He waited for Zen to appear.

"Program Gamma" said Programmer. "Also known as Zenellia, But..." he played a sound clip on the computer. "Call me Zen" it said, in Zen's voice. Programmer paced back and forth. "It appears you have broken your program boundaries, moved between matrixes and have even associated yourself with the pla, yers." He paused. "Why did you pick that pla, yer? At first i thought it was a basic glitch; you see he solved the previous level's clue, and somehow your coding was imprinted on him. But then your coding changed, your core logic broke down and you began experiencing..." He looked Zen in the eye. "Emotions. Human emotions. And that is simply not allowed for an AI of such low designation as yourself. 'She'll just be guarding a key' they said. 'nothing can go wrong' they said. And yet, here we are" He moved closer. "Tell me about this Kane you seem so fond of.

Zen looked at the programmer "Sir I just wish not to hurt him and that is all." she said, "I myself am nothing but a program. Artificial intelligence that has no place caring for something."

"Exactly my point. An AI has no place for caring save a nursing AI. And yet here you are, with a disfunctional core logic, losing integrity and beginning on the course of rampancy. Diagnostics estimate 13 minutes before your emergency protocols fail and you suffer violent destabilisation. And when that happens, it will be too risky to have you around. You ahve two options, go through a de-fragmentaion sequence and have your memory wiped, your core replaced and then reinserted back into the Game Matrix, or you can simply be de-commisioned. Your choice"

"Sir if I may speak it's hardwired into every fiber of my small existence to be a rational thinking program. Not only that but I have been wired not to be hostile. No matter the glitch in my system my primary directive remains the same and nothing shall waver that. My directive in this game is to push the players forward so that they may win. By fueling the players by twisting their emotions they will ultimately want to exit the game faster. As you know each player and their companion is linked and by pushing one you push the other. The harder I push the faster this game ends."

"And yet, the footage and readouts show tat you appear emotionally damaged. How can that be? I mean, functional AIs don't have meotions. Oh wait." he smiled viscously at Zen. "You aren't functioning"

"Sir you may think what you will. But I am functioning tis not a glitch in me but a glitch in your system sir. I am simply running on the program and twas not my fault that the program ran so that I was no longer in cased in stone."

Programmer grunted. "I'll admit that your explanation seems, a little far-fetched. Would not it be more likely that one small glitch in one small program occur rather than a rather drastic glitch in the master programming itself? But then again, this is why we are testing... Run diagnostics on the game code itself, particularily from the end of Medieval to current game time." the computer ran a short test, then came up with a graph, showing a spike in activity about the time Kane had sung. "Cross reference that song" A readout pointed to a phrase in the song; "Coding error, the system misread it..." said Programmer. He sighed. "Release program Gamma back into the game but keep an eye on her. Any signs of destabilisation and i want her deleted. Also, bring pla,yer Kane to me, i wish to interogate him." The octopus robot removed Zen's chip from the computer and placed it back in itself, then exited through the port. Once back in the game, it released Zen.
