Nibok growled, then went on to slink into the shadows. Tarjak sombered toward Shadow slowly, grinning to her sweet new friend. "Oh, I don't mind at all. I appreciate his waking me up... Last time he did it, we were able to survive a quake. But really... Why are you here?"

Shadow hesitated as she remembered the male's reaction then she said,"I'm here to protect you. I was hiding in a tree looking for the huge creatures that roam the night until he came and started to get mad."

Eventually Falt'ca determined that he had dug enough for one day. He had dug out the sleeping room entirely. It was about a foot larger than the one in his old home. It felt nice to get a little upgrade like that. It made him feel better about having to move in the first place. He circled around in the burrow a few times to pack the dirt down and left his burrow to go hunt. After all, what better way to celebrate a new home and a dead enemy than to feast? Not that he actually planned on feasting, He wasn't hungry enough for that, but he could always go for some fresh deer.
Before he went to hunt, he returned to the dead merchant. He wasn't sure why. He just felt this need to go back and make sure the guy was dead. He shoved his way through the underbrush, not bothering to be quiet since nobody was around. He circled the dead human until he was satisfied with the amount of dead that the person was. He let out a few territorial growls and flapped his wings, going up into the air where he could easily search for some food. On the ground, a group of humans who were trying to calm several spooked cows stared up at the giant fire breathing lizard that circled over the forest. They hurried forward at the sight, not wanting to stick around an get eaten. Much to their dismay and disgust, they stumbled upon a person who had already been slaughtered by the beast. It didn't take much longer for them to run back to their town and send out the word that a dragon was killing humans in DeathForest.

Tarjak shook her head. "Oh, he's like that. It's just the way he is... Under those tough scales, he's got a heart of gold. I let him do this because, well, he is a week older than I am. The least I could do is give him a sense of authority." She winked with the eye opposite Nibok's vision. "I need to go forage... You may stay here if you like, Nibok won't give you trouble..." She glared at her brother fiercely, then leaped onto the ground outside the cenote.

Shadow nodded her head and watched her before looking at Nibok and hopping back into the tree she was in earlier to watch for trouble.

The quick movements below him alerted Falt'ca to the presence of a deer. He dove down as silently as he could, knowing that all hopes of stealth would vanish once he hit the canopy. With a crash he went straight through the branches of the trees, braking several along the way. The deer didn't have time to react as he slammed down on top of it and grabbed it's neck in his jaws. The deer kicked him a few times before dying. When it was finally dead Falt'ca lifted it up in his mouth, a task that seemed to get easier every day, and returned to his burrow where he could eat without having to worry about interruptions.

Nibok grunted at Shadow, this time not bothering to say anything for the sake of his sister's mercy. Tarjak wandered through the dense forest, searching for edible fruits or vegetables. There was not much to find but salmon berries and crab apples, but she knew exactly where to find things, familiar with the forest or not. She was thankful that she had only met dragons that seemed as innocent as they needed to be, but she was not sure whether to trust them at all.

Shadow heard the mystical song of a bird native to the forest and smiled. She couldn't remember the bird's name, but it sung a familiar tune. The tune soothed her tensed muscles as she listened contently.

Falt'ca soon got back to his burrow and dragged the dead animal in with him. Once in the burrow he laid down and enjoyed eating his meal in peace. By the time he was done with it, they was nothing left but blood and some fur. After that he went back to digging space in his burrow. Though the sun was going down, he wasn't tired yet, and he might as well use his time to dig that second exit he had been wanting.

(Ah! I'm so sorry! I forgot it was my turn!) Nibok waited for the birds' tune to finish. "Eh... Hey, dark dragon, got any family yourself?" He grunted, turning his head upward. Any family of your own to bother instead? (I love Nibok too much. His sarcastic brain just sends me from my chair to the floor, with a broken skull.) Tarjak scraped the dirt with her claws in hope of finding a wild potato. They were common at home, she just wanted to know if that was so in this forest. While watching the ground, she came across a burrow. She kept her distance, since she knew there was a dragon digging from the other side. "Good work down there... You're almost to the surface."

Shadow looked down at him and listened to the bird take flight before answering,"No,I don't and the name is Shadow." She jumped down from the tree and looked at the smaller male.

Falt'ca paused, hearing something moving around above his digging spot. It sounded big, bigger than a deer, which meant either a bear or another dragon. Judging by the muffled voice he hear it was probably a dragon, unless a bear suddenly taught itself to speak. He debated stopping his digging until the dragon left.
He had no idea if this dragon was friendly or not, and judging by how the others around here had treated him poorly n the past, he was willing to bet it was just someone else waiting for a fight. Not that it mattered. He was perfectly safe down here. He could easily stop digging until they were gone, but his curiosity was killing him. He decided to keep digging and soon broke through the surface of the ground, kicking dirt out of the burrow through this new, second entrance and looking at the dragon he had heard. He recognized her! She was that dragon who dragged off that other incredibly rude one. He liked her. She was the only decent dragon around here. " Hello! " He said cheerfully.

Nibok frowned. "Yeah... Well, Shadow, got any friends besides Tarjak?" He scraped his claws along a vine to sharpen them, in case Shadow got too close. Tarjak's eyes twinkled in sophisticated delight. "Hello to you too... I see you are digging a tunnel? I admire your work. It does look better than the diggers I've met, and I'd met some of the finest in my years. If I have any permission to ask... What is your name?" She lowered her head to his that was sticking out of the ground to address him in a more polite way.

Shadow shook her head and answered,"They were all killed by humans, the foul creatures." She hissed at the word and then cleared her throat and looked at the male with a smile.

" I'm Falt'ca. " He said, smiling at the compliment. He was going to ask her name, but couldn't remember if he had already been told and he didn't want to offend her by letting her know he forgot her name. Better to avoid the topic all together. " What are you doing around here? You're quite far from the last place I saw you. " Falt'ca askde. He couldn't imagine walking this far, but he might have been a little biased since his was missing a leg.

Tarjak nodded. "Good to meet you, Falt'ca. I'm just around here to forage for natural fruits and vegetables... I know how to get back to my settling, anyway. No matter how far I go." She only noticed that she was at a disadvantage like her new friend, not having wings or a tail.

(XD Oh sorry I forgot! My brain committed suicide. Please stand by while I fix this.) Nibok shrugged. "I guess that makes a little sense. So, uh... Tarjak is the only friend you've got right now? ... As far as social relationships go?"
