Back off? The large feline thought, stifling a surge of anger building up in her belly. ‘Don’t presume to tell me what I am to do,’ she growled coldly, her voice even and withholding her true anger. Her tail curled around her side as she tensed her muscles, claws loosening their hold in the sand. Her amber eyes glared at the creature balefully, giving away not a single shred of emotion.
‘What manner of creature are you?’ she asked clearly, wrinkling her nose at the sight of something so…patched together. ‘Not a beast of the air, not one of the legless crawlers, and not one of the four-legged furred ones.’
