Cain stumbled forward tossing the camera forward. Sydney reacted fast and grabbed the strap, the camera yanked from mid-flight and came to a stop right on Cain's snout. He helped slightly and clutched his muzzle with both hands, his nostrils flared and his eyes watered up. Sydney and Cain turned around, a smile on her face and a pained look on his. Sydney was the first to speak.

"Hey, don't worry about it! I think the only thing hurt here is his pride," She patted his back and he nodded, unable to find the words to say. "C'mon, Cain."

The fox grabbed his camera and strung it around his neck, since the protective case was in his backpack which was strung across his left shoulder. He spoke up now. "I-It's fine. Don't worry about it. Ummm..." he paused a moment. This was a good moment to ask and get to know her better. Though his voice failed him. His ears folded back and he lowered his head and glanced to Sydney. She picked up on the hint and she smiled lopsidedly and turned her attention to the two that just bumped into them. "Hey, how's about you guys come eat lunch with us? It's usually just the two of us at a table anyways, and we don't want you to feel too bad about bumping us. Whaddya say?"

Mulder grinned, watching carefully the reaction of his petite companion. Her ears perked, all anxiety leaving as if it had never been. She gave a dopey smile, nodding. "Well, maybe in a way of healing your wounded pride. Besides..." As she paused she turned to Mulder's stomach, which growled as if on cue. "We should probably get to lunch. The gang can fend for themselves for a day. Though I don't know who can get Oz to shoot milk out his nose in my absence..." She made a dramatic partial swoon, causing Mulder to chuckle. He turned to the two, grinning wide. "Lunch would be great. I'm Mulder, by the way, and this is Chriss."

She gave a little curtsy, smiling at the other fox. His shy demeanor and all gave her warm fuzzies, and she grinned. Just... so... adorable! The cat in her latched on to the idea of an attractive male, as did the natural girly girl in her. This way everyone was happy. "Right. We'd love to have lunch." Maybe being insanely ADHD was a good thing sometimes. Afte all, it got her a lunch date with a cute, artsy fox. She p*censored*ed Mulder an imperceptible look, part of their secret twin language, nodding discreetly.

"Sydney's the name," the lioness said, then thrust her elbow into the bicept of her companion. "This is Cain." He rubbed his arm a bit and glanced at her from the side of his eye and smiled as well. He shouldered his bag and continued walking and Sydney followed, grabbing the arms of Mulder and Chriss while giggling. "Mulder, huh?"

 Cain found a table that was completely empty in the cafeteria. He walked over to the closest chair and glanced to Chriss and pulled it out for her. Sydney grinned and said snarkily. "You never do that for me!"

"That's because you always run ahead of me and pick your seat before I can get there." Cain replied quietly, smiling lopsidedly as well.

Mulder grimaced, shaking his parents. "My parents obviously thought they were tops in humor. Hey, more power to them, and more material for my show." He shrugged, grinning knowingly at Cain's gesture. Chriss blushed a little, casting her gaze to the floor. Already he could here it in his head, he and Trev singing the Lion King rendition of 'Can You Feel the Love Tonight', particularly the narration at the beginning of the song. He chuckled, covering the sound with a cough so as not to attract Chriss's attention.

"Since he doesn't, Sydney, I suppose I will." He pulled out a chair for her, next to Cain, so that his own seat was across from Chriss. With little thought he noted that the gang's usual table was closer to the door, and therefor none of their circle would p*censored* them on the way in. Good. This situation called for delicacy, and that none of them had, with the exception of Trevor and Oz, and maybe Jake if you shot him enough looks. Nina was just a woman who said what was on her mind, no ifs, ands, or buts.

He heard them, ears flicking to catch the sound of Oz's deep, rumbling laughter, and Andrea's gentle alto. Nina's sharp reprimand cut through, and those who'd been laughing had to stifle it. Eventually this failed, and a whole new round errupted. Ah, those rascals. They'd probably made fun of her ears. Nina's only sensitive topic was her fennec fox radar ears, and was therefor a hot topic. Poor, poor Nina...

Sydney smiled and nodded, as well as added a bit of a curtsey. She sat down in the seat Mulder pulled out for her as Cain pushed the seat in for Chriss comfortably as she sat, the edge of the seat following easily with the back of her knees within inches, as to not rush or push her. Once Cain sat down, he pulled out two bags and tossed one to Sydney. "I'll pay you back," she said with an embarr*censored*ed smile, then turned back to Mulder. "Your act, you say? What do you do?"

 Cain set down his lunch bag in front of him and pulled up his camera, still flicking through the pictures. No damages were sustained, thankfully. Cain pulled out his food and began eating the apple he pulled out with one hand and glanced to Chriss, his big, chocolate brown eyes taking in every detail of her. He saw her weeks ago and felt something inside him spark. He played with his camera a bit with his free hand and said. "You look like you could be very photogenic, Chriss." he said, sideglancing to her again, wondering if she'd appear offended.

 Sydney looked up from digging in the bag for the sandwich to see the tiger and bunny come in, the small hare clinging to the arm of the large feline. She smiled and giggled a little. "How cute," she said. "They look like they do this all the time."

A topic he could latch onto! Mulder's ears flicked, one pointing back while the other remained focused on Sydney. "I do stand-up at the comedy club downtown. Everyone's a great support and the pay is good, plus I love the feel. Being on stage, making people laugh not with something someone else wrote for you off a sc
ript but with your own particular brand of humor. It's prbably the best job ever." He shrugged, leaning back in his chair. Though his body was relaxed his eyes shone with unexpressed glee at what he was describing.

The blush on her cheeks deepened to a dusky rose, though she couldn't help but smile. Her? Photogenic? Part of her wanted to jump up and call him a liar, one to shrug it off as mere flattery, and a third, larger part wanted to believe he was being honest. Sighing she looked down at herself, her thick structure unlike that of her friends, who were all trim, and only Abby was anything other than slender and muscular. This left Chriss as the oddball out, and her memory went back to her sophomore year, to Oz, Mulder, and Jake's old roomate, David the Jock Tiger. He'd called her fat. A lot. Sh pushed these thoughts out of her mind, glancing briefly at Cain as she smiled thoughtfully. "Thanks. Believe it or not you're the first to say that."

From her spot next to Oz Abby saw the tiger and fellow bunny enter the cafeteria, and her ever-searching eyes took in the tiger's infinitely pleasing shape. A grin tugged at her lips, little cotton-ball tail twitching happily. Oz and Jake both turned to watch the bunny, their gazes soft and curious where Abby's was blantantly desiring. She'd always been quite up front with her love of the male gender, and it was no secret in the school. Still, looking at the tiger felt different that when she looked at other guys. She scolded herself mentally, even giggling. 'Come on, Abby. You can't go soft so late in the game.'

What Rika should be doing is practicing her flute, though. Maybe she'll do that tomorrow. We get to play the Imperial March, and that's one song I REALLY wanna memorize. ;D))

Ryan and Alice were totally unaware of the stares directed towards them from a certain table. Ryan laughed at something Alice said, which made the little bunny giggle, bright blue eyes focused on her 'brother'. She wrapped her arms around one of his, clinging to him again and looking at him with a form of joyous affection found only in siblings, or friends who were like siblings.

A moment later Ryan gently tugged on one of Alice's ears, his own flattening slightly as he pouted. Alice giggled, grinning at him as her little cotton-tail twitched happily beneath her dress. She seemed to have brought something up from their childhood. Something...unspeakable from the looks of the tiger's reaction. He huffed, but not even two minutes later he'd forgotten all about it and was laughing again, the way he parted his jaws showing off his big, sharp fangs, while the little bunny had only her two front teeth and the other, smaller teeth she used to chew with.

Her eyes lit up. A sense of humor! She giggled again and her tail began to flick with interest. "You're a stand up comedian! Wow... How often do you perform? When's your next show?" She squirmed anxiously, finding males who performed to be more interesting than those who simply stuck to a plain profession. Cain, for example.

 When her face glowed with the faint color of red, he smiled a bit and ducked, not meaning to cause her to blush. He saw her glance down to her body. He felt the need to quickly explain himself. "Oh, it's not just about physical appearance. Everyone has a personality that can be captured on camera. When you smile... it shows. It doesn't matter what your body type is." He smiled to her, feeling more confident now.

His coat covered the blush that struck his cheeks, though he felt the heat. A girl who liked comedians. That was probably the best thing ever. Most girls thought that because he had a sense of humor he was unintelligent or immaturel. Sure, he was a little immature, but only enough to where he and Chriss were the unspoken 'kids' of the group with their kung-fu duels and playing emo at the mall. But the whole 'You're a really funny guy, but ___' came up a lot more often than people would think. "Well, I'm one of the regular week night performers. I'm on tonight with some of my friends. I'd really like for you to be there." He smiled, picturing her in the crowd. Probably standing between Oz and Jake, who'd be watching her the entire time and probably playing Inquisition. On second thought, maybe it would be better if she didn't come.

At all this Chriss actually laughed with relief. "Oh, okay. I understand. Cool. And thanks." Already her mind was wandering off, going all over places that should've been closed off long ago to the public. 'You're really sweet, and you have a great personality, but I think we should just be friends.' She sighed, smiling despite herself. At least he was being upfront about it, instead of leading her on and whatnot. Cain seemed like a genuinely nice guy, and she could see him laughing with Jake and Mulder, or shaking his head at them with Trevor, or studying with Oz. He'd fit in among her friends, and since that's what he seemed destined to be, she could accept that. Even though he was gorgeous...

Abby pouted a little, shooting a look at Oz. He should be able to handle this. For once, Abby felt... weird. Her eyes went wide, and she turned to her friend. "Oz, Oz! I think I'm sick or something. my face feels hot, my stomach feels like it's got butterflies living in it and my palms..." She leaned in, dropping her voice to a whisper. "My palms are sweaty. What's wrong with me?" He chuckled, eyes softening a little at the warmth he felt for his companion. "Abby, you're... shy." The look of shock and horror on her face was priceless.
