Taylor glanced around the room and found most of the seats were taken. Most of the students were chatting, creating a loud uproar in the clas$room. The teacher was trying to quell the students to no avail. She picked a desk in the back of the room next to a boy. Maksis had taken a seat behind her.

Taylor figured she should probably get to know these people so she turned to the boy next to her. He had short, blonde hair that seemed to be in a tangled mess on his head. She smiled at the do, finding that he actually wore it pretty well. "Hey, I'm Taylor." She said, sticking her hand out to the boy.

Adrian's dark eyes shifted their focus over to the girl who'd spoken, trying to size her up immediately, only to find that it was all in vain. For whatever reason, he found he couldn't read this girl well enough to figure out why she would be talking to him. It was probably just because she didn't seem the type to be cooped up in a prep school like this. He didn't know what it was about her that made her seem slightly out of sorts here, he couldn't quite place his finger on it.

"Adrian," he replied quietly, glancing down at her hand before accepting the silent offer to shake it. He didn't meet many boys that preferred to meet people with a handshake, much less girls. Maybe she was rich and he was just reading her wrong.

Taylor pulled her hand back, seeing as he was hesitant with the handshake. She folded her hands together and laid them on the desk. He was not one for a conversation starter, that was for sure. She wondered what he was thinking about her and she hoped her first impression was a good one. She had no idea what to say to the boy so she only hoped that if she let her mouth run for a bit, she woul not embara.ss herself too badly.

"That's a cool name, Adrian." She said sincerely. "This is my brother, Maksis." She said, gesturing back to him. He gave Adrian a warm smile and a hello before turning his attention back to the teacher. He knew it was mean, but he found it extremely funny that the teacher could not get the students under control. This was supposed to be a prep school and he found it wasn't too different than public school.

Adrian realized that it maybe wasn't the best of ideas to be overly critical of this girl. Blackthorne was just as famous for its troubled kids as it was for being exclusive, right? It was wrong to think he could figure her all out in the five seconds it took to look at her, and it probably wasn't very fair. With that realization, he finally offered up a wry smile, looking a lot friendlier when he wasn't second-guessing every little gesture of their interaction.

"Taylor and Maksis. Nice to meet you," he said easily. He could navigate social situations fairly well, he'd just been rendered a little tense by the whole 'first day of school' thing. As much as he tried to seem like he just didn't care, he had a lot riding on managing to get through school here. It seemed to be pretty much the end of the line for him if he couldn't deal with Blackthorne Hall.

Taylor was happier to see that Adrian might cooperate with her and maybe start a conversation before the teacher got things under control. When he replied to their greeting, she found he did not seem so uptight with his dialect. "Nice to meet you, too. So, first day of school. Maks and I have never been to prep school before, but it seems like your average public school. I mean, the kids seem okay, not that I've talked to many." She said and Maksis leaned over her shoulder.

"That's because she has horrible social skills." He said, grinning as he did so. Taylor stuck her tongue out at him, not caring that she looked like an immature child. Maksis chuckled to himself and resumed watching the clas$.

"Maks is right, though. I do have horrible social skills." Taylor said with a smile. She had, in fact, always been the odd one out. To tell the truth, she always preferred to be wandering through the forest as a wolf. Just now, the crowd of kids and the noise around her was giving her a headache.

Adrian's grin widened slightly. Admitting poor social skills- what a way to introduce yourself.
"Well, to your credit, you did just start up a conversation. That's at least a step in the right direction," he replied, finding the whole situation rather amusing. He seemed to have forgotten about the teacher entirely, not that he'd been paying him much attention to begin with. Being in the back of the cla.ssroom meant that you could pretty much do whatever you wanted without getting yelled at too much, right?

"But it's good to know I'm not the only new kid here. This place is a little.. what's the word, intimidating," he said, his eyes reflecting just a touch of concern. He hadn't been letting off that he was anything but comfortable here, waltzing into cla.ss late like he hadn't a care in the world. For him to be bringing it up somewhat unprovoked, though, must have meant that it was weighing on his mind.

Taylor's headache dulled as she blocked the irritating noise out of her mind. She was glad her and Maksis had gotten here late because she was actually enjoying sitting in the back. She was actually glad that she had carried out a conversation this long because Maksis usually made her seem as if she were a bore to other people. Then again, she did force it upon herself.

"Touche." She replied to Adrian's comment on her lack of conversation skills. "And you don't need to worry. I bet more than half of the kids in here are new. You should have seen the commotion downstairs. No one knew where they were going." She said and smiled wider. "Including me. I think the only person who knows where he's going is Maks and that's only because he can read a map. I bet if you stick with us, we can get to clas$ earlier. Either that or we'll all get lost together." Taylor said. Maksis was too engrossed in gazing out the window to realize she was talking about him a bit. That was odd, seeing as she was usually the one that would daydream during clas$.

"Sure, sounds good" he shrugged, agreeing without seeming like it was so very important to him. If they ended up ditching him, he couldn't seem like he'd cared too much in the first place. However, this did matter to him, as reluctant as he was to show it.

"At least it won't be as awkward getting lost with people as it is getting lost alone. If we're in a group it makes it look like we sort of know where we're going, even if we.. totally don't," he pointed out with a smirk. "We'll just pretend we know what we're doing." He hadn't even considered that they might have different cl*censored*es. Thankfully, convenient plot magic made it so Blackthorne apparently kept cl*censored*es together, so they'd be together with the same people in this cl*censored* throughout the entire day.

Lifting an eyebrow Wynter took the profferred hand and offered a grin in return. "Really," she murmured softly, trying hard to keep the disbelief from her tone. She never had been good at keeping her emotions in lines, especially the more amusing ones.

Gripping Aki's hand firmly, yet gently, Wynter let her gaze drift to her right, where the siblings and another boy sat talking. "Have yeh met Taylor an' Maksis?" she asked, attempting to be polite.

Oh great, she thought with a frown, feeling her rural accent replace her groomed city one as she spoke to the girl. "Sorry, I was born out in the country," she said in way of explanation, offerring nothing more than that.

"No. Have you met my brother?" Aki raised an eyebrow as she sensed the disbelief in Wynter's tone. Doesn't matter if she doesn't believe me, she's human. Doubt crept into her mind, but she pushed it and looked behind her, craning her neck to see where the other girl was talking about. She looked from the boy to the girl and realized how alike they looked. They looked like twins, where as she and Aki, who were identical twins, that being very ironic, looked arely anything alike. A rarity among humans...

Taylor stood up straighter, trying to draw attention to the upper half of her body before she nudged her brother with her foot. She could sense him turn his head away from the window regrettably and knew that her own emotions had probably rubbed off on him a little. Maksis sighed as he quickly grew bored with his surroundings. Taylor resisted the urge to roll her eyes. Her brother was smart, but he could be clueless at times. If he kept looking out the window with a mask of longing, people would think he was strange or worse, begin to suspect that they were different.

Taylor pulled herself out of her headaching thoughts. "Being lost together doesn't sound too bad. I think Maks knows where he's going, though." She said before grasping the bridge of her nose with her left hand. She did it out of habit. Whenever she was frustrated, troubled, or just tired, she would hold the top of her nose between her index and middle fingers.

"Sorry. This must look strange." She said through closed eyes. "I'm beginning to get a headache from all of this noise and this usually helps." She said, opening one of her stormy gray eyes to gauge his reaction. She knew it herself that she was strange, but she truly did not mind what other people thought of her.

Adrian had caught sight of some albino girl looking their way, and had been too distracted by this- even after the girl had quickly turned back to the other girl she'd been talking to- to notice Taylor kick Maksis in the leg. "Must be nice to know we're you're going. My sense of direction is awful," he noted quietly, when Taylor reiterated that Maksis would probably be able to lead them in the right direction.

He hadn't really thought anything of her holding her face between her fingers, but frowned slightly as she mentioned it, looking vaguely sympathetic.
"Girls carry Advil and stuff in their purses, right? Maybe one of them could give you something.." He suggested, glancing off towards the cl*censored*room.

Rolling her eyes with sigh, Wynter retold to story of her name. "My mother was a fanatic when it came to Sarah Wynter, a famous actress. So she named me after her last name." Frowning slightly at this memory, Wynter struggled to reshape her face into a smile, but failed.

"Sorry, mentioning my family..." she trailed off uncertainly, hoping that yet again this wouldn't be one of those inconsollable people who insisted in saying sorry for her parent's deaths. She would only have to repeat, that they weren't dead. Then that would only draw out the long story of how she ended up in an orphanage.

At the mention of purses and advil Wynter turned her head to look at the blonde-haired boy. "Advil? I have some in the pocket of my sweater," she murmured softly, digging her hand into her pocket to bring out a small plastic case. Jiggling it slightly to make sure there were actually any pills in it, she handed it over without comment.

Taylor chuckled quietly to herself. Advil would not help her ma.ssive migrain that was overwhelming her right now, though holding the bridge of her nose did help. When she asked Maksis about it, he had said that it was a trick of the mind. When she held her nose, it was natural for her to feel relief, so she did, in fact feel fake relief. His comment had confused her and she never questioned the habit again.

"I doubt Advil would help this. Stress has finally caught up with me." She muttered and then realized she had spoken out loud. She only hoped Adrian would not sense any awkwardness in the comment. She saw Wynter toss the small bottle to Adrian and shut herself up.

"Thank you." She said to Wynter, though that might puzzle the girl. Taylor gave a small wave to the girl standing next to Wynter. "Hey. I'm Taylor and this is my brother, Maksis." She said and Maksis waved silently to her, his mind elsewhere again.
