Destery sat down on the ground, crossing his legs over eachother and setting his head in his hands. "A chemical imbalance?" he repeated, cocking his head. "I don't think vampires can get that. Not like humans." He grinned, moving his hands to his knees and tossing his hair. "I hope it does get on your nerves, vampie. I haven't met another vampire in a while."

Mutation. Severin repeated in his head, blinking. He'd thought of that before. But, it seemed to be a really random thing. And, if it was, wouldn't a scientist notice it or something? They were probably just to dumb to notice it if they hadn't. "Yeah, and here I thought I just hit puberty pretty hard," he said, scratching his jaw lightly and looking away. "You wouldn't believe how surprised I was when I turned into a wolf thing. Jeez."

"I'd imagine you were surprised," Jason murmured. "I at least had a little bit of warning." He added on lightly, "Is it heard to hide it from your parents? I know I have trouble hiding my 'condition' from my mom and step-loser."

"Don't call me vampie," Josh snapped, narrowing his eyes into slits. "I have a name, you know. And it doesn't happen to be Vampie." He cleared he throat and continued, ignoring the burning thirst that was scorching his throat, "Anyways, what I pulled you aside to ask you, is why exactly are you here? You should know there isn't enough room in this town for two vampires. Hard enough to cover my own tracks."

Severin sighed, shaking his head. For one thing, he lived alone. If he had to explain everything else later, so be it. "Well, I live alone. Second, my parents don't take interest in my life. Or any of my sibling's. It wasn't that hard to hide it from anyone, and not even my older brother, who tried to butt in to my life all the time, found out." He looked back up, blinking. "After all, locking myself in my bedroom wasn't strange behavior...for me. So, I did okay."

"I've been around for quite a while, what's-your-face," Destery said, holding his head in his hands again and rolling his eyes. He wasn't going to submit to a weenie. This guy was probably all talk, nothing more. "I can hide myself and anyone else just fine. And, because I've only noticed you now, you seem to be doing a good enough job of covering your tracks." 

"And how long is quite a while?" Josh grumbled, raising his eyebrows at Destery. "And my name is not whats-your-face. It's Joshua. Now quit being a dork." He snorted, picking a rock off the ground to examine it closely. It seemed to shimmer in the light.

Jason looked at Severin, noticing with slight discomfort that the strange werewolf was taller than he was. "I had an older brother," he said glumly. "He was a werewolf too, but he and my dad both died in the same car crash." He wrinkled up his nose and looked at Severin with a serious ex
pression. "Do you ever talk to your family? Call them, email them or anything?"

Destery grinned at him, flicking his head to get his hair out of his face. "I'm an old fart. Can't we leave it at that?" he asked, standing up and stepping close to Josh. He bent over a bit, blinking at the rock he was holding, "I'm older than this rock, I can tell you that for sure. But, Joshua," He made sure to emphasize his name, smirking when he did. "if I told you my age, you would have to tell me yours, wouldn't you?" He paused, blinking. "Oh, and, by the why, my name's Destery. Destery Hale."

"I'd hate to do that," Severin answered, shaking his head a little. "Calamity would be all up in my face, and Daran's dead. I don't know where the hell Thursday is, and-" He stopped himself, eyes widening. He'd just named every one of his siblings, talking about them like he was speaking to a close friend or something. "Um, the point is," he said, furrowing his brow. "I don't talk to my family, and I don't think I really want to."

Jason only nodded, the awkwardness sinking in as it grew silent. "Um, my mom wanted me to go buy some milk, so could you show my to the nearest store? That's what I meant to ask you first, before you scared the crap out of me." He chuckled slightly, but let it die along with the conversation.

Josh narrowed his eyes, feeling the hair on the back of his neck prickle. "Well, Destery," he hissed, standing up straighter so he was at eye level with him. "I could care less how old you are, but it's nice to know what I'm up against." He sighed, tossed the rock on the ground and mumbled, "I was born in London, England in the year 1609." He nodded his head towards Destery. "I lost my accent about ten years ago." 

Severin blinked at him. "Sorry," he mumbled, looking down and rubbing the back of his neck nervously. The fact that he "scared the crap out of him" made him feel bad. Jason could've died the same way his father and brother did if not for him. He saved him, and almost killed him. "Um, if there's a little store just around the corner," he said, turning around and pointing at the corner. "That's where I was coming from."

Destery practically pounced on Josh, grabbing his shoulders. "Really!? I was born in England, too! It was a few years after they started colonizing America, and I went to live there." He looked pretty happy for some reason. "I ended up liking America better than England and fought in their Civil War. I had already been a vampire for a while by then, so, y'know." He was still grinning.

"I have twenty dollars," Jason began. "I could buy you some more alcohol, seeing as I made you drop your bottle of scotch."  He smiled sheepishly and said, "Wanna tag along? I might get lost."

Josh slammed a fist into Destery's chest, knocking him off of his shoulders. "Damn," he grumbled, rolling out his shoulders. "Don't touch me. I don't like... physical contact." He blinked a few times and then added on, "I didn't really pay attention to the Civil War and everything happening across the ocean. I only moved here when some petty human caught me feeding on her son." He wrinkled up his nose.

Severin chuckled, shaking his head again. "No, I don't need it. I have more money, so I could always buy myself more some other time." he explained, and then he took a step away, stuffing his hands into his pockets. "I don't see how you could get lost when it's just around the corner, but, sure. I'd be glad to help." He smiled.

Destery grunted, falling back onto his butt when he stumbled over something random. He rubbed his chest, brow furrowed. "Um, ow?" he said, digging his fingers into his chest. "You, like, broke my rib cage or something." He hung his head, biting his lip and still rubbing the spot he'd been hit in. That definitely hurt. A lot. "Wars mean free blood, Joshua." he muttered. "Killing sprees and free blood."

( Yurp. It's just there for a little bit until I get a better siggy. xD )

Josh shrugged, taking no notice of the obvious pain Destery was in. "I prefer to do my killing selectively, instead of on a battleground. More choice, privacy, and you're not in danger of getting run over by a bunch of hooligans fighting for no reason." He snorted. "I never did see the point in war, anyways. A good as.sas.in would do the job in half the time." He smirked and glanced at Destery. "Need help up?"

Jason beemed at him for a moment, then spun around and started to walk towards where he guessed the store was. "So," he said to the werewolf that had saved his life, "Are you from around here, or moved here sometime in your life?" He kept his eyes on the sidewalk.

Destery shook his head, snickering, and got back on his feet, hand still on his chest. Eventually, he moved it from his chest and ran it througth his hair, smiling. He probably wouldn't have helped him up, anyway. "I don't give a damn, either. See, the point is, it's entertaining and useful. So, yeah." He dusted off his jeans, still smiling. He'd get back at Josh later. Right now, he was fine with talking.

Severin raised an eyebrow. Did he think he was, like, eighty years old or something? It was probably just because he had had alcohol with him earlier, so. "Um, I actually moved here not too long ago." he said, flicking his head. "I used to live...oh, I don't know. Maybe forty-five minutes away from here? An hour at the most." He looked up, and pointed at the building next to him. "Here's the store... I told you it wasn't far."

Charlotte peered out the store window, grinding her teeth together as she rested her eyes on the werewolf from earlier. And he was with another one? Ugh. She growled under her breath and continued sorting through the cashregister.

Josh snorted. "Good, I wasn't going to help you up anyways." Despite his cold attitude, he was starting to warm up to the other vampire. "Where have you been staying? If I haven't seen you around here, then that means you live a ways away from my house, which is just down the street."

Jason smiled. "Thanks," he said, pushing the door open. The bell on it jingled, making many people turn their heads to look at the two werewolves. "by the way," he mused, scanning the small minimart for milk, "how old are you?" 

Destery grinned. Just as he'd thought. He wouldn't have taken his help even if Josh was nicer. "Well, I dunno, then. I live sort of far away," He turned around, pointing in the general direction of his home, then looked back at Josh. Actually, Destery had absolutely no idea where he lived. Once he got the whole "walk home alone" thing down, he just let his feet take him home, and didn't even think about it. "I dunno." he repeated, blinking.

Severin snickered devilishly, lowering his head. "I'm eighteen," he murmured to Jason, smirking. "But, don't tell anyone, okay? I kind of don't want to get arrested ag-" He cut himself off, looking at someone who p*censored*ed by like they'd caught his attention. God, he couldn't believe how stupid he was. The longer he hung around with Jason, the more Jason would know about him. It would probably be best formy remaining privacy if I avoided him everytime I catch his scent. he thought, swallowing. 

"You don't know much, do you, Destery?" Josh teased playfully, smiling so his fangs showed. He chuckled, walking away from him a few steps. He turned his body so he faced Destery for another moment. "Oh, and by the way," he added on with a grin, "If I catch you hunting around here, I'll slit your throat." He blew a kiss, winked and disappeared around the corner, leaving Destery all alone.

Jason's eyes got wide, and he backed away from Severin nervously. "I don't think we should hang out anymore," he suggested in a high-pitched voice. "I'm only fifteen." Without waiting for a response, he grabbed a carton of milk from one of the fridges and plopped it in front of Charlotte, pulling out his twenty.

Charlotte hissed, "I didn't know you mutts could afford milk." Her eyes flashed as she glared at Jason and Severin in turn. 

Destery laughed, holding out a hand to catch the "kiss." "You're joking, right?" he called after him, shaking out his blue-black hair. "You couldn't slit my throat even if you tried." Plus, he wouldn't die, so, yeah. There were perks to being a vampire. He rolled his eyes again, thinking, I'll hunt wherever the fu.ck I want. as he walked away, hands stuffed in his pockets. If he wasn't mistaken, he could smell other vampires...even werewolves. What fun!

For a second, Severin was actually hurt. His first thought was, "He thinks I'm a bad person." The second was, "Oh, what a pansy." He rolled his eyes, muttering something about something else as he walked towards the exit. He stopped dead in his tracks when he heard the girl behind the counter call them "mutts."

She didn't smell like a human... But, whatever. It wasn't his problem. He was leaving. At least, that's what he told himself. He stayed in front of the doorway, muscles tensed.

Jason was frozen at the counter. "...What are you?" he asked, confused. The strange girl smelled like blood, wine and stale air. "you aren't what I am...or human...?" He had no clue what a vampire was.

Charlotte smirked, and flicked a pen at Severin. It sunk into his forearm. "Leaving so soon?" she said, smiling cruelly. She snatched the twenty from Jason, and shoved the milk into his hands. The store seemed to be empty besides the three of them.

Josh chuckled, ignoring Destery's comment. Making sure nobody was around, he hopped a fence and then climbed onto the roof of a shorter building. "Time to hunt," he murmured, eyes scanning the nearly abandoned park. His eyes settled on Damon for a moment, but he didn't have the energy to start a fight. 

Severin gasped, letting out some sort of whine after he did. He clutched at his arm, eyes clenched shut, and pulled the pen out. That chick was strong. Whatever she was, she was also trouble. He opened his eyes, brow furrowed and teeth gritted. "Bi.tch." he spat, throwing the pen back. He wasn't aiming for anything, but he did hope he hit her.

( Uhm. o.o; What do I do with him? *points at Destery* )

She snatched the pen out of the air, wrinkling up her nose. "Ew. Somebody let the dogs out," she snarled, narrowing her eyes at him. "This is vampire territory, pups, so you'd better head out. There's not enough room for you furballs around this place." 

Jason stumbled backwards, swallowing hard. "V-v-vampire?!" he gasped, clinging onto Severin's arm subconsciously. He shivered, eyes wide. "Holy c-c-crap."
