Molly winced as Max touched her arm. She knew she must have looked scared, and tried to act normal. I can't let anyone here get wind of what I am. She thought, forcing herself to calm down slightly.
She didn't say anything, merely nodded, averting her eyes. Max's hand still on her arm, she stepped inside the warm hallway. Immediately she felt a bit suffocated, even though she knew it was unreasonable. The halls were wider than they could have been, but she'd always been claustrophobic as a result of being raised at the institute. Molly shuddered, closing her eyes. Don't think about that. It seems like you're in good hands. Just don't let your guard down.
Molly tugged her jacket flaps tighter together, making sure her wings weren't visible. "I-I'm sorry, I just wanted to wash up a bit, then I won't bother you anymore." She glanced anxiously up at Max.

Max shooks her head and led the girl down the hall. "If you don't mind my asking, what happened to you?" She said as she led the girl into the bathroom, she gestured for her to sit on the edge of the tub, just as her mum had done to her when she showed up on the Martinez doorstep what seemed like so long ago. She pulled the first aid kit out of the medicine cabinet and opened it, digging through some of the supplies.

Molly blinked, sitting on the rim like Max had asked. "Um, I was mugged." Molly replied after a moment. "Not in this town, though, in another..." She trailed off, realizing what she'd said. Max would know she had travelled from town to town.
"I ran away from home." Molly said suddenly, then fought an urge to chuckle when she thought of what 'home' meant to her. The Institute? That was pretty much the only home she had had up until her friend helped her escape.
As Max treated her wounds, Molly held her side tightly. It felt like her old wound- the one from her first attack from Erasers- had reopened. It wasn't actually that old, only a month or two. She watched out of the corner of her eye as warm scarlet blood seeped through her jacket and onto her fingers.
Max will take off my jacket if she sees that. Molly realized, and quickly slouched over so it wasn't noticeable. Good thing her jacket was dark.
The disinfecant stung, but it wasn't a bad feeling. Molly knew that this would help. "It's only my forehead, feet and legs, I think." She said, twisting slightly to see her legs. The motion cause an eruption of pain from her side, but Molly tried to look as if nothing had happened.

Despite the girl's attempts, Max noticed something. "Maybe you should let me look at your side, too." She suggested. "It looks like it's hurting you there." Max slowly moved the girl's arm and saw the blood oozing through the jacket. "I'll be right back, I need to get something from my mum's room. Can you take your jacket off, I want to look at your side." Max stood up and exited the room, realizing how much her mum had rubbed off on her in the time that she's been here. She walked into her mum's room and grabbed some gauze out of the medical pack on her dresser before heading back towards the bathroom.

As soon as Molly heard the words, her breath caught in her throat. I can't let her see. I don't want to let her see. She thought, eyes shut. When Max returned, Molly glanced up at her. "Maybe I should be going now..." She said, voice shaking slightly. "I'm fine now, really. Thank you for tending to my wounds..." She stood quickly, then put her hand on the wall for support as the sudden movement brought on a dizzy spell. I'm losing too much blood from this wound. She thought, wincing.

Max lightly pushed her back down. "No, really, I wouldn't feel right if I let you go like this. If you could just take off your jacket and let me wrap up the wound then you can go."

Molly blinked, then smiled dryly. I'm such an idiot. She thought. Why did I go into this house in the first place?
She nodded slowly. "...Alright. Just don't scream or anything, okay?" She said sincerely. "And I'm not referring to my wound."
Molly shrugged off her jacket, and it crumpled onto the bottom of the tub. Molly's sixteen-foot wings were revealed, a smokey grey, with striking blue at she base, and specks of white. The contrast between the red of her blood and the blue of her wings was stark.
She sat still, frozen, waiting for Max's reaction.

Max stood, staring at her for a minute, then finally mustered out. "You have...wings..?" Max shook her head, clearing it and worked on the wound on the girls side, disinfecting it and wrapping it with gauze. "If you still want to go, you're free to go. But, um, did they do anything to your wings?"

She blinked at the odd question. "Um... no? I mean, I've had these all my life." She said, gently running her finger over the small feathers that covered the base. "I just can't... use them right now. They were hurt when I was mugged."
Molly glanced down, her wings tightetning against her spine in response to her tension. "You don't think I'm a freak?" She said quietly. "I know I said I would leave, but I haven't eaten in three days. Could I have something before I go?" She asked hesitantly, afraid she would bother these people further.
