Sunstorm woke up to a sunny morning. She strecthed and washed her face. She paused mid lick. She heard Soulfire's voice. Patrolls! She ran out of the warriors' den and skidded to a halt next to the deputy. She looked at him expectantly until he looked at her out of the coner of his eye.
"Oh, yes. Sunstorm, would you like to lead a hunting patrol? Take anyone with you." She looked at him excited.
"Thanks Soulfire. Are you going to go hunting today? You haven't been in a while. Plus there isn't anyone to join me on my patrol. They are either on other patrols or with their apprntices. Care to join me?"
He looked at her mischiveously. "OK, Sunstorm. I guess so." He called to a senior warrior that he was going hunting.
While he talked to the older warrior, Sunstorm starred at him pleased. Finally! Me and him get to spend sometime together. Come on Soulfire!
All of the sudden the ginger tom looked at her. She duckedshyly and hoped he didn't notice she was starring.
------------
Sunstorm had already caught three mice and a trush. She sat next to her prey, watching Soulfire as he dropped into the hunters' crouch. She cocked her head to the side when she say him change directions. Must be the wind...
He had the squirrel but it was getting away. Sunstorm sprinted infront of the squirrle and blocked its path. Then Soulfire took a quick blow to its neck. She purred at him and smiled.
"Nice catch Soulfire. That's gonna make the queens or elders happy!"
He circled around her. "I coul;dn't of done it without you. Thanks!"
She nodded shyly at his praise. "Well, um do you want to go down to the river? I wanna try and catch a fish!"
She bounded down the hill, not waiting for Soulfire. He shook his head happily and ran after her.
Down at the river, he saw Sunstorm leaning over the edge. He saw a flash of silver and a golden paw follow it. Sunstorm let out a hiss. He just watched the pretty golden tabby. The sun on her fur made her look even more like the sun.
------------
Sunstorm and Soulfire walked back to camp. Sunstorm carrying some mice, a trush, and a fish. Soulfire had tghe squirrel and a balckbird. As they walked into their camp, all the cats starred at them, as if they new that they were goning to bring prey back.
Some of the apprentices brought prey to the elders and queens. After all the cats had some prey, Soulfire noticed that only the blackbird was left. Sunstorm had no food. He walked up behind her and nugged her.
She turned around surprised. Her fur fluffed up to make her look twice her size (and she was pretty big. She was a Maine Coon.) He looked at her expectantly. She understood what he was asking.
She walked over to a rock in the sun, big enough for both of them to share. Sunstorm cut the bird in half wityh her razor sharp claws. She gently plucked out the feathers, careful not to get any meat stuck on the feathers.
----------
After the balckbird, Soulfire washed his paws. He saw Sunstorm go out of the camp with some of her friends. She looked back and starred into his eyes. Then she ducked her head shyly, for the third time that day.
