(My characters had seen them, but not spoken. I don't think anyone else has.) Cat rolled her eyes. "Oh for the love of fudge," she said. She turned to the new girl. "I believe I asked you a question?" she said. Noticing the girl's puzzled ex pression, she elaborated. "Who ARE you? What's your name?" she asked, although she made no attempt to make her own known. "I don't appreciate traveling with strangers." ~ Scarlett transformed back into a rabbit and dashed out from under the car. She shifted back, ignoring her body's natural attempt to shift back. "Um," she said. "S-scarlett. Scarlett Summers." She, too, turned to the new girl, making no attempt to ask the black-haired girl her name. "What about you?"

"Kylie Moore." she said. "I got to go and find my back pack." and with that she shifted into her fox form and trotted away. Where she arrived she shifted back into human. Finding her back pack she looked inside and found the bottle and a bandage. Opening up the bottle she dipped some on her finger, where she was bitten, and put the bandage on. She shifted and trotted back to the people, carrying her back pack along.

((Thanks for clearing that up guys.)) Gunshsots. Shouts. Just what I feared. Lila abruptly stops, then starts backpedalling back into the forest, colliding into me. We both fall heavily on the leafy, muddy forest floor, but I'm up in a second, holding out a hand to Lila. I want to shout and rage at her, but now is not the time. "Come on," I hiss. "And be quiet." "Sorry," she mutters, breathing heavily, and together we race through the woods. Not going anywhere, really, just trying to get away from these gun-wielding people who Lila has alerted out presence to. "

He stiffens and looks up, sniffing the air as he heard the gunshots. He then heard loud noises of someone running. He shudders in fear as he wasn't sure if it was animals or people. His body shaking hard.

{ Sorry for starting so late. But hey, maybe having someone encounter everyone else a bit later would be interesting for a difference in pacing. I intend to be active from now on! }
Cameron awoke to a burst of shuffling leaves somewhere off to her right. She jolted upright and plunked backward heavily, supporting herself on one arm. The other rubbed sleep away from her eyes. The shuffling subsided; probably just some birds or bats causing the noise. Catching bugs, shying away from the sun--whatever it was that those sorts of creatures did.
And what about this creature? Cam opened her own eyes blearily and peeked through wooden cracks. The abandoned warehouse she slept in didn't have much of a roof beyond some thick planks that lay over its flat (and mostly decayed) top, but her location was still in shadow, so it was likely around mid-day. "Strange," she mumbled to herself. "Before the freaking apocalypse I got up bright and early. Now that the world's ended, I have all the time in the world to sleep in." Talking to herself had made her feel crazy, once, but she'd gotten used to it. She sometimes went weeks without hearing the voice of another human being, and even when she did they were scarcely friendly. This kept reality in check for her.
Long, irritating creaks sounded out as she shuffled upright, straightening her shirt and hauling her pack over her shoulders and slid off the ledge on which she'd spent the night. Clouds of dust followed her onto the floor of the warehouse. Around her, the remains of a shabby firepit and some broken bottles and discarded matches lay scattered. Someone had used this place before, and recently, or it would have been occupied again. "Got to leave quickly." Cameron remarked. Don't want any goons coming back.
Cam stepped outside. The air was fresh and had more nip than she liked, so she wrapped her red winter shawl around her neck, letting it drape over her shoulders. Travelling would probably be much quicker if she went on all fours and loped around as a bobcat, but the pack on her shoulders made that a bit difficult. Besides, half the people she encountered were cannibalistic. The other half wasn't--but one hundred percent of those people would probably kill an animal for food.
So human it is.
There was a gravel road a few dozen feet away from where Cam began to walk; she could smell the acrid odour of crushed rock and broken car engines sitting in stains of evaporating oil. Pretty gross. Faintly, there was a crunching noise too; something was passing over the rocks, and if she could hear it from this distance it must be decently large. She wondered briefly if she should get closer before dropping low and slinking over.
If he was trying to be inconspicuous it wasn't working; the boy she saw had blue hair and a faded yellow hoodie of sorts. Seemed a bit suspicious; alone, stuck out like a sore thumb. Maybe it's an ambush? The thought didn't seem too wild. Cam stuck to the edges, ducking near some slabs of broken wall to watch him pass.

The youth had been walking for some time on that quiet, abandoned road. Nothing had stirred. No animals from the forests were in sight. The only animals he'd see, were the old and devoured carcasses left behind by either humans or starved wood creatures. Every few minutes or so there would be a strong breeze that carried the scent of burnt lands from far away as it brought cold winds to the near emaciated wolf.
Francis attempted to sniff the air, yet his stuffy nose prevented him from getting a complete scent of his surroundings. The boy huffed, swiping his sweater sleeve across his runny nose as he continued walking. It was another few steps before he whipped his head around with eyes wide as his gaze danced around the edges of the forest. His sight caught nothing, yet that didn't ease him whatsoever.
Narrowing his eyes, Francis decided that this would be the perfect time to get out of the open. He knew he shouldn't have dared venture out onto the roads. Even if they were more secluded than others. Whatever it was that peaked his senses, there was no telling if it was dangerous nor if it was safe. Disregarding the fact that it could be a human, the teenager bolted into the forest opposite of the one he had emerged from in the guise of a grey wolf, going as fast as he could without stumbling.
Once the boy felt safe, he slowed his pace into a trot with paws burning from the race he had ran. That trot slowed into a walk, before the tired wolf fell forward into damp leaves and dirt on the forest floor. He panted heavily, his eyes closed tight as he let himself rest in the spot where he'd fallen.
If that wasn't the scariest thing then he didn't know what was. This entire time during the "end of the world," Francis had never ever been confronted. Nor did he have close calls like the one he just had. Of course, that didn't mean he was invincible. As a child born before the apocalypse, he already practiced the act of avoiding others. And the end of the world was no exception.
Sitting up, the tired teen adjusted his dampened and dirty yellow sweater, not caring of the dead leaves in his blue-dye colored hair. Hopefully, that was the last risk of the day. He definitely would never be going out into the open again after what just happened.

"Well," the crow shifter said. "I need to be on my way now." She pivoted on her heels. "But--" Scarlett called after her. "You said you didn't appreciate traveling with strangers... We're not strangers anymore."
"I had you guys tell you each other's names for your sake," the retreating figure said. "I don't appreciate traveling with anyone." The girl turned into a crow, spread her wings, and flew away.

As the sounds grew quieter, he relaxed. When he looked back his meal was gone. Stolen by some other creature. He growled and sniffed around. He caught the scent and took off after it. He wasn't paying attention to where he was going. All he cared about at the moment was getting his meal back. He also didn't notice that he was heading towards human territory. If he had he would have already given his meal up for loss and retreated. He feared people as well as other animals. He was young, but glad that the size of his mastiff form helped keep most people and animals away.

Continuing on their journey, the two males watched as the sun began to edge closer and closer towards the trees that rest on the horizon. It was probably around three or four in the afternoon by now but it was difficult to tell.
Johann's tired blue eyes watched the ground as they walked, almost tripping every once in awhile as his foot got caught on something beneath the leaves of the forest floor. Cursing under his breath he continued on, jogging lightly to catch up to his brother. A slight chill ran through the blond's spine as his hair was rustled by a slow breeze that was passing through. Fair hair began to bristle as the youth remembered the close call with the human that happened only about an hour ago. The dark haired brother sighed as his head turned from left to right, cursing his left eye for being useless to him, despite whatever form he was in.
It wasn't long before the two figures slowed to a stop, setting their bags on the forest floor with a light thud. "We'll sleep here. I think it's far enough from any roads and the brush should be thick enough to have a small fire." Markus spoke in a somewhat exhausted voice as he unzipped his bag and set up his sleeping area. "Whatever just get it started." Johann replied in a gruff tone while leaning against one of the nearby dead trees, arms crossed and eyes closed.
Markus brushed away the fallen leaves with his foot, clearing a wide spot for where the fire will be before glancing over at his brother. "Can you stay here while I go get some dry fire wood?" Blue eyes opened quickly but were glued to the ground, as if he were frozen at the idea. "Tch. Yeah right." Was all that left Johann as he gave a curt laugh and pushed himself off the tree, following his brother. It was almost more trouble keeping Johann around than if his brother were to leave him behind. Always looking for trouble, starting avoidable fights and the worst of all his fear of being left alone. Though, Markus could never leave his brother behind, no matter how much trouble he caused. They were all they had left now, and who knows what would happen if Johann would be left by himself during the apocalypse
Soon returning to their make-shift camp, the men dropped the small pile of fire wood that they had gathered. The blue-eyed brother unzipped his bag and pulled out an old, hand-made quilt that he placed on the forest floor. The sky was still lit as they relaxed across from one another, Markus listening for any sign of movement while Johann yawned and put his arms behind his head. "This might actually be nice if I wasn't starving to death." The blond cursed under his breath as he closed his eyes for a moment before hearing a small chuckle from the one-eyed figure nearby.

He kept running and after a while tripped over a fallen log, causing him to roll down a hill. He swore he hit every rock and tree on the way down. He finally stopped moving in some clearing. He could feel heat from a fire, but he kept his eyes closed, afraid to open them. His body covered in bruises. His body shook in fear as he smelled something almost like a human, but different.

Charley watched as the two men ran away, leaving her alone on the ground. She lay there until her heart rate decreased and her breathing steadied. He would have killed me if the brother hadn't pulled him off me, she thought, imagining his snarling wolf form. Her deer instincts had been screaming inside her, attempting to take over, but she had forced them back, denying her weak shifter form purchase in her mind. They're gone now.
Sighing, Charley lifted herself off the ground, dusting off her cargo pants and wiping spit off her face, disgusted.
She should have continued on her way, following the map in her backpack to the river. She should have, but she didn't. The odds were slim, but they were still there. Those two men could have seen Charley's daughter or husband. She twisted the diamond wedding ring on her finger before jumping into the forest, transforming into a white blur as she went.
As much as she was loathe to use her deer form, Charley could move much faster, and could process simple foods such as leaves and grass easier than with a human stomach. She ran at a steady pace, though from what she could hear, the mens' head-start was serving them well.
With her powerful legs, Charley jumped over a fallen tree with ease, feeling elated. Although she was prey in this form, she was fast, her senses keen. The brothers' scents were getting stronger; they must have stopped to make camp.
Charley's suspicions were confirmed as she found herself outside a makeshift camp. Transforming back into human form, she scanned the camp. They don't have a tent, she thought, taking the time to look carefully through their stuff, or anything I need, really. Except, possibly, information.
Charley heard a twig snap. Backing into the shadows of the trees, she watched as the two men entered the camp, arms full of firewood. They spoke to each other, though she couldn't catch the words. One pulled out a blanket and settled down under it.
Charley began having second thoughts. She didn't want to be almost eaten a second time. But she wanted the information.
But maybe that was just an excuse. Maybe, some part inside of her still enjoyed the company of people, and felt pain and loneliness when she saw these two, keeping each other sane with plain conversation that she had been denied for so long. Maybe she just wanted company.
Charley stepped forward. "Hello," she said cheerfully, putting her hands up in a gesture of surrender, "sorry for coming out of nowhere like this. Run if you want, I don't mind. All I want is information, maybe all the people- well, sane people- that you've run into since the world turned into a craphole." she kept her hands up, though they were itching to grab her gun in case either of them made any sudden movements.

The sun's presence was beginning to fade as it began to reach the trees on the horizon, causing the sky to dim slightly. Johann yawned as he glanced deeper into the forest, letting his blue eyes scan the area for a moment before turning back to look at his brother. "I think that human rubbed off on me. I can still smell her weird scent." The figure spoke as he shifted into his natural form, rising to his paws and shaking his fur quickly with a quiet growl.
Markus couldn't help but let a small smile move onto his face as he watched his brother desperately try to shake the scent off of him. It was odd, the scent shouldn't be this thick if it were simply rubbed off. Johann sighed as he sat back down in his human form, scratching the back of his head with one hand as he waited for the sky to turn dark.
Both males jumped to their feet as something rustled in the nearby brush. Johann's hair bristled in anger as a familiar figure stepped out from between the trees. The minute the blond recognized the female he snarled and clenched his jaw muscles, furious to see that the human had followed them. "First you threaten us and now you track us down to ask us for information!? Who do you think you are!?" The brother's voice was sharp with anger as his hands closed into tight fists. Markus was surprised to see the female at their make-shift camp but it would explain the reason behind the strong scent. "He has a point, for once. Why should we tell you?" The dark haired male's eyes were narrowed with distrust. It wouldn't make sense for them to give her what she wanted after they had just been at gunpoint by the same person.
As the elder brother spoke, Johann shifted to his natural form once again. There was no use hiding what he really was now, she had already seen his true form when they met before. Fair fur bristled and blue eyes glared at the female, teeth bared in a vicious snarl as a low growl left Johann. His tail was raised high into the air and his ears were perked forward as he took another step towards the human, though he was soon stopped by his brother's hand being held out for him to stay where he was.
This female seemed persistent in pestering the two brothers and it was obvious she wouldn't leave them alone until she got what she wanted. "If we tell you will you leave us alone?" Markus spoke as he turned his head to look at her fully, unable to see her completely due to his blind left eye. "Johann!" The brother snapped at the blond figure across from him, finding it difficult to talk over his constant growling. The slightly smaller figure halted his growling and snapped his jaws in agitation as he relaxed slightly, though the violence still showing in his cold eyes.

Charley looked hurt for a moment at the blonde's harsh words, then let out a dark laugh. "I think I am..." she said slowly, pondering the question, "a mother, who would kill to have her family back." Her eyes shone at the word 'kill', hands lowering slightly. If they were to attack, she wanted to be as close to her weapon as possible. She was confident enough in her skills that she could shoot them before they attacked, maybe using her knife if they managed to catch her off guard. They didn't seem to have any weapons, which was to her advantage. Possibly a bargaining chip, if they didn't feel like talking. she tried to be as humane as possible, even during the apocalypse.
The brother with one blind eye was ever a diplomat, using careful words though his eyes were glinting with distrust. Charley tensed as the blonde one turned into his true form as the other spoke, clenching her jaw to keep from shaking. It was natural instinct to run; her true form was screaming for survival. But her motherly instincts were far stronger.
"Yes, I will leave you alone," Charley said, taking a small step closer, "and maybe give you something in return, if I get what I want." She waited for either to speak, twisting her wedding ring and and praying that she would hear what she wanted to hear. There was silence save for the rustling of the trees and the pounding in Charley's ears. Please.... she thought, letting out a deep breath. She stopped twisting her ring and reached into her bag to get out the only thing that could calm her at this point: a cigarette. Taking one out of the pack, she slipped it into her mouth and lit it, keeping one eye on the two brothers. She had smoked as a teen, but quit when she became pregnant with her daughter. Now she was back at it again, though only lighting ones during 'special occasions'. She took a puff and watched them coldly, blowing the smoke out into the cold air.

One of two dark eyebrows raised as Markus listened to the female mention something about a family. He wondered what she could be thinking. It wasn't like they knew anything about her family or what could have happened to them. Watching her closely, the larger male could tell she seemed a bit on edge with Johann, which she had reason to be. Johann wasn't the easiest person to get along with, especially if you're a new comer.
Markus sighed as the female promised to leave them alone and let his eyes close for a moment, only to open them a second later as she spoke about a gift in return. The brothers exchanged a quick glance before resting their gaze back onto the human. It was obviously that this woman was desperate to hear the information from them but Markus couldn't help but feel guilty that they had no news to share.
Johann's fur was still bristled and his tail was still raised highly as a faint snarl was plastered on his face. No matter what the female was saying, he still wouldn't let his guard down. This could all be some stupid trap. Talking to us, finding out information, then waiting until we let our guards down to murder us in our sleep. The blond thought to himself as he growled quietly to himself, his thoughts only making him angrier. His anger faltered slightly once he caught sight of the pack of cigarettes the girl had, blue eyes watching closely as she lit one.
"Somethin' in return huh?" The younger figure questioned as he shifted back into his human form, still on edge as he glared at her from where he stood. "How about you hand over those smokes and we'll talk." Johann suggested, ignoring the look he got from Markus. He knew they were in much more need of food but he didn't care, they'd surely find some food along the way somehow. The blond-haired male waited for a reply, his ex pression a bit more relaxed but with his usual harsh demeanor. The one-eyed male sighed and turned his attention back to the female, awaiting her reply. It was no use arguing over what they would get in return from the human. If Johann got the pack of cigarettes he'd probably calm down a bit but food would have probably been a smarter choice to bargain with.
The darker haired brother couldn't help but be a bit on edge about how the female might react to finding out they had no real information to give her. If worse came to worse he would kill but he hoped it wouldn't come to that. After all, the human did have a gun and most likely some other weapons she could use against them. The way he looked at it though, they had the upper hand. Two large males who, in reality, were both carnivores who could easily over power the female. On the other hand, if they got injured it would be difficult to tend to and look after as they traveled. Shaking his head clear of his thoughts, Markus awaited the human's response and hoped she was sane enough not to start anymore trouble like before.

He slowly relaxed when he didn't hear any sounds of threats. He uncurled and looked around. It was a car that was still burning, recently crashed. He sniffed around and only saw a dead person. He looked at them sadly and went about digging a nice hole for them, before carefully dragging them over and burying them. He thought some comforting words for them, before heading off once more to hopefully find some new dinner. He stomach growled loudly as he had already worked off what he had eaten. -Man...and I had barely at any of it before it was snatched.- He pouted and sniffed around, hoping to get a scent of deer or some other animal.

He finally got the scent of a deer, and went to investigate. It had passed through not too long ago. His stomach gave a rumble and he followed the scent. As the scent got stronger, he picked up his pace, trying to keep quiet. He was surprisingly not very loud, especially when considering his size. He moved in almost complete silence. The only sound my be a twig or a small branch breaking against his body.
