April raised an eyebrow, extremely confused now. She glared at him. She knew that he did something, but she didn't know that he had read her mind. "Thanks," she said quietly, a hint of wariness in her tone. She got up from her seat, turned around, and said, "Don't go anywhere." Then she walked to the cafe, got herself some coffee, and walked back. She sat back down in her seat, and began stirring creamer and sugar into her coffee. "What did you do? Something's fishy." Of course, April wouldn't be too happy about being read like a book.

(( You would think being able to read minds would help him with the ladies...Nope.)) Effrayant silently waited for April to come back, wishing he had more tea. When she got back he almost smiled. Evan was usually something of a loner, but company was nice once you got tired of it. "Oh, eh." He paused for a moment, "Um, I can read minds. Not like, the whole thing, or anything, though. Just words or short phrases. Sometimes pitures. It's harder with other Supernaturals though, their brains have something like a barrier, I think." Evan waited for a reaction.

"Be careful. If you get too nosy, I might get mad." She took a sip of her coffee, trying not to burn her tongue. She looked around for the boys who had chased her. "You would think that they would find me. It's not that hard," she said, gesturing to her white hair.

Evan chuckled at her joke and said, "Yeah. But they didn't look very smart to me, so..."He smiled and wished he had tea. He wanted something to hold onto, something to keep him busy during the akward silences. "Wait one second, don't go. I'm gonna get some tea 'kay?" He stated before going to the cafe. When Effrayant got back he blew on his tea to cool it and took a long, slow slurp, and felt the warm liquid slide towards his belly.

"I can't stand hot tea. The only kind of tea that we have down south is iced tea, and it's always as sweet as candy." April smiled, remembering her old home. "Yeah, I was born in Louisiana. The swamps down there are a safe haven for werewolves." She took another sip of her coffee and said, "So, how old are you, really? Like, I know that vampires are frozen at whatever age that they are bitten, so, spill the beans." Of course, April was partially immortal, too. The werewolves' aging processes halted at age 18, keeping them as that age forever as long as they live.

"This is green tea." Effrayant said seriously, then said with a smile. "Loaded down with 20 packs of sugar to keep back the bitterness." He took a few sips before telling her his age. "I am around 147. Give or take. I mean, after a while, it get's confusing." He laughed a bit. This girl was curious and so was Evan, so he asked. "How old are you? Seventeen, eighteen? I know you're still in school."

"Whoah. you're old." She smiled, teasing him. "I'm seventeen, but I don't go to school. I only went to school until I was in the eighth grade. Then my... werewolf problems became uncontrollable, so my parents homeschooled me until I was sixteen. Now, I don't go to school," April said, sticking her tongue out at Evan. "So you were wrong. But you guessed my age about right."

"What? You're parents know you're a werewolf? Are they werewolves? Were you born that way?" He questioned, surprised that parents would still be able to love a supernaturalchild. His family surely didn't. But that was long ago, wasn't it? The world had changed. "So those boy's weren't from a highschool? Hmm. They seemed stuck up enough to be." He joked, trying to change the subject in his head.

"No. They're not werewolves, but our ancestors were. I got the werewolf gene, and here I am... Oh, and I knew those boys in junior high. They were just as stuck up as they are now." She finished her coffee, and pushed the mug to the side of the table. "Dumb boys, beating innocent animals," she mumbled to herself, sounding like a little girl. She then crossed her arms and said, "So, anything else interesting happen in your life?"

Out of all his time, Effrayant had never known of "The Werewolf Gene". That really didn't surprise him, though. It's not like he had a bunch of supernaturals friends to teach him anything. He didn't have any friends at all, for that matter. "Interesting?" He questioned, trying to think back on his life "Well, I fell in love, but that's a story for a different time. Hmm, I got mugged once!" He paused to sigh. "That's it, I guess." He drank some tea and laughed in self-pity.

"Hmm... Never fallen in love, and never gotten mugged. Your life is way more interesting than mine. The only thing that's interesting about me is that I can turn into a wolf." April rolled her eyes. "And the transformation hurts, too." She yawned, and leaned back in her chair. "So, does being vampy give you any special abilities, and do you drink human blood?"

"Well, considering only two interesting think have happened to me and I'm almost 150 years old, I'm pretty sure my life is boring." He sipped tea before aswering her most recent question. "I can read minds, slightly control minds, and no, I drink animal blood." He said quickly, hoping the questions would end.

"You're lucky. I can't do any cool stuff like that. So... I'm done quizzing you. If you have any questions for me, now's the time to ask," she said, smiling. April then heard the shouts of the boys again, and turned around to face them. "Lookie here, boys," said the ring leader, whose cheek was badly bruised from April's punch. "Looks like the girl found herself a body guard." He gestured to Effrayant. The three others chuckled. "I can handle you guys on my own. A few more kicks to the groin, and you won't be able to have kids." She growled, a gutteral animal noise. The boys looked at April and surprise. "Let's get out of here. That girl's a freak." April clenched her fists. If anything, they were the freaks. At least April had some sort of paternal instinct, shown by saving the dog that they had beaten earlier in the day.

((Late....)) "I wouldn't say lucky. Being deceived by the love of your life doesn't sound very lucky to me." Evan said, more defencive than he meant it. Then Evan sensed people. The boys that had chased April. The leader had a nasty bruise on his cheek, and the others still walked funny. Effrayant wanted to help as they spat warnings at her, but they were gone just as quick as they came.

Effrayant was elated when he found that the napkin held April's number. "Bye!" He called after her with a goofily wide grin smacked on his face. He gathered his think and headed back to his apartment. Luckily, they were only a few blocks away and he didn't need to drive. When he arrived, he plopped down on his couch and forced himself to remeber April's number by heart.

April arrived at her house, and sat down at the dinner table. She couldn't wait until she turned 18. She wanted to get out of the small house, and get into one of her own. She wolfed down a bowl of cereal, and walked up the stairs to her room. Her room's walls were silver, and her bed spread was leopard print with baby-blue stripes on it. She ran a brush through her white hair, and sat on her bed. She had her cell phone in her pocket, so she would be ready if Evan called her.

After memorizing all seven digits, Evan wanted to call. Or would that be too desperate? Wait, did it even matter? Effrayant was already bad enough, it couldn't get worse. Oh what the heck. He thought as he slowly punched in the numbers into his cellphone. ((F-fail.))

April felt her phone vibrate in her pocket. She reached down into it, and picked it up. She thought before answering it. She wasn't sure if it was Evan, but she hoped it was. Finally, she pressed the answer button, and put the phone up to her ear. "Hello?" she said, smiling to herself.

The phone rang a few times before it was picked up. April answered. "Hey, April. I'm guessing you know this is Evan. Just wanted to say Hi." He pasued for a moment to think, and said lamely "What's up?"
