Demi fell back on to her chosen bed. It cushioned her fall decently, and she nodded with approval. Her nights would be comfortable.
"Nice to meet you both." She said, leaning back slightly and supporting herself with her arms.
"Um, I'm Demi." She replied, her eyes a bit unfocused, as if she were distracted. After a moment she sighed and ran her hand through her long brown hair.
"So what's your 'gift'?" Demi asked, trying for a casual tone.
What Rope had said at the sign-in desk had gotten her curious. Did that mean that this camp was for people like her? With unnatural powers, such as manipulating elements?
She was about to find out. If the girl, Dusk, had a power like her, it would confirm her suspicions. And she would definitely feel more comfortable here.

As Dusk held her bitten finger and glared sightlessly at the dragon, she answered Demi. "Well, I don't know.... I was sent here from the orphange after a flash flood. They told me I caused it." Dusk shrugged. "I was really angry at the time, so they could be right, but what are the odds. I mean, this could be an animatron." She poked the dragon with her finger, earning her whap from the spikes onMizu's tail. There went that idea...

Demi blinked, her ex
pression falling slightly. Well, that didn't tel me much. 'Causing' a flood could have been a number of things, and not all of them supernatural. For all she knew, Dusk could have made a hole in a small, local dam.
"I see." She said quietly.
She fell silent again. The way things were going, she was never going to find out if this camp was really for people like her.
After a moment her recklessness took over, and she decided to throw all caution to the wind to see how Dusk would react.
"I can fly." She said bluntly, out of nowhere.

"I can breathe underwater." Dusk tucked her arms behind her back, keeping her fingers out of reach from the angry dragon, Mizu. Mizu growled and settled down in her lap. She curled her tail around her body and closed her eyes. Dusk placed the dragon on the bed away from her. "Flying huh...." she shuddered, she hated heights because she couldn't feel anything...

A bell rang, waking Rope from his nap; he didnt even know he had volunteered for one. He checked his horsehair-bracelet-turned-watch for the time; 3:30 pm. Lunch. He'd slept for about 15 minutes. His watch returned to normal and he stood up with his arms out as he stretched. "Wonder what the food's like here."

Well, that worked. Demi thought, her eyes wide.
Breathing underwater sounded interesting enough, though she was glad she had an air manipulation power rather than water. Swimming was fun and all, but it wasn't as easy to move around as air. The waves were dark and unforgiving, with creatures lurking in the depths.
Air was open and free. She smiled, just remembering the feeling of soaring absurdly high above the earth. She had almost been spotted by planes a few times.
"It's a bit more than flying actually. I can manipulate wind and air, and jump really high. My bones are hollow." She continued. She didn't want Dusk to know only half the truth.
Just then, a bell chimed from somewhere in the distance. Demi glanced at the clock; it was 3:30. According to the reminder sheet that had been posted on the door of their cabin, it was lunch time.
Demi got up from her bed and opened the door.

"I have water manipulation and gills. I have fins in the water, so it is much easier to move around." she wasn't trying to o ne-up Demi, but she wanted Demi to know more than just the little things, especially because only the water manipulation was mentioned on the little card she had hanging on her bed...

"Ah! Food food food food food!" Rope jumped off the top stair of his cabin and started running. Then he remembered; I have no idea where the mess hall is... He made a face and turned a three-sixty, looking around to see if her could spot it.

Demi blinked, then a smile lit up her face. She was glad to have Dusk as a cabinmate.
"Let's go." She said. "I don't like the idea of missing out on food."
She waited for Dusk at the door. She didn't think the blind girl would need help at all, but Demi still wanted to walk with her. It was better than walking alone.

"Ok." dusk hopped off the bed and followed Demi out of the cabin, wondering what the food would taste like. As she followed the other girl, she felt her dragon coul herself around Dusk's arm and fall asleep again. Dusk winced as the spikes dug into her arm, but ignored it...

Demi realized, once they were outside, that she didn't even know where the mess hall was. She glanced around, but saw no sign of it.
Rope was doing the same. Demi blinked. "Rope!" She called, then motioned him over. "I know where the mess hall is!"
It was a lie. "I will in a second though." She muttered to herself.
She kicked off the ground, rushing upwards through the air. It was a fairly weak takeoff, so she twisted, still airborne. The air around her twisted as well, and lifted her higher.
She was a good fifty feet up now. It was mostly trees all around. Narrowing her eyes against the sun's glare, Demi peered along the trees.
She saw the mess hall. It was actually in the middle of the thick forest, though not far at all from their cabins.
Demi let herself plummet to the earth at a terrifying speed, her white, dress-like tank top fluttering in the wind. She met the ground without cushioning her fall, and felt a slight shock run up her legs.
"That way." She said, jerking her thumb in the direction of the mess hall.

"Hmph." Dusk said. She had already been walking towards the mess hall. Because of her heightened senses, one of the perks of being blind, she had smelt cooking before even the sensitive noses of the dogs that she could feel running towards the mess hall...
