Haruki's wide eyes shifted.  A human.  And one who seemed at least somewhat friendly, at that.  He grinned, his tail wavering back and forth with just the tiniest hint of delight.  He rolled his tongue in his mouth, thinking of the right sounds to produce.  He hadn't talked for some time now, and his knowledge of the english language was begginning to fade.

"He... Heyl..."  He attempted with a frustrated tilt of the head.  "Hieylo..."  And with a final go at it, he managed.  "Hello."  When this simple word was finally formed correctly, his voice came across as smooth and soft.  He then decided upon a bold move.  "What's your name?"  The boy offered almost flawlessly.  Secretly, he was highly proud of himself.

His ears perked, or one of them did, his glare focused on the shade of green in her eyes.  He'd never seen green eyes before, as it wasn't a common trait where he was from.  He enjoyed their appearance, resembling a pair of twinkling emeralds.

Zara, on the other hand, stepped slowly towards the cage of a tiger hybrid.  She kept her distance, rather fearful of the creature.  He looked fierce, and yet strangely graceful.  She gave a tiny smile, examing the creature further.

"Umm....  Hello?"  She asked, as if she were testing to see if he could talk.  "I'm Zara."  Hesitantly, she did something out of character for herself.  She offered her smaller- than- average hand to the boy through the bars of the cage, at the same time reading the name tag attached.  "Maelen.  That's unique."

Maelen's ears perked up when he heard footsteps approaching his cage, the tiger twisting around to stare at a human female, his dark grey, almost black, eyes focusing onto her in an almost angry fashion. "Unique name for a unique mutant," he growled softly, his tail twitching in an irritated manner as he started to pace again, ears pulled back. "They can't keep a tiger locked up in a little cage...A tiger is a wild animal, and a big one at that. Why do I have such a small cage!" he mumbled, ending with a sharp growl.

It was obvious form hsi actions that he desperately wanted out to experience freedom. He hated it in here! It was degrading!

"You can't put a tiger on a leash, either, so what's the point of making a tiger for a 'pet?" he muttered crossly, letting out a frustrated sound.

The tall girl was taken aback when the strange mixture of a creature brought his eyes up to meet hers and answered her back. She wasn't sure if she had simply not expected such a fast answer, or if she was surprised by the fact it could talk at all. Both thoughts apalled her and she quickly shoved them aside. 

As the boy tried to force out the simplest of greetings, her heart began to sink. Perhaps he really was dumb after all, but at last, he managed the word. She smiled, her creased eyebrows going up and her eyes sparkling. Then it spoke again. She backed up a pace, eyes going wide at the question. Her name? He wished to know her name? "I'm..Mist." Her voice was clearly in awe, whether she wanted it to be or not. On reflex, she stuck out her hand to him in the friendly gesture of a handshake. 

Shay looked around. More and more people were coming in. With every door chime, a new face would appear. So new names would come. Along with Blondie and Kid, there was now Niceness(Mist), Face(Kohaku), Tinee(Shawn), Dewd(Allen), and Silent(Cole, heehee). Wow. Lots more names. What now? Who would pick her? ..Nobody? Well, that's fine. No, it... it's actually ok. The more Shay thought about it, the more it seemed ok if she was left behind.

Cole looked around and saw lots of different pets with different looks and expressions. All looked nice. But the first he went to was... "Kella". That's what the sign said - Kella. That was a nice name.  Plus, the pet looked pretty.  Cole liked this one.  "Hello," he said to Kella.

Kella looked up as a person spoke. 'Hello', the boy said. "H....Hi," Kella said, looking at the boy who stopped at her cage. The girl, pet, twirled her tail around her body, and she started playing with it in her hands.

"Who're you?" Kella asked him, not bothing to even look up. Her tail was all in interest at the moment. It would take a few minutes of chatter for her to decide if she wanted to be with this person or not. Though, the girl was so unobservant, she didn't notice what this boy looked like, though she would probably notice it later.

Cole smiled.  "I'm Cole.  How are you, Kella?"  This pet was nice.  Perhaps he'd get this one.  She could be his friend.  Well, maybe.  If things went well.  What if giving out his name might be bad, though?  But he'd already done it... What if Kella suddenly hated him and decided to hunt him out for the rest of her life?  She'd know his name now!

WAIT.

Now, that was just not rational thinking, was it?  Stupid Cole...

Calyx paced around in her cage, her ears were now folded forward. She was obviously listening for anyone threatening. Her tail was in a neutral position. She had her eyes clamped shut. She didn't need them anymore, and she was tired. Staying up every night on the look out did that to a hybrid. She was grumpy, starving, and some annoying flea was bouncing around in her tail and it was quite annoying. In one swift movement, and snapped her neck back and clamped her mouth on her tail. She picked out the flea, and crunched down. The snap of the insect's body echoed through the petstore. She spit it out and layed down. No one wanted a wolf hybrid-- For one, she was dangerous. Two, everyone wanted something mroe cude and cuddly, such as a cat. She hated the animals. Or hybrids. What ever the hell they were. She put her ears in a neutral position and dozed off, completly oblivious to a human's footsteps coming near her.

"Hey, Calyx,"

She snapped alert, tail fluffed up and her ears layed down flat upon her rat-nest of hair on her head. She bared her canines at the intruder. How dare that-that human dirty her name with that sick mouth of its! She snapped at the cage bars. She didn't plan on being 'adopted'. She let out a low growl, her eyes darting to and fro. They flickered dangerously.
