(( It's a fantastic set of books, I'd suggest everyone read even if it isn't for this RP. xD
And don't worry about it too much. I've got some ideas if you all are in need of a little thought push, but otherwise you can take a bit of time. And we aren't going to adhere completely to the books, so as long as you can RP with a human/elf and a dragon "bond", sona, you'll be fine. I can work with using the teachers when we get deeper into this, and help you learn a bit about the series in a 'realistic' way if you like- it gives you the opportunity to make believable or real mistakes, and it adds a little bit of personal fun and exploration to the plot. c: We can use the teachers as a medium for explaining the details later on. Sound alright for everyone? ))

A fire-like breeze brushed the copper red hair from Kaylee's face as she quietly made her way to the very edge of the one place she was supposed to stay away from more than anywhere else. The forest of Du Weldenvarden was in a fragile slumber in the early morning. Birds sang a hushed song in the branches above, and Kaylee advanced farther into the slowly waking forest in search of adventure, just as she did every day.
Kaylee wound through the trees, her notebook hidden in her pocket. She had come out to draw, as usual. Walking slowly and carefully, she was sure not to disturb the peace of the wild. It couldn't change the fact that she stopped dead in her tracks as a piercing scream reached her ears.
Kaylee looked around in panic. The scream still rang in her mind as she tried to gather herself together. She had only heard a thing so terrifying once before in her life, and she had tried to forget it with all of her might. Kaylee felt like curling up on the cold earth beneath her, but something told her she couldn't.

A bird lifted its head to sing, sending its bright voice all through the guard barracks. "Lun!" A woman groaned, pulling the rough covers of a blanket over her face. More birds started answering the first bird's call and the woman finally emerged from her covers; she was wearing a very nasty face as she did so. She rolled out of bed, her golden hair tangled with knots and leaves from sleeping on a bed made for an animal. "Stupid Lun and his birds." She muttered as she pulled on her tle="" href="http://ludicrousmods.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/guar09.jpg">guard outfit. "Miss Dracona, I heard you calling." the girl spun around to face a clean-shaven man with chain mail and a long sword attached to his belt. "How many times have I told you that my name is Avalia? Anyway, mind shutting up the birds." Well, elves are supposed to be connected to nature, but Avalia obviously was not a morning person. "Alright. Will do M'lady." She was also the only female guard and the rest of the guards, even the nice ones, tended to think she was a little girl because of that. "Thanks." Avalia almost hissed. The man walked away and Ava started her way to the door of the guard barracks. "Where you going Elf!" A voice crowed as Avalia put her hand on the handle of a big, black door. "Why do you care, Midas." she snarled, opening the door. "Aww, the (female dog) has got some fight." He scoffed. Before she knew what she was doing, Avalia sent her leg into his stomach, knocking the wind out of him. "Go away, Midas." She snarled again and left the barracks. She climbed on her Mare, a large warhorse named Ocean, and rode off to the forested area outside of the city. Climbing off her horse, she tied her to a tree and placed her guards' helmet near the tree. Sticking her hand into a large bed of moss, Avalia retrieved her bow and arrows, putting them on her back. "Alright, let's give this ago." Unfortunately, she wasn't referring to her weapon of choice. she was referring to close-range combat magic. An enchanted set of armor stood in front of her. It could take anything that she threw at it and still stand. "Brisingr!" Ava shouted and shoved her hand forward, attempting to pinpoint where it would go. Instead, it exploded in her face, causing streaks of black to cover her like ash and burns to appear on her uncovered body parts. "Aduma." She muttered angrily, but the water she attempted to summon to put out the area around her, just came rushing down on top of her head. Great, now she was soaking and burnt. Midas would have some words to say about that when they were guarding the meeting. "The meeting!" She exclaimed, running to put her helmet back on her head. She pushed the metal being back to its place against the tree and pulled herself onto Ocean. the horse rejected the wetness, but reluctantly carried her to the meeting hall anyway. Avalia led Ocean to the stables and fed her some sugar cubes and hay. That kept her happy as Avalia ran to guard the entrance to the hall... ((That guard outfit, imagine it as blueish)

(( Kay guys, one quick thing; the city will be called "Helgrdras", meaning "sacred city". ))
Jayne's feet pounded across the surface of the softened earth, leaving a flurry of upturned, crumbling leaves in his wake. He sprinted through the trees as quickly as his legs could carry him, very narrowly dodging the trees that lined the gorge. In hindsight, it had been rather stupid of him to allow himself down in such an inescapable area, especially when he had the feeling that he had been being watched. He very much regretted the choice now as he was corralled down into a slight bowel in the center of the valley, boots slipping on the slope of the ridge each time he pressed to escape it.
Adrenaline absolutely tore through his system, making his blood run cold. He was panting as he continued to fly through the underbrush; underbrush that he did not fail to notice was thinning. He searched for a dip, a weak spot, an outlet as he ran... but nothing gave. He had already stumbled or stuttered a few times, but by now his left ankle was beginning to pain him seriously with each thudding step. He didn't think he had twisted it, but it was certainly starting to feel that way.
But not long after the shocking pain sparked in his lower leg, he stumbled enough to actually collide with one of the massive trees not far from his path. He felt the breath knocked from him as his own momentum twisted him sharply to the side, leaving him to skid a few feet before collapsing only a little ways from his impact. It was shocking enough, but it took him only a heartbeat to rise to his feet once more. What he saw when he arose was not exactly what he expected.
The dark-haired elf standing over him with cunning, watchful eyes was enough to make Jayne's thundering pulse stop dead. He tensed in shock, mind fluttering completely to a blank void, a single thing playing through him:
Fight or flight. Fight or flight. Fight or flight. Flight.
He twisted around and twitched forward just enough to feel his nose crunch into the metal and leather armor of another male. Before he could scramble back, he felt a hand tangle in his hair and lift his head sharply, drawing a bit of a cry from his lips. He reached up to claw at the fingers of the one holding him, but the dark-haired one grabbed his wrists before he could.
"Eka weohnata néiat haina ono," the elf behind Jayne spoke, holding fast to the human even as he started to writhe and twist away from them. Black eyes fixed in a cold glare at his captors, Jayne forcing every flicker of fear he felt behind an emotionless mask. Only those eyes betrayed the burning confusion and terror that gripped him; only they showed that he knew he was helpless. Then the thickly accented, smooth voice rose again, calmly and quietly this time, "I will not harm you if you become still." he promised.
Jayne didn't listen for a moment, testing the iron strength of those that held him in place. But eventually, seeing that there was no chance he would be able to force himself free, he slowly eased his struggles. There passed a long moment of silence throughout what seemed to be the entire forest, then the elf murmured something to the man Jayne had unintentionally rammed.
The human was dropped in the second that passed, left to find his balance as he stared up at the pair. He opened his mouth as if to snarl something at them, but the words refused to form on his tongue. Instead, the same elf murmured, "You will come with us to Helgrdras," he said, lifting a finger to point further down the valley where Jayne had before been chased to, "in the promise that we will not scathe you should you be the one we seek."
Jayne stared up, gaze flickering between the two. Then in a firm voice, he spat a very simple, "No."
(( The translation for "eka weohnata néiat haina ono" is "I will not harm you". Just a little marker. xD Also, with a first impression of Feyth's character, I like this woman. ;D ))

The scream reached Kaylee's ears again. She was going as fast as she could, not paying attention to how deep into the unwelcoming forest she was running. The woods were becoming thinner, as Kaylee noted. The scream rang out again, but this time stopped abruptly in middle-scream.
Kaylee stopped with the scream. She tilted her head, then waited. Her heart was pounding like a mouse's. Her breathing was heavy and coarse as she struggled to pull in another gulp of air. She waited. And waited. Nothing. The forest was silent once more. Kaylee looked around for any sign of the source of the screams.
There was nothing to lead Kaylee towards the person she had been following. She began to walk towards the direction she had last heard the screams. She heard a snap ahead of her, then something rustle leaves.
Kaylee quickened her pace to a run as she followed the sounds. Suddenly she felt a sharp pain in her foot, then felt her hands on the cold earth. She breathed a gasp as she found her face less than an inch from the ground. She let out a shaky breath as she slowly pushed herself up off of the ground.
"That was close..." Kaylee said to herself quietly. She had her eyes glued to her hands than now had thorns, sticks, and small pieces of leaves stuck to them. She began to brush them off, but an icy voice froze her.
"It's not often one of your kind would come this far for an echo of the trees," The voice murmured, "but I guess that's why I'm here." Kaylee slowly turned around, her eyes wide with surprise and shock. Her eyes met that of a gold haired elf.
"What?" Kaylee asked in a tiny, shaky voice. Her green eyes were filled with unease. It was apparent that she was frightened, if not for her voice, her eyes were a dead give away.
"It would be best for you to come without a fight." The man said, his eyes fixed in Kaylee's. Kaylee hesitated, but nodded.
((Lol. My reaction was the same as Cort's.))

Jayne glared at the back of the elf's head as he reluctantly followed him through the thick of the woods, glancing around on occasion simply to attempt marking where he was. To his great displeasure, he recognized absolutely nothing; he had come far deeper into the shadows of Du Weldenvarden than ever before. He felt weak without the ability to keep track of himself, even though he typically was one to embrace the unknown. He had long known these woods to be protected by these elusive people, but certainly never expected to encounter one, and even less to be their captive.
Where they were leading him, he had no idea. The name the one before him had used rang around in his skull, like the scent of smoke that he couldn't find the source of. Helgrdras. It had such a tauntingly familiar sound to it, but he couldn't come even close to placing it. On that train of thought, he grit his teeth as he walked. When were they going to tell him what they wanted? When were they going to tell him where they were-
-going...
Jayne's heart skipped a beat as the outline of walls glanced into his view, eyes straining as he peered through the ancient trees. His vision was playing tricks on him, it... it had to be. The elf scout, as Jayne assumed him to be, must have caught his look, because a moment later he turned to look the young man up and down. Why did he get the feeling he was testing him in some way? Jayne straightened his back and lifted his chin, clenching his jaw as he looked over the city outskirts, all now fulling coming into his view as the mists faded. He felt some twinge of awe coming over him, even under a scrutinizing gaze, but hid it from sight as well as he knew how.
Something he did must have pleased the scout, however, because when he went to turn away it was with a smile on his thin lips. Jayne scowled at that, even as the others started forward with hardly a pause. But this time, he planted his boots square on the littered ground, ex pression one of pure defiance.
"Look, I'm not going any further unless you tell me what you want with me." he said, hissing when the second elf set a hand on his shoulder and prodded him forward, "I don't care who, or what you are, I'm not moving." he shoved back, fists clenched even though he knew, -through recent experience-, fighting them wasn't a very good idea. It earned him a displeased growl, but it didn't dissipate his will.
"If he fights the Empire this firmly, we might finally have what we need," the scout murmured in a voice Jayne was quickly finding unnerving, "he has a strong will. Unfortunately," he turned to Jayne, "that will do you little good at the present. I have promised that we do not intend to harm you, is that not enough?"
"No, it isn't enough."
A sigh split the morning air, "...your questions will all be answered soon, you have my word."
Jayne didn't want to loose this, but something in that sickeningly calm and gentle voice told him that it was all he was going to get, no matter how hard he fought. He looked from the ground to the gold eyes of the sco-
"Then at least tell me your name."
There was a pause as a surprised look crossed the elf's face, but it was smoothed over again as quickly as a breath could be drawn, "Very well. My name is Marth Vanyaela, and this is Jace Malgeriu." he nodded to the other elf at the last part, honey-like gaze moving back to Jayne's.
"Jayne Cyress."
Something told him that his name was not previously unknown as Marth blinked, then left the human to wonder if this was something more than a bizarre coincidence as they merged with the city, finally being drawn within the outskirts.
(( I'm so tired, my mind is mush. This is going to be riddled with mistakes, but I'll edit it in the morning. ))

Kaylee shifted uneasily as the pair of elf and human walked through the ever thinning woods. Her eyes were fixed solely on the elf that walked before her, leading her to where ever they were going to. Kaylee had dared not to ask any questions so far, and not knowing where they were going or why they were going there was killing her.
"Where are we going?" Kaylee blurted out. She stopped for a moment, then tilted her head. She stopped for a moment, then tilted her head. She regretted saying anything the moment the words left her lips, but when she saw that the elf had not stopped walking she quickened her pace to catch up with him.
"Helgrdras." The elf said in a voice Kaylee found surprisingly even for a situation such as this. It didn't take long for Kaylee to raise the next question.
"Helgrdras?" Kaylee inquired.
"Yes." The elf said in the same even voice. She had a feeling she wouldn't get any more about this "Helgrdras".
"Why are we going there?" She asked him, hoping to get an actual answer this time.
"Your questions will be answered in due time." He replied. Kaylee sighed in frustration.
So much for answers, She thought to herself.
"We are here." The elf spoke in a slightly different voice; this time with a small flicker of happiness.
"I don't see-" Kaylee began, but stopped abruptly, "-anything..." she finished, her voice filled with sudden awe. Through the looming trees before her, suddenly the entire image clicked. It was a city.
((Sorry it took me so long. My brain is in a mush mode... xD ))

"Why are you soaking, Dracona!" Her superior growled, examining her wet
figure. Her outfit clung to her body, showing off her curves. Having
been born in an icy climate, Ava was used to the cold and not really
bothered by the wetness seeping into her body. "Anyway, Dracona, the
elves are coming with the people, go retrieve them and lead them here."
He spat on the ground in front of her, making her wonder, once again,
why she was even a guard.
Oh yes. Because he said that anybody
who could shoot a target from 200 feet away, without magic, would
automatically become a guard. Having been training with a bow and arrow
since she was a young elf, she beat him quite easily. He may not have
known she was female, but that wasn't the point. He hated her now. "Yes
sir!" she saluted, ever the good guard, and trotted off.
A little
ways into the forest, she heard footsteps and pulled out her bow.
Whether they were friend or foe, it was always good to be prepared. A
golden eyed elf, who looked quite like her sister, stepped on the
path. "I'm here to escort you to the hall." Avalia bowed and held out
her hand to shake the other woman's...
