The Elder's eyes seemed to brighten slightly as he looked the pair over, ex
pression one of pensive thought, "Long I have sought you, long I have waited for you to stand before me. Countless years have passed since the last mortals were welcomed to this sanctuary," he paused, as if watching a distant memory, "but none have ever shone so bright with the future. I have stood guardian of these walls from a time before your ancestors discovered this land, and I have been searching, searching, always searching..." he trailed off into silence for a long moment, turning his gaze to the stone floors. He remained like this for a while, then his gaze suddenly flashed back to the others as if realizing something very important for a time other than the first, "but time matters nothing, now that you are all here."
With the silence that followed, Jayne glanced up and dared to murmur, "Why were we taken like this? What do you want with us?"
The Elder's eyes absolutely gleamed, "You of all people should know the tales, Jayne Gableson, after all those years you listened to the old village storyteller when you believed no others to be looking."
The young man's eyes narrowed slightly to hide his shock, but he got the sense that the elf before him saw through regardless. In the flow of his surprise, he managed to hiss, "I do not remember any elves being there to see me, even as a child."
"It would not be expected of a human to do so. But it matters little now..." he paused, touching his withered lips pensively, "...you were always one to enjoy riddles, I remember this clear as the sun. So tell me, little one- nay, show me that you remember." the ancient leaned forward in his seat, raising his voice in song.
Little dawn hunter
chased through the skies
show the way to Asthsmere
where the Stones still lie
Light will touch the white One
clad in the purest of truth
Night will touch the black One
at night gleaming with youth
Heat will be kindled
the Gaurdians must cope
young men will be tested
as will all our hope
Little dawn hunter...
"...these Stones are the last,
young men will be tested,
we wait for one to hatch." Jayne's voice rose suddenly, a fog slowly forming over ashen eyes as if he were in a bewildered daze, all the memories of the stories suddenly flooding his mind. Yes, he remembered this song, he remembered the stories that accompanied it.
"So long suppressed, but never truly forgotten," the Elder closed his eyes, smiling down at the boy, "this one sees it now. This one knows. But what of you, my dear?" he looked to the girl, "Have you before heard the Legend of the Riders?"
(( Sorry for the wait, the monologue, and the crappy poetry, I had to make it up on the spot. xD Trying to get things moving, but not wanting to take over completely. This is my best at this point. ))

Kaylee was still in a trance when the Elder spoke. She payed no heed to anything after the first part. She noticed a voice change, then it change back. The old and worn out voice of the elder rose in song, then died as another picked up the notes. "So long suppressed but never truly forgotten," Kaylee heard him say. She seemed to awaken from her daze as the eyes of the elder closed. She suddenly began to see things other than the elder that for long held her gaze in his stone-like grasp. "this one sees it now. This one knows. But what of you, my dear?" Kaylee caught her breath as the eyes of the elder turned to her. She dropped her gaze instantly as to not be captured in the iron prison his eyes held open for her. "Have you before heard the Legend of the Riders?" Kaylee mulled it over for a moment before saying, "Yes. I remember my brother told them to me as a bedtime story once our parents died." Kaylee remembered. A fog seemed to drift over her eyes as little flickers of memories flowed into her mind. She remembered little sparks from the fire and a word here and there that had once before caught her attention. "So long ago..." She muttered under her breath as she tried to reconstruct a few words and make them a sentence. She wasn't sure if she could do it all as more words poured into her mind, distracting her from the sentence she had almost completed. You should tell him, Kaylee. He will remind you; tell them again just as Kaylib told you as a child, A voice spoke up in her head. The thought of hearing the stories again made Kaylee's heart beat faster. From the very first word that her brother had told her of the stories, she had adored them. No. I must remember on my own, She told herself. She had a feeling that this was exactly what the elder wanted her to do, but once more, she couldn't be sure. Kaylee stared at the live carpet, wondering if she should steal one glance up at the elder, just to be certain she was doing as he wished. She was afraid of being trapped in the iron gaze of the ancient elf that sat before her. "I-I can't remember..." She stuttered, her throat starting to close. Her chin began to tremble slightly as she thought of how disappointed her brother may have been with her. (( YUS. Then suddenly his gaze danced over to one of the guards behind the others, a flicker of something there, "I miss nothing in this Hall or any other, Dracona." he muttered, peering at her.

Avalia looked up at the other elf. "I'm sorry? Me? I'm only a guard. Don't mind me." She stuttered, staggering a bit. She felt her face grow hot as she felt eyes on the back of her head, giggling at her. Midas.... She thought, spinning around to face the peeping eyes. She had thought she'd closed the door. "Get out." She said though gritted teeth. She pushed the door closed, ignoring the taunts.
"I'm sorry for the disruption, I will make sure it doesn't happen again."
