Kyle smiled at her apology. It was unnecessary, of course. He might have been just the drummer, but he wasn't completely instrument stupid. Okay, that might have been a lie. Drums were the only think he really excelled at, since his voice was shaky at best. He was much more the rhythm guy, keeping everyone else on track.
A smile creeped up on his lips as Kora began without him. He paused for a second to listen to the music, deciding his beats. Then, without his noticing, he began to tap it out on the edge of the keyboard. Slow and steady? Indeed.

Silver nodded "that sounds like a great idea we have this in the bag" she said smiling as she finished sketching the guitar "I will finish the guitar if you do the microphone" she said as she kept sketching.

Kora paused for a second, because her voice was getting shaky. She had always wanted to be a singer and her voice was very beautiful, but she had never been able to sing long periods of time without her voice cracking.
Hey, I need some water, I'll be right back.
She ran and grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge in the kitchen, and downed it almost immediately. She grabbed another one and headed back into the room.
Sorry about that, my voice was cracking. So, I think we have most of the lyrics, the drum music, and the keyboard music done, but we still have to wright the guitar part. I can't really play the guitar except for the most simple of chords, it is one of the only instruments I actually can't play. I don't suppose you know how to either?
Kora reached her hands up and tied her hair into a braid with red white and blue ribbons intertwined. She had been working on it nervously the entire practice time, her hands always needed something to do when she wasn't playing the keyboard.
Well, if you don't know how to play the guitar, I guess one of us is going to need to learn, because there is no way Chance is helping us.
She ran over and grabbed two of the guitars they brought along just in case. She handed one to Kyle, and put the strap around her own head. She played a note, and it was horribly off tune, but it would have to work if they were ever going to beat the other team.
Okay Kyle, show me watcha got.

Chance nodded and started laughing lightly as he herd Kora play the guitar. He imediently shut up and smiled, blushing, his cheeks geting bright red. He finally took his mind off it and leaned back into the chair and let out a soft yawn.

Kora looked behind her when she heard Chance laughed. She had really thought she was doing well after not touching a guitar for five years, but that was apparently not everyone's opinion.
Jerk.
She muttered under her breath, then looked down at her guitar. She couldn't believe it when she saw the UK flag.
Well, what do you know, I am not the only Brit in this country.
She reached down and tuned the guitar, and soon it slowly started to sound much better. Then she played the note.
Perfect. Come on Kyle, you try something too.

Silver nodded "I can make the border pretty good and some good shading by the microphone so we have the colored flames and then the gray and black microphone with some cool shading at the edges of it and the border." she said looking to see what he thought about her idea.

Kyle couldn't help but chuckle as he heard Kora mutter under her breath, presumably about Chance. Looks like he wasn't the only one annoyed by the lad after all. Then again, she could be talking about him. That certainly could be an option. Not that he was a jerk or anything.
Kyle gingerly picked up the guitar and wrapped the strap around his shoulder. He never liked the guitar because it was so delicate. Much unlike drums. Drums you could just... beat away like no tomorrow. Guitar required skilled hands and a gentle touch. Something he was not all too good at. But, the man had to try. For the sake of the bet.
Slowly, Kyle began plucking out notes. As he hummed the piano part, his fingers freely flowed over the guitar strings, playing out a soft melody. So unlike him. It almost sounded, well, good. That is, until his hand slipped on the instrument, slicing his finger against the metal cords.
"Dammit." He cursed under his breath, throwing his cut finger into his mouth to stop the slow bleeding.

Oh my God Kyle!
Kora was extremely surprised. He had been doing really well, and it actually sounded perfect until he had cut himself. His finger was bleeding heavily, she could see blood on him and he had sprayed some on her.
That doesn't look to good. I'm going to go get you some bandages. It might stop the bleeding a little.
She ran to her backpack. One of her few quirks was that she brought a little first aid kit with her everywhere. She ran back to where Kyle was and set the bandage next to him along with some disinfectant. She started writing down the notes Kyle had played. Wait a minute, that was the last part they had needed. They had one the contest!
I'll wrap that for you if you want Kyle, but right now I have a little bragging to do. We just finished the guitar music.
She turned around and faced the other two bands members.
Guess who just finished the last bit of their half? You guys are going to have something REAL fun to do.
She smirked. She rarely won at anything. It felt good. Really good.

Kyle waved off Kora's worry with his free hand and he took care of his own hand. And 'taking care' of his hand meant stopping the bleeding with pressure. And that? Well, that meant him sitting on it. Yes, the dumb brute actually sat on his bleeding hand. That would really help heal it up nicely.
Kyle watched as the girl got him supplies for his finger. What did he need that disinfectant stuff for? Hell, he'd just superglue it back together and put some duct tape on top to cover it up. No need for that white... gauze stuff. Men didn't bandage their hands. They toughed through the pain and blood and guts, if it went that far.
The man stood up and looked at his hand, then at the back of his pants. Minimal amount of blood on his faded jeans, sweet. Also, the bleeding had slowed down. That was a plus, yes?
"High five, Kora!" Zane said excitedly, raising his good hand towards his partner. |
