Jace scooped Marina up into his arms, and smiled at Calyx. "That's good to hear," he said, blinking a few times. His clothes had aquired a few more slices in them than from before. He sighed, and shucked off his jacket. It revealed a white button-up shirt underneath, with a pale green tie. His hair was ruffled and messy, but he still had his roses.

Jace hugged her back, stiffling a sad sigh. "Tell you what," he mumbled into her ear. "You can have my Mommy and Daddy. I'll be moving out soon, and I don't want them to get lonely. So as soon as we find a way to get home, I'll let you stay with them. You can have my room." He let his eyes settle on Calyx. The look in them was inreadable to Marina, but the meaning was clear. What if we never get home?

Poppy stiffened, turning her head towards them slowly. The pounding in her head increased until white light exploded in front of her eyes. She was suddenly watching in slow motion as the people hiding lunged at them. They carried knives; one sunk into Shota's heart and.... Bam. She was slammed back into the present. "Shota!" she gasped. "Move to the right! Now!" ___________ Jace smiled weakly. "I think I'm good. Want anything, Marina?" He asked, stroking her hair gently.
