Mallick felt the pain leave his head, and his vision slowly began to return. But it was still very fuzzy, and he could only make out vauge outlines of objects and people. He heard Rukiea's shout and turned his head. It looked as if the last man was strangling Rukiea against a tree. She was struggling, and probably didn't have much time left. His blood boiled, and he ran at the man, sword outstreached, running him through with the weapon. Mallick stood back, surprised at what he had just done. His vision had completely returned now, and he stared at the lifeless body on the ground. He'd never had to kill anyone before. So this is what it felt like. Even though the man had tried to kill Rukiea, he had only been following orders. Mallick shook himself out of his trance. It was not the time. Rukiea might need his help.

Rukiea fell to the floor and gasped a couple of times. Her eyes were shut tightly from the pain and struggling. She could barely hear anything and she only heard the THUD the man had made when Mallick ran his through and the THUD she made against the floor. Her airway was free but she was weak. She was still deprived of air from all the time it took for Mallick to kill the man. She dug her fingers into the dirt and slowly opened her eyes. She was scared of seeing Mallick. She was unsure if Mallick had killed the man, or the man had released her to kill Mallick. Her vision was fuzzy and she tried to sit up but her arms were weak from lack of oxygen to the muscles. She collapsed and looked up. She was Mallick, alive and well. The wound didn't look that bad anymore. She coughed and looked at Mallick. "M-Mallick... D-do not.... move me.... till i -i am.... awake again..." She shut her eyes and huffed. She was sucking in air and she fell into unconscienceness. |

Mallick knelt by Rukiea's side and checked her pulse, hoping that she was alive. He sighed with relief at feeling a steady beat, but he was still worried. Her face was pale, and her neck had red welts where the man had been strangling her. "Don't die on me, Rukiea...", Mallick muttered, looking down at her, "Jake would never forgive me..."

Jay gave a small smile. "I don't doubt that Jake, I really don't." He said, and glanced at Maybell. "You know, he would be under even more scrutiny if he was still tied up." He said in a light voice, hoping they would understand he wasn't as angry about it.

Jake nodded and clenched his teeth. He was far from them, but Jake picked up the faint traces of Mallick's and Rukiea's emotions. He knew the man had been killed and Rukiea was injured. He decided not to intervere. He wanted Mallick to prove he was as trustworthy as he said he was. He was upset a little by the fact his sister was so defensless when Mallick had shown up next to her and she was tending to him when the man grabbed her. Mallick.. i swear.. you better help her. If she dies, i'm going to kill you... Rukiea opened her eyes slowly and looked at the sky past Mallick's head. She looked at Mallick and her eyes flashed red. "N-no... more... people are... coming this... way.." She sat up slowly and fell into Mallick. Her head on his chest and her hip against his knees. She was weak and needed to stand up. She put her hands on his knees and tried to push herself into a sitting position. Her eyes went back to gold. |

"Rukiea, no, I'll help you. After what happened, you need to rest.", Mallick said, lifting Rukiea gently into his arms and beginning to walktwoards the castle as quickly as possible while not hurting Rukiea. |

Rukeai put her head on his shoulder and wrapped her arms around his neck. He looked at Mallick and gave a small smile. He put her head down and shut her eyes. She was tired, hurt, and in the care of a man who just helped her. She felt somewhat safe and fine. Her hair fell in front of her face and she yawned. "Mallick... Thank you for saving me.. I owe you.."

"You're welcome, Rukiea. But it is the other way around. You killed all the others, and protected me.I could only repay the favor.", Mallick replied, smilling slightly. "I think maybe Jake was right about one thing...", He thought, "I think Rukiea might just be the right person for me." |

She smiled slightly. "I can only protect those I believe have a good purpose and if Jake trusts you, then it's finewith me. Plus, you were defenseless... I had to help you.. But even if I wasgoing be killed, i'd protect my friends." She put her head back on his shoulder and was finally breathing normally. She was still weak but she was getting normal air flow. At least one thing was improving... Maybe Mallick is for me.. He did save me.. And I think Jake had predicted this... But I can tell later on.. She smiled.

Mallick nodded, before saying, "We're here.", as the castle came into view. He walked through the door, opening it with a single well-placed kick, and went into the room where Jay and the othes were. Setting Rukiea on the bed, he looked at the stunned princess. "She'll be fine", he said, "We saved each other's butts back there." "What I want to know is who attacked you!", Maybell exclaimed, her eyes locked on their injuries. Mallick's hair was bloody, although there was no wound to be seen, and Rukiea had red marks on her neck. |

Rukiea opened her eyes and sat up. "Oh ow." She put her hand on her neck and rubbed it gently. "Some guys from Jake's troupe.. They were all more built thatn Jake too. It was pretyt easy when we were hidden in the smoke, but one man managed to ellude me and he got me."

"Yes", Mallick said, "I fell out of the tree and hit my head... Rukiea poured something on the wound and killed all but the biggest soldier. He had her pinned against a tree, strangling her. I managed to run him through before she died. That was the first time I'd ever killed anyone... It wasn't an enjoyable feeling." |

Rukiea nodded and smiled. "Luckily he was able to kill th eman when he did. My vision was already going black and i knew I had mere seconds before I was dead." She looked at Mallick and smiled. "Thanks."

Rukiea's heart jumped a beat. She smiled as he smiled. "Well, I hope we can trust you Mallick. I'd hate to kill someone like you." She smiled and her heart beat a little faster. W-What's going one? As soon as he smiled, my heart skipped a beat. I've felt this one before.. No... It can't be! I'm.... No way!
