Jay quickly looked down at Maybell, surprised at what he heard. He started to smile, happy that he finally knew what she felt for him, but then remembered the others in the room. He cleared his throat, glancing at them. "Well, thank you Jake, but I do believe that something like this should be handled between Maybell and myself."

Maybell's heart fell, and she quickly looked away, trying to keep the tears from leaving her eyes. "Oh", she whispered, her voice wavering, "You're probably right. My guardian shouldn't get his emotions mixed with his work. It might cause problems. I'd probably be a distraction." She was crestfallen, and almost sobbing in front of the group, so she left, returning to her room. When she got there, she broke down, crying into her pillow. Nothing romantic ever worked out for her. "Now look what you've done!", Leena scolded, shaking her head, "She was finally brave enough to say something, regardless of the fact that she's lost her first love TWICE, and you say something stupid like that!" |

Rukiea looked at Jay and shook her head solemly. "That's was very smart Jay..." She walkedto Maybell's room and shut the door behind her when she walked in. "Hey, Ma- Princess Maybell. Listen, you don't need to be so upset." She sat down next to the weeping princess. Her voice soft and friendly. "Jay doesn't consider how others will feel when he's about to talk. Please don't fret." Jake's eyes flashed silver. "Look at what you did. She's terribly sad and you don't even seem to be moving to her room." He let go of Leena and walked over to him. He grabbed his shirt and began to pull Jay toward the stairs. "YOU have to go fix this... Or so help me..." |

Jay pulled himself free. "I don't need you to solve my problems!" He said angrily. "I know what I said was stupid and I'm going to fix it. Just let me go!" He said, jogging up the rest of the stairs by himself. Stopping at the door of Maybell's room, he let his hand rest on the doorknob. He could hear a soft sobbing and Rukiea's voice and he took a breath before he went in. Walking over to Rukiea, he quietly asked if she could leave so he could talk to Maybell alone.

Rukiea's eyes flashed red and she stood up and walked out. She was lucky to have her gift. She could be behind a closed door and still see what was happening inside the room. "Fine." She shut the door and sat by the wall. She stuck her fingers in her ears.

Maybell ignored Rukiea when she tried to comfort her. The last few times it had helped, but the results had never been the desireable ones. But she did, however, look up when Jay entered the room. Her eyes were slightly red, and her face tearstained. "What is it?", she asked softly.

"Should I take it as a good sign that you are still talking to me?" Jay asked, with half a smile but that soon faded. "Maybell, what I said back there...I didn't mean anything horrible by it. It's just that, I don't need or want them to get involved in my personal life. And I also don't want anyone to be broadcasting my feelings when I'm not even sure about them myself." He came over to the edge of her bed and knelt there. "But that was really stupid because it ended up hurting you. I never meant to do that."

"I know", Maybell whispered, "You would never hurt me, but I was in as much of a situation as you were, and I've lost Zane twice... I thought for once, it would work out. For once, I'd get my happily ever after. Do you think I wanted my feelings to be spoken aloud? No, but I used it as an oppertunity. You let your uncertainty take over, and in doing that, embarased me."

"You know, there is plenty of time for you to get a happily ever after. Me being stupid shouldn't put a stop to that. And as for using it as an opportunity, I'm glad you did. Because I finally knew how you felt about me and when you said what you did, I was ecstatic! And thinking back on it, I wish that I was able to do the same and didn't embarr*censored* you but, well, I almost always say something without thinking first."

"So you do feel the same way?", Maybell asked softly, looking down into his eyes, smiling slightly for the first time in several minutes. Her eyes had driesd, and her complection had palled slightly as the redness faded away. He really was quite attractive.

Jay grinned when she started to smile again and he absentmindedly thought about how beautiful she looked when she smiled. "Yes," He said, nodding his head slightly. "Yes, I believe I do."

Maybell's smile grew, and she climbed off her bed, kneeling beside Jay and throwing her arms around him. "I'm glad you do, Jay", she said quietly, hugging him, "I'm so glad you do.."

Jay wrapped his arms around her. It was somewhat awkward and embarr*censored*ing for him though, considering he had always ignored women, focusing more on training and his job. And in all honesty, he never really expected he would ever feel this way about someone. He moved one of his arms and put his hand under Maybell's chin, smiling at her. "Trust me, so do I." He said, leaning in and giving her a soft kiss.

Maybell's heart fluttered as Jay kissed her. She leaned in, nearly fainting with joy. This was the most amazing feeling one could ever experince. She would have been perfectly content to remain there for the rest of her life.

Rukiea smiled. Even though she coudl only see what was going on, she was still happy. She took her fingers out of her ears and looked at the door. Her eyes flashed back to gold and she stood up. She put her hand on teh wall and then turned her back to it. She walked down the stairs and up to Mallick. "Well, they made up and kissed. They confessed their love hopefully. I refused to let my power see what they were saying. But they kissed. That's about all I know." She put her head on Mallick's shoulder and held his hand in hers. Jake looked at Rukiea. "I knew that already. I can feel their emotions though the walls and floors. I knew they would kiss anyways. My power works much faster than yours does my little sister." He laughed. |

"That's so sweet!~", Leena cooed, grinning softy, leaning against Jake. Mallick smiled, placing his free hand on Rukiea's back. "Didn't we know they would? Jay would have been in serious trouble with the king if he'd let Maybell stay upset like that.", He said softly. |

Rukiea blushed and looked up at Mallick. She smiled. "True. They king would be very upset if Jay let his beautiful daughter cry. I'd be the one dealing with him too. I'd have to deal with the king and explain everything..." She sighed. "AT least they made up." Jake smiled and wrapped his arm around Leena's waist. He smiled. "Yup. Rukiea and Mallick, you two had aconnection earlier... I could just feel it." |
