(Gahh.)
Shay silently slogged along the sidewalk. The day had been.. Uber-boring, to sum it up. Most days were. Except they most likely had a bit of something that made it memorable. But today? Today had nothing. It was just plain crappy! Hm... Well, what's this? A crowd of people were gathering around a man sitting on a bench reading the newspaper. Must be some headline today.
Just in case it was important, Shay went over and peeked in herself. "'Rainbow Prophecy'?" she murmured to herself. "Pff, yeah right... Hey! Watch it!" she recoiled to a very pushy and very arrogant lady. "You watch it, chub!" she scowled. Hey, rude much? Shay narrowed her eyes at the lady and walked away. Going to the nearest newspaper vendor, she inserted some money and got her copy. How 'bout that, chub? she thought to the lady.
The headline was still about the supposed 'Rainbow Prophecy.' Reading on, it was like a fictitious book. But those books were Shay's favorite! It was interesting, mystical, and whimsical - absolutely wonderful! Hey, that was sort of a rhyme. She'd have to use that some other days, too...
When Shay was younger, she believed so many things - some even more strange than this. Plus, she still sort of did. Sticking the article in her head like a sticky note, she knew it could be possible. It might not truly happen, but it was possible. Like the word 'maybe'. Sighing, now she realized: what to do with the rest of the news?
The answer was pretty simple. Read it.
After a while, though, Shay got bored and found a homeless guy to give it to. Hey, at least it made somebody happy! Now, making the person happy, Shay was happier herself. Also, a new thought popped into her mind: The day wasn't boring anymore! Now she knew about an amazing and possibly true story that was maybe going to happen tonight at midnight!
Hm, about midnight... What was the time now? Mmmm, about 9:30. She had time. Couple hours or so, to be exact. Now... What to do, what to do...
