Taylor sorted through her few possessions that lay on her bureu as she searched for a particular item. She let out a sigh of relief as her slender fingers grasped around a blue pendant that hung from a thin, sterling silver chain. With swift hands, she clipped the necklace around her neck and let out a sigh as the familiarity of the pendant hit the hollow of her neck.

A sharp rap on her door made her turn and she ushered for the person to come in. The rustle of feathers hit her ears as her brother stepped through the door. His tousled hair was windblown and his soft cheeks had a pink tinge. "I'm a.ssuming you went flying," Taylor said with an uncontrolled smile.

Maksis rubbed his fingers through his hair and sighed at the impossible prospect of cleaning the mess. "You do know that we have to leave in about ten minutes," Taylor said to him as Maksis settled his wings against his back.

The stark white feathers slid easily through the slits in his faded green shirt. Maksis' wings, when folded against his back, became almost invisible. They were paper thin, but powerful all the same. They had a wingspan of about thirteen feet and with Maksis' combined upper body strength, could easily carry a person in his arms.

Taylor's eyes snapped out of her train of thought as Maksis waved his hand in her face. "As I was saying," he started with a good-natured smile, "I do know that we have to go in ten minutes. We have to meet the newbies. I'll go get Wrath and I'll meet you at the front entrance of the school in ten, kay?" He asked her. Taylor nodded to him and she slipped her black North Face over her purple V-neck shirt.

Maksis headed to the door as Taylor slid her jacket on. He entered the halls quietly and skirted around the inner corridors. With effortless strides, he reached Wrath's room and gave a soft knock, not wanting to anger the Shadow Element.

As you may have realized, you have been gifted with powers beyond your imagination. I, Elden, Scrollkeeper of the School of Elements, have sent you this letter in regards to your training. You are to become a Master Bender of the Elements and only through this school may you reach that potential. A bus shall arrive to pick you up at exactly 6:15 on January 18^th. Bring only two pairs of clothing and other essential items. The rest shall be provided at the School.

Alora's eyebrows furrowed as she looked at the paper in her hand, again seeing the full name at the top. She hated her name, it was a horrible name and the moment she turned eighteen, she was going to the law to change it to Alora, which was a much prettier name. She sighed and put down the letter. She had been reasding and re-reading it for weeks on end, packing and unpacking, trying to decide whether it was a dream. I mean, think about it, her magical? She was a mute. who in there right mind would play a joke like this. After thinking for a while, she decided it wasn't a joke and repacked her things.

The doorbell rang and, after waving goodbye to her father, the only member of her family still alive, she went to the door to find out who it was. She looked the man up and down an, whether it was his smile or the robes, she decided that he was good enough. She pushed her hair over her shoulder and walked out to greet him...

Holly smiled happily as she read the note. She looked around her small room and spied her suitcase lying lazily on the floor. She battled with the zipper to open the case and won a few minutes later. Getting two pairs of clothes she set them in the bag neatly. Making a short dash to the bathroom she grabbed her toothbrush, toothpaste, a brush, deodorant, and some medicine before returning to her bag placing the items in it.  She ran to her bed and grabbed her small stuffed dog Mr. Snufflies. The small husky accompanied her on all her trips near and far. The herbs that filled him helped her sleep at night keeping nightmares at bay.

When everything she needed was packed away she struggled with the zipper again. Finally able to close the gaping mouth of her suit case, she looked around her room one last time to see if she missed anything. An ob
ject on her desk caught her eye and she smiled. It was a small picture frame containing one of her favorite memories. She was at her Aunts house with her family for a barbeque. She jumped on top of her brother smiling. Her older sister was standing close to the two of them laughing. Holly’s little brother jumped on top of Holly like she did to William. The lighting was just right and the four of them were under an oak tree.

She picked the picture up and blew the dust from the glas.s pane. Gently opening her suitcase she placed the picture lovingly into the depths of the bag making sure it was well protected. She closed the bag and waited for several days marking them off one by one. When the 18^th came she started to jump up and down happy that she would be going to a school to master her abilities. Rereading the note she walked out of her room and locked the door. She walked out of the apartment building running to the bus stop. Once there she sat down and waited patiently for the bus to come.

Blinking lazily Tanair stretched and rolled over on his bed, groaning as a bright flash of sunlight that had crept in through the shutters that blocked his window hit him in the eyes. Flinging one arm caustically over his face the teen wondered if he would have to get up right now. He knew that he'd already been at the school for a while and knew he'd probably be forced to show some of the new students around, or something.

"I hate orientation day," he moaned, and sat up while flinging his legs off the bed at the same moment, somehow rising into a sitting position. Mussing up his already tousled black hair Tanair got up and straightened his old shirt, wrinkling his nose in distaste at the large stain from some sort of food that seemed to have appeared over night on the hem of the shirt. "If only my powers cleaned clothing," he sighed, and stripped the shirt off so he could exchange it for a cleaner black tee that was hanging on his nightstand, plastered with an indecipherable logo. Blinking and rubbing his eyes to rid them of the sleep sand, the boy stood up and shuffled over his dresser and pulled out a new pair of jeans, freshly washed and pressed. Tanair's penchant for cleanliness and order was often viewed as odd by some of the other males his age, which he couldn't understand. "Cleanliness is close to Godliness, or something," he muttered. 

Now presentable and mostly clean the boy headed to his washroom and splashed water on his face, sprinkling some on his hair in a failed attempt to tame his wild locks. "Time to go down, I guess," he said, covering his mouth a moment after to stifle the loud yawn that was threatening to come out. 

[I don't know if Tanair is accepted, but I'm getting kicked off soon so I'd just like to post this. ^^;;;]
