Alex sighed. There was no way they were getting out. She looked at Kasey and said, "The matches start in the evening. I heard it from that scientist's mind." She pointed to a scientist in the corner. She got up, and placed her plate where all of the other plates were stacked up. She sat back down across from Kasey and rubbed her stomach. Everything was so bland here. Everyone was categorized by their clothing color, and they would be forced to fight eachother. Alex looked over to the team that was wearing red. They were two boys, and they looked to be several years older than her. One winked at her, and Alex flipped him off. The boy threw his plate at her, but she dodged it just in time. It hit the wall and shattered. Alex grabbed the knife off of the table, and threw it at the boy. He was slow, and dodged. However, it caught the sleve of his shirt and pinned him to the wall. The erasers growled, but Alex just ignored them. She was standing now, and her fists were clenched. The other red-clothed boy just stared at her.

Alex sat down, and grabbed the arm rests of her chair. "How could they think about flirting with me at a time like this?"

You know I can hear you, a voice was pushed into her head.

Who is this? Alex asked.

The stud you just threw a knife at, the voice said.

I should've threw it lower. You should watch what your eyes do. Alex turned so that she glared at the boy, who had taken the knife and was currently playing with it.

I'm not ashamed of what my eyes do. You should be flattered.

In case you haven't noticed, I'm more interested in getting out of here than flirting.

"Kasey, just don't get involved. Seriously." Alex put it gently. She concentrated on the knife in the guy's hand, and it was lifted into the air. She then pulled it towards herself, and it landed lightly in her hands. She then stuck it into the table.

Fine, suit yourself. By the way, your red hair makes you stick out like a sore thumb. Plus, I like red hair.

Would you just stop while you're ahead? You're about to piss me off again, Alex said, sighing.

The boy stopped sending messages to Alex. She sighed in relief. She pushed some of her red hair out of her eyes and suddenly wished that Kasey would've beaten the hell out of that guy. She leaned over the table towards Kasey and put her head on her arms.

"Don't force it, Kasey. Plus, it looks like you're high when you're having a premonition." Alex laughed.

A few scientists came in. The smartest one stepped forward and said, "Everyone go back to your rooms. If you don't go in there, we will sedate you, and chip in your brain that will force you to do whatever we say!" That last sentence was followed by a few gulps from the kids that were in the rooms. "Well, what are you waiting for? Move!"

Alex got up. No brain programs for her. She grabbed Kasey by the hand, and pulled him out of his chair. When he was up, she didn't let go of his hand.

Alex followed Kasey through the halls, glad that he kept holding her hand. She opened the door to the room, and walked in, pulling Kasey in behind her. The door closed, and she heard a click. The door had locked from the outside.

She still didn't let go of Kasey's hand. She felt like never letting go of his hand. It was much bigger than hers, so it almost engulfed her hand. She wanted to just be normal. If Kasey and her were normal, they could actually be normal friends, and not have to worry about erasers beating the crap out of you.

Alex nodded. She sighed and said, "Yeah. That's why I asked you." Her eyes travelled down to her feet, which had no shoes on. Alex preferred not to wear shoes anyway. She had a whole sappy sentence to say, but she held it back. She layed down, and put her feet in Kasey's lap. She stared at the ceiling, and felt a pang in her chest for some freedom.
