"I think...you should go." Jay said, and he cleared his throat. "I mean, with friends, you know? Go. I really need some time to think, and even though we haven't really set a date or anything like that, we should put off the wedding." He stopped, eyes widening when he realized what what he said sounded like. In an effort to make his words seem less harsh, he said quickly, "I-I mean, we're still engaged, but, we're not getting married too soon. Just give me some time, okay, and I promise, by the time you get back, this'll all be sorted out."

Jay ran a hand through his messy hair, sighing and pulling on a shirt. He felt so out of proportion, just because he hadn't been around his friends in a while and he hadn't been doing anything for the past, like, two weeks. Well, not really. Most of the time, he just stared at nothing, thinking, and every-so-often, Zooey would come by, ask if he was going insane, and make him smile.

But only momentarily. Then, he'd go back to thinking.

Somehow, he ended up walking to Nicole's house. She should've been back from her vacation already, but there was really no way he could be sure unless he broke into their garage to see if a car was there, because there was no car in the driveway.

Jay sighed. The only thing to do was to go up to the door and knock. So, he did.

Jay chuckled, pulling away just enough so he could see Nicole's face. At that very moment, she was the most beautiful thing in the entire universe. He held his breath, thinking, I'll treasure her forever. "Um, right," he gasped, blinking his wide eyes.

"I love you, too, Nicole Mirandez," Jay breathed, setting his chin on top of her head and placing a hand on the back of her neck. "I really, really do." He hugged her tighter.

"Um," Jay pulled away, dusting off his jeans and attempting to fix his hair. "I don't think I should, actually. I still don't have the balls to come in and meet your mother, and we're already engaged."

Jay laughed. "I bet not," he said, smiling at Nicole. "I'm just too...well, I don't know." He sighed, shrugging, but he kept his smile.

"Why don't you come over to my house instead?" Jay asked, perking up like a puppy. "I think we'll have a better time there, 'cause we'd be unsupervised." He chuckled.
