"I'm freaking out? You're freaking out!" Jay pulled over to the side of the road, putting his car in park and turning to Nicole. "Calm. Down. And, Nicole, of course I know you're serious! I'm serious! We're serious! I proposed to you, for chrissakes!"

( Maybe if he had acted like Hideo and said, "Chill your jets," she wouldn't have went berserk. O__o )

Nicole turned back to Jay, but this wouldn't be like in the movies, where they fight for a minuite, but then the boy kisses the girl by suprise and it was over. "And we haven't talked about the wedding since!" She thought she's point that out. She hated fighting with Jay, but at least they always ended simply. This was bad, though.

Jay's face flushed again. "Yes, we have," he retorted. "we most certainly have. And, I'm sure I've said this before, but I'm trying to figure out how I would afford a wedding." He looked away. So many topics on his mind the week Nicole was gone, and that was one of the biggest ones. So many times he'd thought about regretting asking Nicole to marry him, but never really regretting it. How could he, anyway? Nicole was the best girl he'd ever had, and nevermind any guys. They were just flings, just stupid things that happened when he felt insecure.

Even Kurt was, whether he liked it or not.

AND THEN. I felt bad for Jay and was all D8 again.
AAANDD THEN. I realized he was thinking about Kurt instead of theit wedding and was all. >:U

"Jay," Nicole started, "why are we even fighting? I just wanted you to know how I felt and it turned into this somehow." She let out a shakey sigh. Yes, she was mad, but she was also about to cry. Why did such a (what was supposed to be) special moment turn into that?

Jay let out a heavy sigh, shaking his head and staring out onto the road. Not many cars had p*censored*ed them; it was just a quiet day on the road. "Yeah, why are we fighting?" he asked, sounding a bit accusing. "It turned into this somehow, because you yelled and I yelled, and all either of us really did was speak. We hopped onto different topics, and that fueled the fight. The fight, which was just plain stupid.

"In the first place, neither of us should've yelled. Maybe this was just a crazy topic that strikes the nerve of any person, but, y'know. We're both crazy, so." Jay sighed, shrugging a little. "Nevermind. Uhm... Me too."

Nicole wasn't paying him much attention, because her mind was wandering. But, when he said 'Me too', she got curious. "You too what?" She asked slowly. If he said he wanted a kid, too, they would probably would have one. As much as she wanted one.. She knew they weren't ready. They were just teenagers, for crying out loud! But, to have a kid would be so nice. But. They weren't ready. Why couldn't she think anything else?

Like how he probably didn't even want a kid.

Jay let out a shakey sigh. Did he really have to spell it out for her? Now, it was a touchy topic, so he didn't want to dwindle on it for too long, let alone actually speak of it. "I want a kid, too." he mumbled, averting his eyes. "You know. Someday. Not now. We're definitely too young."

Nicole didn't catch the first part, but by the end of the second part, she got what he was saying. She seemed to remember him proposing at 17. But, they were too young? She didn't say anything. Maybe he would just start driving again.

"Orrrr be quiet," Jay said, rolling his eyes. He couldn't help being annoyed. Fights brought out the worst in him, like with any other person, and they'd just had a fight. "that's fine, too." Gripping the wheel tightly, Jay set his jaw, and started onto the road. He wanted to jerk the car around in a turn and drive Nicole back home, but that wouldn't be tolerated between them. Not like it was in any of his past relationships.

Such things happened quite often before, but Nicole was a much more sensitive girl. Sensitive person, in Jay's case. He could snap at any of his old girlfriends or boyfriends, and most of them wouldn't even cringe, instead narrowing their eyes or snapping right back. With Nicole, he had to be much more careful, in case he struck a nerve or accidently hurt her.

Times were different now. Although he knew that he'd chosen things to be this way, and he loved Nicole and being with her, there were those times where he wished it was him and his friends, no tension of any sort between them to strike and ignite, just friends. Friends who got into trouble, and ended up sitting by each other in chairs set against walls in a mall and giggling about how one of them had triped and "Ate total *censored*!" while running away from a mall cop. He'd lost all his friends now, hadn't he? Gage spoke with his eyes, and his eyes said, "I'm going to be the dog and stay by your side. Hayden and Oliver are sick of you; they're out." At least, that's how Jay interpreted it. What Gage was really thinking was no doubt way less harsher, but everyone had their own way of interpretation.

Jay coughed, body lurching forward suddenly, but the car only moved to the side slightly; he'd felt such a tremor coming up before it happened, and taken care to make sure he wouldn't accidently slam the car into a tree or whatever happened to be near the road at that time. He blinked his stinging eyes, and cleared his throat noisily, and then sat straight. "I'm sorry, Nicole." he apologized softly, looking at the road but not really seeing it through his wet eyelashes. It's all my fault. he added in his head.

Nicole sighed and shook her head. "Why are you apologizing? It was my fault. I brought it up, and it was a stupid thing in the first place. So, I'm sorry." Wow. That's one thing her and Jay never did; apoligize to eachother. They always just moved on without talking about it.

This date wasn't going to be fun anymore. It was going to be quiet and awkward, and when he took her home, they would both go to their own houses and sleep in their own, seperate beds; for the first time in a while. She didn't know about him, but she would probably cry herself to sleep, because she loved him and they just got into a fight because she wanted him to know how much she loved him, and when he got suprised, which was supposed to be expected, and she freaked out.

( I blame the music I'm listening to. )

It wasn't a stupid thing. How could she even say that? It was probably just the reaction they'd had to...well, each other. In a relationship, each person was a flint rock, and if they were to be hit against each other, they'd create a spark, which in turn would ignite a fire. A fire, which was, of course, damaging. The kind of anger that Jay was experiencing was supposed to be enough to make him shake, but he'd found that over time, you could learn to control yourself.

So, he wasn't shaking. On the outside, he was completely apathetic. The kind of apathetic that could p*censored* for calm, or at peace. But, he was far from being at peace. It seemed to him as thought life liked to beat him down, kick him where he was on the ground, and then let him stand back up, only to repeat what had been done before. Either that, or he was just being a crybaby who needed to grow the hell up.

"Because," Jay answered simply. But, that didn't seem to be enough to suffice. "...Because it was my fault, too." he added, taking a turn. The beach was visible now, as were the craggy rocks and caves. That ended suddenly in one place, and then began the long stretch of beach that would be perfect for a fun day in the sun. But, instead, it appeared in Jay's eyes as a place that had, could, and would shatter his life.

"Jay," Nicole had tears in her eyes now, the warm salty tears threatening to roll down her cheeks if she said something wrong. "it was just a p*censored*ing thought." That was a lie. "Last night, I wasn't even thinking straight. We're just kids," She said. It would've been a cry if she wasn't choking back her tears. "I can't get pregnant. Even though I want to so bad." Nicole continued.

"Like you said. We're just to young for a family."

Jay almost rolled his eyes. "I see," he said simply. He tapped his foot lightly against the gas pedal, tapping it lightly enough so that he wouldn't affect the speed the car was going at. "Hey," he said suddenly, his voice sounding bright for a second. "I think we should just go home instead. It's gonna be dark soon, so... You know."

Nicole shrugged, "Alright," she really didn't want to go, though. "I don't have any clothes with, though." She said, almost letting out a chuckle.

Jay swallowed. Well, in the first place, he hadn't meant "home" as in they'd both go to his home. "I'll just take you home, then." he said, keeping his voice leveled. It wasn't all that hard, actually, but his throat was tight.

Jay didn't say anything. He was going to take her home, because he didn't want to be around anyone. Not at the moment. It would give him time to think again, which he needed...now. Not too long ago, he would've hated it. Now, he wanted it.
