The combat form smashed his shield again and again. Sergeant Harrenly fired his plasma repeater practically point-blank into the combat form's head. The needles then exploded and the combat form died. Two more combat forms charged at them with several infection forms floating behind.

Soz' shield went out and he ran backwards to avoid the flood, shooting at one of the infection forms. Nonononononononono!

The infection forms swarmed towards Soz. Sergeant Harrenly rolled underneath the first combat form's attack and struck it in the back with his gun. He fired at the second combat form, but the first elbowed him in the stomach. It spun around and smashed the Sergeant's shoulder-pad.

The infection forms all popped. The combat form swung at Sergeant Harrenly, but was suddenly blown apart by fire. Two warthogs drove up with a Ghost behind, their turrets shredding any nearby Flood or Sentinels. "About time you lot arrived, I think I was about the only human here except a couple of snipers on the hill!" Sergeant Harrenly called to them as they approached. The second combat form went to strike the Sergeant from behind.

The needles finished the combat form, saving Sergeant Harrenly's life. He turned around, gun raised, as the combat form slumped to the ground. "I guess we are even."

A sentinel flew over to the two of them. It took a second to scan them before determining they were possible future vessels for the Flood and should be destroyed. It fired it's Sentinel beam at Soz. Sergeant Harrenly fired at the Sentinel.

One of the Warthogs drove up and shredded the sentinel with it's turret. The gunner and passenger got out. "Hey Serg, figured you could use a hand." One of them said. He wore glasses and looked fairly young. He also had an extra large backpack and a tech-pad on his belt. "Actually, I was doing fine before you arrived Jenkins, although I seem to have lost my Elite," Sergeant Harrenly applied. "Yes, after all, you easily took down that robot-oh wait, that was me." The other marine replied in a strong Mexican accent. "Well I'm your commanding officer Patrise, so I am still going to take credit for it." There was an explosion nearby as one of the hornets being pulled towards the Palace was destroyed by Sentinels. bits of flaming debris crashed down and the Sentinels moved on to attack some Carrier forms.

The female driver called out. "We don't really have enough seats for you Serg, but I'm sure you could just hang on tight." Patrise laughed. A Sentinel flew overhead, ignoring the Marines and Jackal in pursuit of a more important target.

There was an explosion above them as the Sentinels destroyed a banshee being pulled in, causing banshee parts to rain down on the group. Sergeant Harrenly and Patrise dived to the ground, while Jenkins steppe calmly into the passenger seat as the Warthog took off.

The other Jackals ran for cover, shields up. The debris missed most of them, although the burning shell of the banshee's body landed where the Warthog had been. One of the Jackals was crushed by a wing.
