They Warthog ran over a somehow un-exploded corpse of a Carrier form, causing it to detonate. The Warthog flipped, causing all four marines to fall out. Resnov's ankle got pinned under one of the wheels and Patrise hit his head on the turret, causing his forehead to bleed heavily. A swarm of infection forms flew in all directions, targeting the covenant. The Elites were behind cover and firing in moments, shredding several infection forms with their plasma repeaters.

The infection forms were all rapidly taken out. Dozens of Combat forms surged out from nowhere, followed by several Carriers. Two Sentinels were fighting them, and a third was spinning through the air, an infected Elite on it's side.

The combat form's shoulder and arm were blasted apart by Soz's fire. Two overcharges hit it in the chest, finishing it off. Two more combat forms were gunned down and one of the Elites stuck a third. One of the Carriers exploded, detonated by plasma pistol fire.Sergeant Harrenly fire his needle rifle into one of the combat forms rushing towards him. It died just before reaching him. Jenkins tried to lift the Warthog so Resnov could get out. Two combat forms charged at him, hitting him in the leg and back. Jenkins cried out and crumpled to the ground. Resnov fired her pistol at one of them, killing it with several lucky shots. Patrise wiped the blood from his eyes and fired his assault rifle, but due to his injury he didn't do much.

The combat form was taken by surprise, falling to the ground with a huge hole in it's back. One of the Elite minors roared in appreciation, while the other rolled to avoid some plasma fire and threw a grenade. The Jackals had now spread out behind the sparse rocks and vehicles wrecks to get as much protection as possible. They fire overcharges into the combat forms while the Jackal snipers took out any infection forms.

The combat form gurgled and died. Two more rushed at Rhi, tackling her to the ground. Jenkins pulled Resnov out from under the Warthog and Sergeant Harrenly provided covering fire, killing a combat form and decapitating another. Patrise stumbled to his feet, but was hit by a volley of plasma pistol shots and was knocked to the ground. One of the Elite minor's shields was knocked out by a Carrier explosion. The Elite was then overwhelmed by the Infection forms, but was killed by one of the Jackals before it became fully infected.

An infection form half-scuttled-half-floated over to the Moa and attacked it. The kicked combat form flew off, but quickly got back up and went in for a second attack. (the second one sort of got stabbed XD) Sergeant Harrenly ducked under some plasma fire and emptied his clip into a combat form. The Elite minor roared and ripped an infected Skirmisher in two. It then fired it's plasma repeater into a nearby Carrier form, detonating it. (Ragequit XD)

The infection form hit the moa with it's tentacles. The combat fornm leaped over her head and landed behind her. The marines all pulled back, Patrise stumbling around and Resnov limping.

The combat form died. There was a series of explosions nearby and a burning Sentinel whizzed overhead. "I think the Flood are making a second assault, we were too late to get back to base before the real fighting begins!" Sergeant Harrenly cried out, shooting a combat form in the chest with his needle rifle. "What do you mean real fighting?!" Resnov replied, firing off pistol shots. An enforcer Sentinel exploded nearby, being ripped apart by a tide of dozens of Carriers. Several Aggressor Sentinels mopped up all the infection forms with their beams. "I meant exactly what I said!." Sergeant Harrenly saved a jackal by shooting several infection forms, giving it precious seconds to flee the swarm. The infection form gurgled and slapped the moa.
