Up high in the tree, Zale could see his his old home. His old life. He growled. It wasn't his anymore. He had changed.

He held up a clawed paw in front of his face and thought back to last night, the night he had woken up with cat ears and a tail. They were gone by that morning, but it still freaked him out enough to run, away into the woods, away from the ridicule that would only get worse.

Zale narrowed his eyes. The light was on in the room he used to sleep in. They were just now figuring out he had run off?

Kasu shrieked as a jaguar dropped down on her out of nowhere. The hawk alighted from her perch and flew up into the blue sky, crying furiously. The jaguar shifted into her human form and fell to the forest floor, cackling. "That wasn't funny, Shaaka!" Kasu yelled as she shifted to her human form, landing lightly on the ground. With a wild cry, the girl tackled her twin and the two began to fight.

The twins looked exactly the same, save for their eyes. They had the same ice-white hair. The same fair skin. The same taste in lovers - not that they'd ever had any, of course. The same taste in clothing. The same taste in music. The only thing different about them were their eyes. Kasu had dark blue eyes, almost black, like the darkest depths of the sea. Shaaka's eyes were a light silver, almost indistinguishable from the whites of her eyes, like the lightest parts of the moon.

Darrin skated through the streets with a smile on her face. She had a white bandana on her head to cover up her ears. She loved to skate through the streets. She couldn't do it in the forest so just the year before she had bought some stuff to wear over her head to cover up her ears. She didn't want anyone to know what she really was. If they did they would drive her out. She knew it. her true identity rang through her ears

Were-cat.

Zale growled, then sprang from the tree. They'd be looking for him soon. But then again, they'd be looking for a human. Not a cat.

He smiled, and sprinted back farther from the building.

He halted when he heard scuffling. He poked his nose around a tree and saw two girls rolling in the dirt.

"Twins, by the look of them", he mused quietly.

Kasu's hawk-keen ears heard the movement first, and Shaaka's jaguar-sharp nose smelled it. Shaaka rolled off of her sister and snarled low in her throat. "What are you doing here?" Kasu asked hardly, sensing her sister's distress.

Zale tensed, then sighed. He came out in front of them and bowed his head, then shifted into human.

"I apologize. I heard fighting and thought someone was in trouble."

((No, what's it about?))

"Well, we weren't, so go away!" Shaaka snapped. "Forgive my sister," Kasu said, stepping forward and placing her hand on Shaaka's shoulder. "She's a bit high-strung at times."

"What the h-- I am not!" Shaaka hissed, her nostrils flaring.

"Yes you are."

Shaaka hissed again, shifted into her jaguar form, and bounded off into the trees. Kasu watched her calmly and turned back to the strange man. "I apologize for my sister's behavior," she said again.

His eyes flicked towards the spot where the twin had been moments before.
