Lysander was leaning on a lamp post, idly glancing over the newspaper someone had thrown carelessly on the pavement. He had heard the news about the murders too, and although his eyes were on the text, his mind was far far away; he was wondering what this killer wanted, how he managed to avoid getting caught, and most of all, who he or she was. Possibilities raced trough his mind, the new one making no more sense than the last. Shaking his head, he walked over to his fellow fighters to discuss the matter with them.

"Well, is this our new meeting spot?" Lanen asked, laughing lightly as another Fighter made his way over. "I have to say though; it's a bit...non-secretive. They'll never suspect a thing." She put her hands on her hips and bent backwards a ways, attempting to loosen the knots in her back. Her neck popped and she winced before righting herself.

Lysander waved his hand in a gesture of generic hello in the direction of the two Fighters. He raised his eyebrows slightly at Lanen, giving a soft chuckle as he commented, "Careful there, Lenny," He looked around himself casually and asked in a rather offhand way, "I presume you two have heard of those incidents... What do we do about them?" He tossed his forelock to a side with a flick of his hand and pulled his cloak tighter around himself for no apparent reason. The winds were not cold, and Lysander was not the kind of person to feel chilly in such weather.

Flicking his trenchcoat collar up, Halien nodded at Lysander and sighed, running his hand through his hair once again. "this isn't natural. They obviously weren't loved in their child hood. OR adult hood. So obviously....." Halien jerked his arm up, a blade swishing out of his sleeve. Catching it, he began to pick at his nails, who were, coincidentally, dirty. "We wait for them to trip. they're human. They maybe sadistic humans, but they are human." Flicking his switch blade shut, he stowed it away in his pocket. "I'm going to wait for them fumble. And then... I murder them."

"Humans make mistakes. Chances are you wont have to wait long, Halien." Lanen nodded and kicked a small stone, watching it skid away. "It would be so much easier to predict the killers next move if they all had something in common with each other. Not willy-nilly murdering."

-

A blade flashed in the moonlight as it made a mark in the bedpost. The killer looked around, surveying his handiwork with a satisfied eye. He was turning murders into an art form. The victim was a woman, 30 years old, two kids, divorced. Her dead eyes looked at him from a swollen face. Almost a waste, really, he thought as his gaze fell on her blue lips. Suffocation is much too slow; someone might have come in.

He shrugged carelessly and slipped out the window and down the fire escape.

Lysander fiddled with the newspaper. "It seems to me like it is pointless, cold-blooded murder. The guy has got nothing better to do." He scrutinized the p*censored*ers-by silently, wondering if the killer was right there with them, listening to their talk. But everyone looked perfectly harmless, walking past them, individually or with their friends. Maybe the killer was committing another murder right then. What were the odds that he or she wasn't?

Shrugging, Halien grimaced. "It would be easier to figure out WHO was the next victim." he corrected Lysander, sighing. "Then we could stake-out or something. At least, this isn't a horror film or anything. That's a bonus. We don't have to deal with super-natural killers or anything like that." Cracking his thumb, he looked around, thief's eyes evaluating every person with a coldness that canceled out all warmth.

Lanen nodded her head in agreement. "The plants arnt trying to kill us and there aint no virus that turns people into zombies. The small things in life." The breeze blew and she hugged her windbreaker closer to her. "That was weird. Suddenly got cold."

Laughing, Halien punched Lanen gently on the arm. "Ooooh, looks like the ghosts are haunting youu" He snorted, and pointed towards the tree's. Look. It's fall. Obviously it's gonna get pretty breezy out. Unless my calendar lied and it's actually July." Shaking his head in suppressed mirth, he leaned against a telephone pole and crashed to the ground with a resounding THUD. "Dangit. third time this week I've missed leaning onto this pole. Jeez, gotta lower my blood-sugar then huh?" Halien muttered on the ground, suddenly stretching out on his back so he could see the sky better. Or, for a more accurate deion, the condominiums that were BLOCKING the sky.

If looks could kill, Halien would have been dead. One thing Lanen didnt like at all was people touching her. It helped when she was fighting. With some difficulty she shook it off. "I know it's fall. But normally I can stand the cold. Shuddup, clumsy." She looked down the street. People were starting to thin out, going home. Yes, lets all go hide away in houses that we think are safe. Shells forbid anythin should happen to us in our home.

Halien knew that Lanen absolutely hated ONE thing. People touching her. So he did. Because Halien, was a masochist, a sadist, and an ex-murder/thief all combined together. He knew what made people tick, and what people hated. It was all part of his job resume. Snorting, he muttered, "Soon, the government and the police will be pas.sing out leaflets on 'elementary home safety', and the public will freak out. That's what the murderer wants them to do..." He said slowly looking at the leaves. "He tracks them easily if they're in there homes..... In this fear, people are more prone to stay at home. But...." Halien paused to blow a leaf away, and continued to speak, "It'll be easier. It's easier when you're secluded, alone, in the apparent 'safety' of your house. So much easier to kill, less easier to kill if you're walking around the city.... Especially if you're a socialite. The killer is killing less known, more secluded people... thus making it easier to kill. Harder to avoid a bomb when you're hiding in your home, with locked doors. Harder for the neighbors to help, easier for the person doing this crime to get away..." Halien stated, as if he was the murderer himself.

Lysander cocked an eye at Halien. "Thanks for the info, Hale." he said with a short smirk. He had by then turned the newspaper into a ball and was aiming at a nearby trashcan. Lysander was getting restless standing there doing nothing when they were expected to do something. "C'mon guys," he said at last, as the large paper ball hit the can smack on the lid, and bounced to the floor. Lysander didn't care to put it in. He pulled Halien up in a not-so-rash way as he growled, "Let's go hunt for him or something. Anything but stand here watching people do their stuff. It's time we do ours."

Slowly, Halien smirked, his eyes gleaming in a not-so-kind way. In fact, he looked positively evil. Deranged. However you want to describe him, he looked like a demon. "Yes... Let's start our job now. But gimme a sec. I gotta see if I brought all my equipment." He smirked, and starting pulling things willy-nilly from his pockets. Out came guns, knives, explosives, some preion drugs, a bottle of whiskey, Thorazine, some needles, picks, cooking knives, a watch that was broken, monkey wrenches, screws, nails, bobby pins, grenades, anything illegal and explosive, Halien had it. Several minutes later, he found it. "Ahah! I did bring it!" He muttered softly, holding up the small , crystalline vial up slowly. And then in a flash, all the junk he brought out, no matter how dangerous or useless, disappeared into his pockets. "Come on guys. A murderer is waiting for us"

Lysander blinked slowly. "How do you fit all those in your pocket anyway?" He was a little surprised, and his voice conveyed that. But knowing Halien and his ways, he shrugged as if it didn't amaze him in the least. He felt his holster for the revolver, figuring it would involve firearms, if they encountered the serial killer. He still, as always, had the sword, which would prove pretty useless if the murderer was seriously armed, as Lysander expected him to be.

With a crooked half smile, Halien tapped his jacket and his pants. "Pockets. Lot's of them." Thinking for a second, Halien pulled off his jacket and began rummaging through it. "Hmm... I had something to give to you, know that you reminded me, but I keep forgetting....." Tsking, Halien finally withdrew a long package, wrapped in old-fashioned brown paper from a seemingly non-existant pocket. "Oh right. I meant to give this to you while you were on duty and whatnot, but I keep forgetting." Tilting his head, Halien handed it over. "It's a jacket." He explained, trying not to shoot someone from excitement. "It's bulletproof, and it's lighter than most of the military issued models. Feels like a normal winter sweater." Nodding, he pas.sed it over to Lysander, and smirked. "I think it might be useful for this mission."

((LOL. I emptied my pockets out once and came up with everythin from a box knife to a pair of socks))

Lanen walked over and picked up the newspaper, standing up with a grunt as she tossed it into the trashcan, muttering something about men and appreciation of what they've been given. She walked back over and glared this time at Lysander. "We're goin huntin now for a murderer-who kills people- an you wont pick up your trash-thats litter and and a pollutant-because..?"

OoC: Lawl

Lysander grinned. His grin grew wider until he laughed. He just couldn't help it. "Well, it's degradable." he said, not wanting to appear like he had ignored Lanen's question. "You're so cute when you're mad, Len. Do it again," he taunted, mischief lingering in his eyes for a few minutes until he regained the serious outlook. "Alright, and now?"

(( Lolz Todeo. That's epic.))

Halien smirked too at Lysander and Lanen. "You two are too funny.  Degradable indeed." He chuckled then he shrugged. "Dunno, I guess we start off by doing some research? Instead of asking HOW he's killing, ask WHO he's killing. Or her." He nodded politely towards Lanen then continued, "We track the culprit for a few days. Look at the scene of crime. Look for... any mistakes he made. We won't bother tracking his ID or fingerprints or anything like that. Like the police do. I say.... We check out the technique of killing. For example, does the era of killing techniques hail from the Middle Ages, with the nooses, stoning, and gutting with knives? Or in this Era, with guns and explosives? Then we'll figure out something to do. LAst minute plan" Halien chuckled absent-mindedly, not really knowing what he was saying. Pulling on his trench coat, he briskly walked away, as if nothing had happened.
