"Maksis." Mrs Meriwether said.  "Come stand right there." And she motioned for him to stand across from Crystal.  As soon as Crystal heard his name get called she knew that she'd have to use a lot of effort just to even touch him.  It would hurt her a lot to know she beat him, and beating someone meant making them faint.  She couldn't stand the thought of him unconscious because of her.

"Be brave." She whispered to herself.  She didn't want to end up losing for one stupid reason.  It was just a crush, she would just have to ignore that fact and try to battle her best.  And she was getting a little suspicious.  Did he actually intend to win, or was that just to help Taylor?  She thought he wouldn't battle, and he didn't seem like the kind of person to be all crazy about winning.

Maksis stood up from the bleachers and when the rows of kids blocked his path out, he shrugged and spread the wings he had kept pinned against his back. He leaped into the air and glided down, over the air as upturned heads glanced at him. He landed on the ground with the grace of a panther and strode to the field. He stepped into the spot Mrs. Meriwether had instructed and pinned his wings against his back again.

I think this is an appropriate time to post an intro, right? xD)) 

Mrs. Meriwether waited until Maksis was on the field, and she began to count.  "One, two," She began slowly.  "Three, four, five..... BEGIN!" She shouted, and Crystal immediately flew up into the air, staying there.  She couldn't let Maksis win, she just couldn't.  Letting him win would just ruin everything for her.  If only she didn't have a crush on him.

She hesitated, then said a bunch of odd words that were part of a spell.  A huge stone wall popped out of the ground, and it was right in the middle of the battle field.  That was just so he couldn't run at her, he'd have to fly.  And so she can hide behind it when needed.  Now time to say another spell.

She shouted more words, and millions of flying rats appeared above them, swarming like insects.  Uh-oh, she had done the wrong spell.  Those flying rats carried a disease that made you faint the second you are bitten, and it could not be healed by any sort of magic or medicine.  It would have to heal naturally.  And the effects of the sickness start directly after you wake up from fainting.

"Damn it!" Crystal muttered darkly.  Now she'd have to dodge a bunch of rats while fighting Maksis.  And Maksis would have to dodge them too, they were all over this place.  Wait.... how about the bleachers?  She looked around, and realized that they were swarming around the bleachers too.  Just great.  Then one landed on her arm.

She let out a high pitched scream, and smacked it away.  As soon as she calmed herself down, she tried to think of another spell to give her an advantage and fix this mess.

BUNNEH THINGEH IS ALREADY DEAD! -pokes slit throat with a stick- IT WAS ALREADY DEAD WHEN I HELD IT UP! >:C)) 

Maksis watched carefully as Crystal made a giant, looming rock wall emerge from the ground. He groaned as she muttered another insuccesful spell and flying rats appeared above her. He watched her reaction to them and found that she was deathly afraid of them. He knew better than to mess with them now. He unfurled his wings and closed his eyes, allowing his panther form to take shape. The rats that had been aiming toward him scuttled away at the sight of their most feared enemy; a cat. He purred with amusemet and flapped his wings. They had altered and became slightly larger to accomodate to his new body.

He headed toward Crystal and flexed his claws in anticipation of her next move. He did not want to give her time to mutter another spell. He realized his panther body was not suitable for the air and quickly drew it back, only keeping his ears, tail, and kept his paws with outstretched claws. The smell still drove the rats away and his keen hearing from the ears would be able to hear any spells Crystal would say.

He rose higher into the air and angled his wings down, pulling himself into a tight dive. He wasn't aiming directly for Crystal. He just wanted to distract her and keep her moving. Let her tire herself out. Maybe her using spells isn't so bad. Using magic will definitely drain her energy. He thought as he prepared to rake his claws past her as he flew by.

Crystal flew higher, smacking all the rats that flew by.  Just take your mind off Maksis and stay far from him until you are ready.  She spent a few seconds smacking the rats away, and got tired of doing it.  Although she was getting weak, she shouted another spell.  A veil of magic surrounded her whole body, protecting her from all the rats.  It blocked out everything, but she couldn't attack or go somewhere while in it.  And she couldn't use it as a shield if someone were to charge at her, because by the time she finishes saying the words and the veil forms, she'd already be hit.

Crystal curled up in the veil which was high up in the air far out of reach, and closed her eyes.  She would have to think of a plan.  And heal herself since she has time.  She opened her eyes, and created the healing sparkled again.  It didn't take up her energy and there was no limit to how much she could make, but it took a while to make them.  When she had made a few, she sprinkled them on her, which recovered some of her health.  She created more, and then sprinkled those on her.

"I need to win this...." She muttered, as she sprinkled another batch of sparkles.  Now she was fully healed.  She might as well just fall asleep in the veil, but then that might cause the battle to take too long.  She stayed in the veil, still thinking of what to do next.  She just needed that dragon. 

((If Taylor gets help from Maksis than Crystal can use her healing sparkles. >:D))

The veil broke, and Crystal began to fall.  But she flapped her wings, and managed to stay in the air.  Come on, just fight him already!  She flew at her highest speed at him, preparing to punch him.  She couldn't help feeling the nervous feeling that was bothering her, but managed to put it aside for a while.  For now she had to concentrate on beating Maksis.

[[ I don't know. I mean, if you want her to lose, that's okay XD Taylor and Crystal could always take it out in that dark alleyway over there *points* Wait, I see a better place. That golden field over there with all the hummingbirds and butterflies. Yeah, that'll be good. ]]

Maksis angled his dive away and broke open his wings. They caught the air and held him aloft. He gave a few strokes to the air, staying balanced for a few moments. Crysal began to fall as the veil broke, but she flapped her wings and flew at him. He clasped his wings against his back and Crystal was about to fly into the space where he had been before. He sheathed his claws and surged upward, aiming a punch at where her stomach would be.

Crystal quickly flew up, and her leg got hit instead.  But it was only scratched; she had flew up quickly.  She swung another punch at him.

((-fail- It's hard for me to think of a decent post when my sister is yelling and i'm debating whether or not to make Crystal win or lose. :P)) 

"Is that all you've got?" She said darkly, smirking.  She aimed another punch at him, this time at his stomach.  She wanted that dragon more than ever now, she just couldn't let anyone else get it.  She just couldn't.
