Joan turned slowly, a little surprised to be spoken to. One out of millions in the market today. Who was this person? Joan had certainly never seen her before. The girl raised one arched eyebrow, the corner of her lips twitching slightly. "Im al'ight, I guess. I don' need help....do y'?"

Rain smiled. It was nice to be treated normally like everyone else once in a while. "No; how is it like in the village, uh, as a pea- i mean- uhm..." she kept stammering. Please, she pleaded, don't find out.

"As a peasant?" Joan finished, tilting her head slightly. Really, what was so hard about saying that word? She shrugged, trying to ease the female. "'s fine, I guess. I don' come 'ere of'en; 'bout three, four times'a month.

"Whew" Rain smiled. "Hmm. Does it mean you don't come to the market often? How about food?" she inquired.

Joan grimaced. "Tha's kinda what I just said; I don' come 'ere of'en. I get food 'ere." She lowered one eyebrow, keeping the other one arched and hefted the basket of bread and cheese.

"Well, bye," Rain walked back to the castle. Seems boring now that all the fun was absorbed. She went back to poking her stuff. ((o_o))

Kale sat puzzled for a moment, looking at the bodies strewn across the floor. She must have been on edge, it wasn't like her to be so messy. Standing he walked across the floor, scanning the surroundings. She had just given him a look and breezed p*censored*ed, not what you usually would do after seeing an old friend. He accepted it though, many things had changed since their young days in the fields. Hearing a hiss he spun around to see the house catch flame. Dravia stood next to it, she hadn't left the scene quite yet. Walking over he held up his hands, showing he came unarmed.

Joan simply stood and watched the other female leave. "Odd," she muttered to herself. She shrugged and turned around, then stopped at the sight of smoke rising into the air. Shrugging yet again, she thought that it was perfectly normal; farmers burned their feilds around this time of year.

Daravia looked up to see the familiar face approach her with his arms raised. "Kale, you don't need to do that," she stated. "I was just a little on edge earlier." She chuckled in an uncomfortable fashion, then put her fingers to her mouth and whistled. Suddenly, a magnificent creature took flight from a nearby tree. This beautiful and strong bird was known as Darbîn, and happened to be Daravia's pet great horned owl. As he glided down to her shoulder, his eyes stayed on the stranger's.
Sensing the bird’s tense nature, Daravia began to stroke his mutlicolored feathers. “Do you not recognize our old friend, Darbîn? It’s just Kale.” Darbîn lost his gaze and gave Daravia a satisfied look.
“As for you, Kale,” she began, “You look a lot stronger than last time we met. How long exactly have you been working for your King?”

“About as long as you have your royal family. You know it’s against protocol to reveal information to others. Which brings me to my first question, why are you here and why are there dead villagers in that fire?” he said, giving her a quizzical look, reaching out his hand to delicately stroke the magnificent bird. “It’s been so long...” His sentence trailed off, his eyes lost in memories. The last time he had seen Dravia she had been just a young girl and he a young farm boy wishing to be a knight. So much had changed....

Joan got bored and suddenly started running around the market place, waving her basket around like a child. She was oblivious to the fact she was the recipient of many a hostile on unbelieving stare, as well as all signs to ward off evil. Such was the extent of her mad, boredom driven, uhm...verbs. ((You can ignore this post if you want...))
