"I bet you disappointed her," Calamity said into the receiver of the phone. He looked at Severin, who was glaring again. However, Calamity was left unfazed, staring right back at Severin. His eyes were teary, so Calamity didn't bother to snap at him.

Severin sighed a shakey sigh, sitting down and pinching the bridge of his nose. Damn, he felt pissed off, depressed, and lonely all at the same time. Calamity was right across from him, but he wasn't behind the glass...acryllic, whatever.

He's moody. Pissy and sad at the same time, you know?
As for me... A while. I'll be home by late tomorrow morning, I'd bet, maybe later tonight.

( Yer silly. )

Claire didn't think for very long before replying to the text. It's kinda hard to believe you could miss someone like him as much as I do, you know? I don't know, I don't want to bug you with it, but. I'll tell you when you get home. You'll visit me, right? Claire hoped he would, she needed him badly.

Glancing out the window, Claire sighed. It was cloudy outside, and the tree outside her window's color was starting to fade, seeing as it was October. On one of the branches, she could swear she saw a lone bird. Wether she did or not, she would pretend she did. Good, she thought, looking away and assuming she had seen the bird, atleast I'm not the only one who's alone.

( Das horrible, Claire! D8 )

Of course, I'll visit you. Can't leave my best friend all alone now, can I?
And, don't worry, you won't be bugging me.

Calamity glanced back at the door he'd been shooed out of. Visiting hours are over, they'd said. Couldn't they let him stay a little longer? After all, he had returned Severin. But, no, there were no exceptions. Too bad. They had phones in the place, so maybe he could call Severin later.

Then again, the phones where for those who were always on their best behavior. No doubt, that would be hard for Severin, who had the tendency to rebel all over the place. With a sigh, Calamity flipped open his phone again, sending another text to let Claire know about that. There was more reception outside, so the message didn't have trouble sending.

They pretty much just kicked me out. I guess you can call Severin later, but they probably won't let him on the phone, what with the fact that he just escaped and all... He's some kind of Houdini, getting outta this place.

( Well, I feel pretty bad for this. :I )

Unaware of how to reply to the last text, Claire pushed her phone back into her pocket and pulled herself to her feet. On her way to the bathroom, she checked to make sure her house's front door was locked.

It was still morning, and light was coming through the bathroom window. Claire entered the bathroom, closing the locking the door behind her, with a strange, almost evil looking, grin on her lips. She stepped into her bathrub, and slowly lowered herself down, holding onto the sides of the shower for balance as she crept to the bottom.

Biting her bottom lip, Claire laid in the bathtub in complete silence for a few moments before she pulled her phone out of her pocket. The last thing she replied before shutting her phone off was, Don't worry. Take your time.

All right. See ya later.

Calamity sat back in his seat. The boat he was heading back in was slow, but he was sure it would make good timing. He didn't know anything about boats, though, so he was taking wild guesses when he was trying to figure out when he'd be back home. But, seeing as how PSYCHO was already out of sight, maybe he'd be home be late afternoon, or just as it was getting dark. He had no idea. It was much easier guessing when he was in a car or on a motorcycle.

Motorcycle. He owned one, actually. Though, he didn't know a lot about motorcycles. Cars, sure, but when someone mentioned those rocket-bikes...he drew a blank. Severin knew more about them than he did. The reason his bike wasn't dead from the falls that Calamity had taken being stupid with his friends was that Severin always fixed it up. He always said it was simpler than it looked. Calamity would always pay him for fixing his bike, and Severin would look at him with narrowed eyes before giving him a short, "Thanks."

Maybe if he hadn't given him money, he wouldn't be so hooked on drugs. Without money, Severin couldn't anything. But, then again, if he didn't have money at all, he might've resorted to stealing it.

I don't know if I'll ever get things right with him. Calamity thought with a sigh. He looked out at the water, frowning a little. Maybe I'll take Claire for a ride on my bike tomorrow. I sure hope I don't wreck it any time soon...

( ..... ;A;
i think
we agreed, timeskip? )

Claire didn't want to wake up. Simply for the fact that she knew when she did, she would be alone. And she was right. When she woke up, there was no one there. No one outside, because the whole world just seemed rather lonley. Or maybe that was just her self pity.

As much as Claire longed to call Calamity and tell him he promised he would visit, even though he didn't, and demand he came, she descided she'd rather be alone with her thoughts.

She wondered if it would've been better if he hadn't visited. Or if he visited for a reason, a good reason, and she didn't know. Either way, Claire wish he had stayed.

Because her bed was simply very empty wihtout him.

Eventually, he was able to stand on solid ground. Eventually. Who knows when the hell he really got home, all he knew that at some point, he was standing in the grass, and then he was walking to his car. He sat in it, he drove it to his small but comfortable home, and then he was dead asleep in his bed. No need to pull on any pj's, oh, no. Calamity was much too tired to even think about them. How he managed to find his way home, he didn't know. But, he might as well have been intoxicated, seeing as he barely remembered what had happened the night before.

Waking up in day-old clothes wasn't his most favorite way to greet the morning. No, no, no. Usually it annoyed him. Once he had his coffee (black, obviously), though, he was fine with it. A quick shower and a change of clothes and things would be A-OK. Now he had to go see Claire and see how she was holding up. If anyone was as upset as he was about his brother being locked in that prison again as he was, it was her. What a sweet girl. He'd come to love her in the time he'd spent with her. Not like that, of course. She was Severin's girlfriend. Calamity loved her like family, because, chances were that she would end up with a wedding ring on her finger and Severin on her arm, wearing a wedding band. Hell, the girl deserved what she wanted; she loved a person like Severin. Th only one who could stand him before was Darren, and that was only because Severin absolutely, positively adored his baby brother. Although he was still a brat then, he was less of a brat than he currently was. And then, he was a little nicer to his older brother. Now, if Darren were alive, there would be one more person who cared about him enough that they'd be counting down the days until he came home.

Walking up to Claire's front door, helmet tucked under his arm, he knocked loudly. Sometimes, people didn't hear when another knocked. They depended on doorbells. But, doorbells kind of annoyed Calamity, so he didn't use them...ever. Unless he really, really had to. "Hey, Claire!?" he called. "Are you awake!? Come out!"

( Over 7000 posts, someone has no life & that someone is me <3 )

Claire scowled, more at her bitter loneliness than at Calamity's presence.

Claire was used to sleeping in a cami, and, occasionally, a pair of shorts, but then again, she was used to having Severin with her while she slept. She was used to being cold, but having someone there with her to snuggle up to and keep warm by. Now, only having him gone a day, she was in sweatpants and a sweater, under a blanket. Claire, too warm, refused to change anyway, opening her window instead.

Realizing this, she simply yelled to Calamity out her bedroom window. "No!" Claire yelled, "You come in here, I'm not dressed!" She was about to get dressed, though, and she didn't mind if he was there when she did. If he was, oh well. She was pretty sure he was gay, anyway.

"I-I just...!" Calamity sighed, shaking his head slightly. "But, aren't you naked!?" he called, walking into the house anyway. Although Severin had only been around for a day, the house seemed completely different without him. It was warm. At least, it was to Calamity. Severin seemed to leave a chill in any room he occupied, as if he were a ghost. So, now that the boy was gone, his girlfriend's home was warm. So strange.

Shrugging off his jacket, Calamity padded over to the fridge, taking out the leftover cake from the day before and helping himself to a slice. Scary as he might have looked, all clad in tight black leather and bullet belts, the fact that he was eating frilly pink cake made him a little less intimidating. "Fu.ck," he mumbled, cake still in his mouth. "I got frosting on my glove."

Claire rolled her eyes, although she knew Calamity couldn’t see. She pulled her shirt off throwing it to the floor. “No,” She replied, “I’m not.” Sure, Calamity was sweet, but she was dating his brother and she wasn’t attracted to him. So that made it okay to change in front of him, right? Claire didn’t care, that wasn’t where her mind was.

Pulling her pants off, Claire pulled on a pair of grey skinny jeans, hopping around and squirming to get them on. She pulled a baggy long-sleeved shirt from her closet. She wasn’t sure why she had it, perhaps it was Severin’s, and she claimed she’d never seen it so she could keep it and wear it around the house.
Clutching the shirt in her hand, Claire walked out of her room, still shirtless. She pulled it on over her head as she walked, and it fell past her waist and the sleeves completely concealed her hands. “Hey.” She said, plainly.

"Mkay!" Calamity was occupied with his cake-eating now. For some reason, whenever he licked frosting off when article of clothing, it would get on another. So, he was sitting at the counter, licking his clothes free of pink icing. It was only to pause, however, when Claire made her way into the room. She caught him mid-lick, his tongue on his sleeve.

Quickly, he stood. "Nobody here wants to see your chest, Claire." he told her, fixing the jacket which obviously wasn't her's and zipping it up. "This is Severin's, isn't it...?" Calamity asked in a murmur, his electric eyes growing soft as he rubbed a thumb into the worn fabric. "Oh, little brother..."

His eyes suddenly grew alight again, and he took Claire's hand, leading her to the cake. "Breakfast is cake. Isn't that great?" He sat her down, taking a plate of cake and setting it down in front of her. His large hand moved to pick up a cup, pouring milk into it and placing it next to the plate. "Eat up." Calamity told her, sticking a fork in the cake.

Claire rolled her eyes, smiling anyway. “Sorry, didn’t mean to gross you out.” She said before looking down at her sweatshirt. “Yeah, it is.” She smiled. “Still smells like him, too.” She said, pushing the sleeve up and pulling a chunk of her cake off, tossing it into her mouth, licking the frosting off of her finger. “It tasted better yesterday.” She said plainly.

Taking a sip of her milk, she stood closer to Calamity. “Can I ask you a question?” She asked, but without giving him much time to answer, she asked anyways. “Why me?” She asked simply. “Why did I fall in love with a boy just to have him leave? Why did he even notice me of all the girls he couldn’t impressed, fooled and won over?”

( ...I need to learn to read correctly... I totally thought she walked out wearing a jacket of Severin's and completely missed the part about the shirt...and jazz... I am insane. xDD )

Biting his lip, Calamity furrowed his brow. What a thing to say! It "still smelled like him"? Somehow that statement bothered him, like he knew that Claire was much too attached to Severin. Such an attachment couldn't be good for her sanity.

Calamity cocked an eyebrow. "It tastes better today," he disagreed, retaining his ex
pression until he looked down again. "All food tastes better when it turns into leftovers. Weren't you ever a teenager?" His bright yellow eyes flickered to the side, noticing Claire's change of position. She'd moved closer. But, for what reason?

Suddenly off-guard, his eyes widened considerably, and he gripped his chair lightly. "I-I..." Clearing his throat, Calamity began, "Claire...in the first place, Severin doesn't give a sh.it about girls. Let...let me tell you the story." He shifted, turning his body to face Claire and foldings his hands over a knee. "One day, Severin came home and told me, 'There's this girl following me around at school.' Now, this didn't happen often, since I'm not always around and he doesn't always want to talk, but there would be instances in which Severin would tell me, 'That pretty girl tried to talk to me today.' or, 'I almost held that girl's hand today.' For a while, you were just 'that girl' or 'that pretty girl.' To be honest...he didn't really notice you for a while. That's just because he doesn't notice anyone who doesn't stick out in his life.

"Eventually it got to the point where he didn't lock himself in his room all day, every day. He'd take a chair and sit by the window. He seemed like he was struggling with something. I never bothered him; there was no point. It was only until he asked me, 'How do you ask a girl out?' that I realized he'd actually taken a liking to you.

"You didn't fall in love with him. You fell in love with each other. If he could help it, he wouldn't leave you. But, it's easy to see, you can see it in his eyes. He knows that if he doesn't leave now, some day he'll have to pay the price. And then who knows how long he'll be away from you."

Claire scowled, back to picking at her cake. What did he mean, hadn’t she ever been a teenager? Here she was, depressed and confused about her relationship. Like EVERY teenager, it didn’t matter if she liked old food or not. She didn’t really mind, though. She wasn’t going to say anything.

When Calamity started to tell his story, she paid close attention, and couldn’t stop smiling. He thought she was pretty? And, she actually was worth being brought up. That made Claire feel unbelievably special for some reason. And when Calamity said ‘he asked how to ask a girl out’? She hid her face in her hands, her hair falling in her face, her hair falling around her hands, knowing she still had the paper and exactly where it was. When he finished his story, Claire raised her head, brushing her hair back with her hand.

“That really boosted my mood.” She replied, and then bit her lip. “Well, now it’s my turn to tell you a story.” Claire smiled. “Same theme,” She chuckled. “Uhm, I actually used to talk about Severin before I talked to him. I would see him in the hallways, always all along and exchange a knowing glance and grin with whoever I was walking with. There was just something about him, how he was always so… uhm, independent, I suppose, that made me admire that he didn’t mind that he didn’t need anyone for him to be happy. Perhaps he was more content without anyone, but I didn’t feel the same, and at first, I only had an interest in being his friend.

But as just a little time passed, I realized he’s really a good person, even though no one really sees it. He’s mean, and he’s a user, and he’s a loner, but he really can be sweet, if he tries.” She scratched her head, thinking on how to continue. “The first time I tried to talk to him, I already had one of those school-girl crushes on him, and he dropped a pencil, and grunted. I asked, ‘Huh?’ and he replied, ‘Was I talking to you..?’ and, no matter how harsh it was, I cherished those words, because they’re the first he ever said to me. Maybe it was his different personality and cold words that made him unique.

“We talked a little from then on, a very little. ‘Can you pass me that paper?’ or ‘I saw someone that looked like you this weekend.’ Nothing really serious, but I always wanted more. I would follow him around quite often, never thinking he noticed, but hoping he would and say, ‘oh, didn’t see you there.’, starting a conversation, but that never happened.

“It was actually really unexpected when he asked me out. Well, he never really asked, I guess. When he gave me that note.” Claire chucked lightly, “I still loved it, don’t get me wrong. I freaked. As soon as I could, I waited for him to get out of the office. When he did, I nearly tackled him; I was so excited that he asked. I never really had to say yes, we just kind of both knew I would, and did.” Claire smiled, remembering everything. “And since then, I just kinda slowly forgot about everything else. Volleyball, school, my parents, any friends... I just completely invested myself into him, and I was completely dependent on him, when him being so independent and for himself is what attracted me to him.” Claire sighed, “And now he’s all I ever think about. He’s what keeps me up at night, and when I do fall asleep, he’s what I dream about. He’s who I think of when sappy love songs come on the radio, and he’s who gets me through the tough times. I just love him so damn much...” Her voice trailed off, and got shaky, as if she was about to cry, because she felt like she was.

How she got from being so happy to so sad was crazy, but it was what she knew was going to happen.

"Gosh," Calamity breathed out a reply, closing his eyes. There were obviously other sides to Severin that Calamity didn't know; those were the sides that he actually would have known had they had a better life. Maybe Severin wouldn't have been too much of a cold person had Daran not died. That had happened years ago, but Severin wasn't the type of person to let go easily. He held onto everything, felt remorse about the simplest things rather than the latter, found new reasons to hold grudges...

It wasn't within Calamity's power to be able to help his brother, it seemed. Severin didn't listen to anyone; there really wasn't a voice in the world that could make him listen if he didn't want to. Not even Claire's, in fact. Calamity assumed in his mind that Claire had asked Severin to stay after escaping, but Severin had left anyway. In his most horrible decisions, Severin made the wisest decisions...sometimes. If it didn't involve drugs, Severin could make pretty good decisions. He had good judgement when he wanted to.

Basically, Severin could do as he pleased and would do as he pleased. The only thing was, he had no motivation to do so. As Severin grew up, Calamity wondered more and more to himself as to why Severin never did anything with himself. After all, the male had potential. Maybe it was just...

"He gave up on life a long time ago, Claire."

Calamity didn't react to his own words; he hadn't expected to say them, they were completely off-topic. But, maybe it was best to tell the girl now. "I don't think there's ever been a worse example of a child than Severin. He's not emotionally healthy. He doesn't react correctly to anything. He doesn't underreact, he doesn't overreact. You know what you need to do, Claire? Don't take this the wrong way, now..."

Looking down, Calamity let out a forced breath. "You need to stop being dependent, because Severin needs a chance to be dependent now. If you let him get any worse, he's never going to change and he's never going to get a chance to be a normal human being."
