It's modern days and humans are still has witless as they have been for the last ten centuries. Despite the efforts to eradicate the dragons, they have failed time and time again as the fey creatures use all the power and knowledge to their disposal to escape the deadly hunting packs that the humans sent out.
Now dragons are but a thing of the imagination and they are slowly creeping out, causing UFO sightings to spike and humans to come back to the house disheveled and fearful yelling stories of mas.sive scaled beasts with dagge like teeth four feet long and whip-like tails lined with poisoned spikes.
But they have been dismissed as hallucinations and the people locked up in institutes. But the truth is, they are the ones who are truly sane. For the dragons do exist, albeit mostly in a humane form. And they live among the humans like humans themselves, their neighbours, clas.smates or colleagues.
Of course, the harsh, technological life has taken a toll on the dragons and many of the elders have left and gone back to their ancient home in the Himalayas, leaving behind their stubborn offspring to stay in special boarding schools.
In particular is Beaumonte Springs, a carefully designed school normally filled with normal children, but not a least a tenth of the population belongs the the dragon shape-shifters. Mingling alongside the normal humans they try to fit into this new lifestyle, being centuries older than their cla.ssmates and friends.
The Shifters
The dragon-shifters are human in almost every aspect when a.ssuming said form. Tall, short, brown skinned or white skinned, they come in all sorts of forms and colors just like the average human. But a few things set them apart. Other than the obvious "being a dragon" thing, they also have multi-colored eyes that match their scales. The eyes have a larger than normal iris and the color almost seems to glow, and does shine in the dark. Their limbs tend to be longer and more graceful than a human's and they have much more powerful muscles, no matter their size. Their teeth tend to have suggested fangs. Other than that, they are mostly normal.

Dragons can breathe anything they wish as long as it makes sense, and cannot breathe both fire and ice, for example.
Dragons also have one elemental power which must tie in with what kind of magic they breathe. No ice-breathing dragons with fire elemental powers please.
