Nick grinned and followed her, dropping the snowballs at the door and approaching her with a smirk.

Zane turned around to find a vampire behind her. It wasn't the same one that appeared the day before. He grabbed a lock of her hair and twisted it around his finger. "You thought I was dead, didn't you?" The vampire said, tracing his finger along her jawbone. It was him. Her old boyfriend. She shivered at his touch, memories being brought back.

"R-Ryker?" Zane said, remembering his name.

"Yes," he said, putting his index finger over her lips. "Let's pick up where we left off," he said, entangling his hand in her hair and tilting her head back, fully exposing her neck. Zane didn't struggle. She was frozen in fear. He parted his lips and prepared to bite her.

A stunned look crossed Nick's face for a second before his protective instict took over. He quickly changed back into his wolf form, this time being careful to remove his jeans, and stalked over to the vampire, Ryker. Nick snarled and snapped, his fur bristling along his spine, shoulders, and tail to make him look bigger. Taking threatening steps forward, he bared his fangs and growled savagely. He had protected Zane before and he would do it again. As he neared the vampire's leg, he latched on, biting through the skin until he felt somthing hard his is fangs and heard a very slight crunch.

Ryker shreiked. That hurt like crap. He let go of Zane and she hit the floor.

Zane snapped out of the Ryker-spell and scremed. "Oh my god. It's him! Kill him, Nick!"

Ryker kicked Nick with his good leg, only making enough impact to throw him off of his leg. "I'd like to see this mutt try to kill me," he said, giving a challenging look to Nick. The truth was that Ryker was very weak. He relied on his compulsion skills in fights. He could make people attack eachother, kill themselves, fall in love. One flaw with that power: it only worked on the opposite sex.

Ryker's eyes went cold, a fuzzy glare going over the membrane that covered his eyes.

Zane looked at Nick, tears streaming down her face. She looked at the pile of blood on the floor. "Oh god. I'm gonna be sick." She walked outside and found a trashcan. She bent over it and barfed her guts out, sick from seeing a vampire's throat being torn out. She felt like crap. She didn't want to go back to the base, but she didn't want to stay anywhere near this place either.

"I hope not," Zane said, her face blank. She was staring off into space. It was her way of hiding her emotions. She leaned into him and put her head on his shoulder. Her cheeks weren't red. She was sad. Sad and depressed. Now, she couldn't ever trust her eyes. That's what she was thinking. If she saw Ryker die and he came back, then nothing could be real.

Zane's cheeks turned red again. "Idiot," she said, trying to hide her blush. "But why do humans have to be so weak? All we have for weapons are guns and swords. Even those are weak compared to vampires and werewolves. And our armor consists of cars made of tinfoil that completely crumble during car wrecks." She laughed, her cheeks still red. "Humans seriously need to up the anty."
