Gasping, Akalmora came to in a small room that smelled sharply clean. The spicy tingle of herbs and medicine was in her mouth, and the stick feeling of poultices made her nose twitch and crinkle. Her arm was in a basic sling with a soft fabric wrapped tightly around her arm. Her back throbbed and flamed in pure agony, and even while lying down, she could tell that there was a massive scar on it. Her head was going through a severe ache and she could barely think straight. The bleeding in her leg had stopped and was now wrapped tightly in the same fabric around her broken arm. The ankle she had sprained felt a lot better, and there was almost no more pain in it.
"You've finally woke up," A gentle voice from a middle-aged woman startled her. Akalamora stared into her motherly eyes.
"It's not every day a strange traveler shows up at the town gates, injured and bleeding. Your arm was broken, but the sling should help it heal. Your back is probably the worst injury. I'm not sure if you'll be able to walk with that type of wound across your spine. It's already better than it was when you were first brought in here. It's a nasty scar though, and will be there for a long time."
A pounding in her chest arose, clogging her dry throat. I might not be able to walk, Akalamora thought. Why not try it out?
She gracefully slid out of bed, careful not to jostle her arm in the sling. Her back exploded in a spark of fire, and pure agony lanced through her entire body, wracking it with shivers and spasms.
However, Akalamora managed to get to her feet. Once she was on her feet, her back didn't feel as bad. However, whenever she tried to twist around, her back screamed again. Wincing, Akalamora gathered courage inside of her and started to sprint as fast as she could.
Ignoring the surprised cries of the healer, Akalamora bolted out of the small house and gasped as her back began to creep along with cold fingers, gripping her in pain. Gritting her teeth, Akalamoa barely saw where she was going. She just had to get out the town before someone figured out she was elemental, even though she was currently unknown by the Order.
She was nearly at the town gates when she crashed into someone.
((Vinii, is it all right if the person Akalamora crashed into was Derek? c:))
