Lanya glared at Fenris for a moment as she thought, If Felnar were here, doing his duty, then maybe this wouldn't be happening1 but instead he was running around with Alesa. He told me to make sure all the wolves stayed near here and then he left with her. She made up her mind, in that moment to go and find him and glared once more at Fenris before sprinting off in the direction where Alesa and Felnar had gone. It didn't take long before she picked up their trail and followed it through the woods. It mingled with the unmistakable scent of deer until she spotted the deer. Here, Alesa and Felnar's scents seperated and Lanya followd only his. It didn't take long before she spotted him waiting to attack the deer. She went up next to him quietly and said, "You need to come back now. I know you're the Alpha, and I'm not trying to tell you what to do, but something bad happened. Zaylek confronted Maxis about hurting Sabeline and Maxis attacked him. Sabeline rushed in and Maxis nearly killed her, and Fenris joined Maxis and tried to help him attack Zaylek. Come on!"

Sabeline nodded and sat up, then weakly got to her feet. She shook as she walked, since it was hard for her to balance herself at this point. She didn't bother to look at her wounds, because she knew that seeing them would only make her think it was worse. Maybe it was. But she wasn't going to look at them. She turned back to Zaylek. "Thank you." She said, her voice barely above a whisper. She would've nuzzled him or something if she wasn't so sore. Her neck and back leg hurt the worst, but so did her back from being slammed onto the ground. --- When Iveria had finished eating the deer, she left the pack's territory without saying a word to any of them. They feared her. She knew it. In her opinion, it was a good thing. None of them would ever dare to attack her. She could never fight them all at once, but they still didn't seem brave enough. She walked for a while, aimlessly, and soon was at the border of another pack's territory. [Desolei Pack's Territory.] She paused for a moment, then walked right in. She was planning on just passing through the pack's territory, but as she walked just a little further, she could see a black wolf chasing a deer right toward her.[Grissom.] Grissom bolted after the deer, but was shocked when it stopped running straight and skidded to a halt. He was suprised, but bit the deer's hind leg in an attempt to break it, snarling as he did so. He was shocked when the deer fell to the ground completely. Dead. How did that even happen...? He stared at the deer for a second, then looked up to see a white and silver wolf standing on the other side of the deer, her face completely covered in blood. He could smell that it wasn't just the deer's blood. It was mostly the deer's blood, but not all of it was. There was blood from another deer, and from a wolf. None of the blood belonged to the white and silver wolf, but he could tell she'd been hurt several times before from her scars, which were mostly on her front legs and around her neck. However, there was one right below her nose that really stood out, and it must've been given to her recently. He could tell from all these scars that she was probably an experienced fighter. He took a couple steps back, and she smiled, and started laughing at him. "Who...are you?" Iveria smirked. "You mean you don't know? I'm your worst nightmare, my friend." She paused to look at Grissom's reaction to that, which was an ex pression that basically said: You're kidding, right? "Heh...no. My name's Iveria."

Alesa's lips turned up ever so slightly in a smirk. The deer were so oblivious to the two predators that were around them. She was about to give a gentle nod to signal her Alpha so they would get some well-needed prey, though she saw a blur of familiar fur pass through the trees. It was Lanya. What is she doing here? Alesa wondered, confusion apparent on her face. Lanya was then speaking to Felnar. They were in the middle of a hunt! Couldn't this wait? The deer could scatter from any sounds at any moment!

Felnar's eyes narrowed. "You left them alone together?! If anything, you needed to separate them and make sure that Sabeline and Zaylek were both okay. I'd have liked to finish this hunt, and if you'd properly carried out you duties, I would, but now it seems like I don't have a choice," he growled angrily. Lanya should be more than capable of handling a situation like that, if anything she could have headed back to the thicket to pick up another wolf for help; the denning area was closer anyway. As if to prove his point and enrage him even more, the doe'd head suddenly shot up, and she scented the air. Felnar watched the doe turn and flee, tail waving like a flag, as hunger, anger, and hopelessness clawed hungrily at his stomach. Pretty soon she was back among the ranks of her herd, and they were slowly shambling over to the edge of the clearing, sensing that the threat had passed.
"Alesa!" Felnar called, "Get back to the denning area and make sure everyone stays put, I'll be there as soon as possible!" He wheeled around to face Lanya, and stepped forward, pushing past her. He stuck his nose to the ground to pick up Lanya's trail, and soon detected it. He stood up straight, but didn't wait for Lanya to say or do anything, rather bolted off, racing along her scent trail.
Thankfully it didn't take Felnar long to reach the place where the four wolves had fought. He smelled the blood before he saw it, and almost ran into Sabeline and Zaylek. "What happened here?" he asked, wanting to know every side of the story before he worried about much else, as the fighting seemed to have ceased. "I need to know."

Letting out a short, soft growl, Alesa's tail swished with annoyance as the doe flitted off to be with the herd. There was no way they would be able to get it easily now. At Felnar's words, Alesa dipped her head and answered, "Yes, Alpha." She turned around and quickly began to trot through the forest. She could almost sense Felnar's agitation in the depths of his words, and if she were in his position, she'd probably be upset, too. The wolf still couldn't believe that Lanya would come out here and interrupt a hunt to support her own pack and well-being to get an Alpha to deal with things a Beta could surely handle. With a sigh, Alesa soon saw the familiar surroundings of her camp. She began to walk around, taking check of the pack. Everybody was here except for Zaylek, Sabeline, Fenris, and Maxis, so all was good.

Zaylek sighed, "I'm sure Lanya must have already told you, and I'm not going to repeat it. I'm taking Sabeline to my den now." He shouldered past Felnar, making sure to bump into him a little, and led Sabeline into a crevice under the roots of a tree. It was large enough to accomodate four wolves at a time and perfect for a healer. After laying her down, he crouched beside her and started to clean her fur. ((Sorry for it being so short.)) -------------------------------------------------- Lanya growled slightly after Felnar ran off, it was so like him to blow up at her for trying to help. She ran after him and got there just in time to see Zaylek walk past him and she walked in front of Felnar. "Whats your problem!?!" she growled, not waiting for him to answer, "You're the Alpha around here, and yet you weren't here doing your job! Maybe if you weren't running around with that stupid she-wolf, Alesa, then you would have been here to help your pack! And when did a she-wolf and a deer become so much more important than the pack you're supposed to lead? I never questioned that you would be a better leader than I would be, but now I'm second quessing that." She trailed off towards the end of her rant, "I did my best!" She said, getting louder once again.

Felnar snarled, anger at the disrespect Zaylek had shown him by bumping into him, and Lanya's rage at him. He would deal with Zaylek later, the wolf had a patient to treat, and he was still probably pretty worked up, although that didn't exactly justify his actions. Most of his rage was directed at Lanya however, he'd seen her do better, and just because it was the mating season didn't mean she had an excuse. "Lanya, I've seen you do better than what you've done so far today, normally you're not afraid to step in, you don't need to go running to me every time there's a problem, what would you have done if I wasn't anywhere near here today, say, if I was in a meeting with Conri, Delolei's Alpha?" Felnar began in a voice of forced calm. He sat down but pricked his tail as a warning, he didn't want a fight but he wasn't going to back down if it came to that. "You have to remember the authority that belongs to you, give warnings if you have to, your rank allows you to be aggressive to any wolf but me, if you absolutely have no choice. If there's a major problem, and you can't get help from another pack member not currently involved, then come and find me. But never, under almost no circumstances, except if you have a serious problem you need help with, never interupt a hunt. We have no idea when the deer will be back, or how many there even are. We have to hunt and eat when we can. And I was doing my job, I have a duty to my pack, part of it is feeding them, I was hunting, and it was a lot easier to have help bringing the deer down than to do it by myself. Bringing a deer down by yourself, even a doe, is difficult and dangerous, and interuptions are more likely to get someone hurt, or even killed. Don't bring Alesa into this, she didn't do anything, and it wasn't her fault that you couldn't handle a fight by yourself, when you usually have no problem with your duties. There was no need to come find me when by the looks of things, you had broken up the fight and the wolves were calming down." Felnar finished, now out of breath. He tensed himself for Lanya's reaction, not sure how she would view his explanation.

Lanya spoke calmly, pronouncing each word with a delicacy that was usually only used for pups, "I came to find you because you are supposed to lead us, not be running around with Alesa. And yes, hunting is important, I know that. But it won't be important if the pack members all kill each other." She only seemed calm, on the inside she was boiling with anger. How dare he! She only wanted the best for everyone, and he should know that by now. She was trying to be the best Beta possible, but that was hard with him embarrasing her, like he was now. She'd had enough. "I guess I was right." Lanya paused for a moment, smiling, "You don't deserve to be pack leader." And with that, she launched herself at him, biting deep into his shoulder.

Felnar growled angrily, and swiped at Lanya, smacking her hard in the ribs. He left light scratches against her side, and tore himself away from her, dancing back out of her reach, although his shoulder was heavily damaged. He knew he had a size and wight advantage, if it was worth anything. He hurled himself at her, and managed to step on her paw. With that he shoved her down, his shoulder stinging. "Discipline doesn't sit well with you does it," he commented angrily, not bothering to pin her down. If she was going to act as irresponsible as that, she didn't deserve to be Beta. He glanced down at her, well aware that she was likely to spring up and attack him again, as she was in better shape in the first place. "I'm afraid Lanya," he paused, "that there's only one of me, that's why a wolf pack has a Beta, to cover for the Alpha where he can't be, so I would appreciate it if you could actually realize that none of this was my fault, and Alesa had nothing to do with it. If pack members are killing each other, and you were present and I'm not, then who's fault is it?" He barked at her. Felnar stepped away, not caring if she came after him, she'd proven that she couldn't function very well right now, for whatever reason, and he wasn't going to put up with it.

"I try, okay!?!" Lanya said, but her voice cracked, taking some of the menace out of the words. "I'm not an Alpha though, just a Beta. I'm not used to dealing with stuff like this yet!" She stood up and shook herself off, "And I'd be a bit more respectful if you didn't talk so down to me. Yes, I know you're the Alpha, but maybe you could give me a more important job than checking to see if all the wolves are near." She paused and then growled, "I bet you wish Alesa was your Beta, don't you?" She huffed, "Don't think I didn't notice how you blew me off to go huntung with her..." Finally she growled once more and ran past him, swatting his hard across the shoulder she had bitten as she went. She ran as fast as she could in no particular direction, rustling bushes and trees as she went. As soon as she felt she could not run anymore, she slowed to a fast jog. At this point she didn't care whether she was on Miroan territory, Desolei territory, or just the place where loners roamed. As far as she was concerned, she was just a loner roaming around. Nothing mattered but escaping the horrible life she had been leading. It had no love, no friends, and only consisted of hunting and fighting. She was done with it. She was a loner from now on. ((This is not where I intended it to go... it just happened...))

((huh, I feel like I should say something, I'm just not sure what...))
Felnar flinched as his shoulder began to sting worse than ever. He shook his head. Something was up with Lanya, like she was trying to impress someone. She never blew up like that, at least not normally. Then Felnar remembered something his sister had said what seemed like ages ago, during a past mating season: 'love can change wolves, expect to be surprised,' she's told him. He'd been confused at the time, but now he thought he understood. He wondered if Lanya would be back. "If only she'd taken the time to realize what she does for the pack, I wonder what she had against Alesa?" he murmured to himself, trying to understand. He shook himself and staggered forward. He needed to get to water.
---
The trip took much longer than expected, what with Felnar's shoulder and sudden exhaustion. But he made it to the river, and cleaned his shoulder. Now he lay on the bank, tensed, as if waiting for something, but there was nobody there. Still, he felt like something would happen sooner or later that would make things make sense. He wondered how Conri had dealt with this first day so far, and wondered, for what he assumed wouldn't be the last time, if he was a good leader after all.

Lanya just wandered around aimlessly for a few minutes, not sure where she was, but not really caring. She felt free; like all the weight had been lifted from her shoulders. Her life felt new, like it could actually mean something again. The thought was strange now, how could her life mean something if no one was there whose life could be changed by her. The thought evaporated out of her mind as quickly as it had come. If course there was an emptiness from losing the stability of pack life, but not as much as she would have thought. Lanya wanted to be bold, show everyone what she was capable of. Just enough to stop them from messing with her as a loner. First, though, she wanted to do something else. She could now see how Maxis had felt. All the restrictions had been destroying her life, she just hadn't noticed it before. She took of running straight back the way she had come. if any wolf were watching her, they would have thought she was an idiot, but she didn't really care anymore. Only a moment or two later, she was standing in at the site where Zaylek and Maxis had fought. Not three seconds had passed before she spotted Maxis and padded over. "Now, don't get all defensive about me being here. I only wanted to say something about what happened earlier. I saw your eyes, they were full of fury at... everything, Miroan pack, for one. And I just wanted to say that now I know what you felt, or still feel, like." Before she left, she said one more thing. "I'm a loner now, but I still can't wait to see what you have planned." And with that she ran off, straight towards Desolei territory. What a better way to prove her defiance of everything Miroan than waltzing into their enemy's territory and socializing a bit. She would have to find a lone Desolei wolf to actually have a chance if she was attacked, but it was well worth the risk. She wanted to let them know that Miroan was a pack member down, and maybe she would even find Grissom while she was at it. He would probably think she was traitorous for leaving her pack and want nothing to do with her, but what did that matter. After sprinting along at a pace she usually reserved for deer, she soon spotted a white and silver she-wolf she didn't recognize and a pitch balck wolf, Grissom! Oh, what luck! Just the wolf she had hoped to see. She walked right in and opened her mouth to say something when she noticed something off. The white wolf was standing near a dead deer and was covered in battle scars. Something was off, and she slunk backwards a few steps towards the trees and crouched. They must've already seen her, but she would at least be ready to pounce if it got to that...

"Well, Iveria, you're tresspassing." Grissom snarled. "Get out of here." He bit Iveria below her eye, and she yelped, then stood there for a second, too shocked to move for a moment, and her ex pression quickly turned to fury. Iveria bit his shoulder, and dodged out of his way before he could fight back. She knocked him onto the ground, but Grissom threw her off him. She came back at him and bit him by the scruff of the neck, then threw him headfirst into a tree. He fell to the ground. He wasn't dead, but he'd blacked out. Iveria smirked, and grabbed the Desolei Beta by the scruff of his neck, and began to drag him toward the Miroan camp. She knew that if she said that she'd found an intruder in Miroan territory, the Desolei wolf would probably be killed, and Iveria would probably be rewarded.

Felnar growled to himself, and flopped onto his side with the uninjured shoulder. He adjusted himself so one paw was dipped in the water. He traced a claw through the cold, crisp and clear liquid, making patterns and designs as the slow-moving current churned the water around in beautiful glistening waves. A slight breeze stirred the brush, causing the small little new green growth to dance around, and some old fallen leaves to dart around. Even more of Felnar's winter coat was lost, leaving with the breeze, and he sighed, sad, frustrated, angry, and confused all at the same time. He didn't want to go back to his pack, but he didn't want to go anywhere else. Hunting? Nah, he didn't think he should risk another of those episodes today.
What to do? Perhaps he should take off, head for the mountains, nobody would bother him there but the loners, if even that. But Felnar knew that living on his own would change him, and he was afraid of that. Who exactly would he become? He had so many questions racing through his head, with answers for none of them.
Felnar's shoulder stung worse than ever as he rolled over on it, and soon it was bleeding again, but he took no notice. There he simply lay, on his back, staring at the treetop canopy above him, his front paws tucked against his chest, ears flat against the gound. He wanted company, but at the same time he didn't. He also wanted to slip away from his life for a little while into the comforting, dark folds of sleep where he wouldn't have to think. His last thought before he drifted off was that someone didn't find him and wake, or hurt him in his very welcomed slumber.

Lanya's eyes widened. The loner was taking Grissom into Miroan territory where he would surely be killed! She growled and launched herself out of the canopy of trees and headfirst into the loner, Iveria as Grissom had called her. Lanya bowled Iveria over and bit as hard as she could into her neck. No one could mess with the love of her life right in front of her and hope to get away with it. ((So, so short... not exactly sure what to write, sorry))

Iveria snarled and threw Layna off her. She could tell her neck was bleeding pretty badly, but she was furious right now. She would deal with the bleeding later on.
"Don't interfere!" She shouted, a little louder than she'd planned to. She'd screamed it, actually, and a few birds flew out of nearby trees, startled. She tried quickly to think of what to due, but it was likely that Desolei patrols would be on their way now.
She narrowed her eyes at Layna, then padded over to Grissom, who was still unconcious, and bit into the side of his neck, not hard enough to kill him, but enough to make him bleed. Have fun explaining that to the Desolei wolves. She smirked, then ran off into the woods as quickly as she could.
