[[I was just thinking that earlier. I think we shouldn't have to wait for each other if it only two characters alone. We should when they are all together, but for now it's okay.]]

From somewhere beyond, Aria could hear the village finally coming to life. She could hear all the cheerful greetings (well, cheerful in comparison to what Aria’s accustomed to - they really weren’t all that cheerful), the calls of the vendors trying to sell their goods, the children laughing and running around... all of them living the life Aria wished she could. As the boy made his way over, Aria tugged angrily at her hair. She didn’t know why everyone hated her hair, but she knew they did. But, no matter what she did, she couldn’t hide her strange hair. On multiple occasions, she’d tried cutting it, only to have it grow back to the same length within seconds. And no matter how much dirt she came into contact with, it always failed to taint her bizarrely-coloured hair.
At the sound of the boy unzipping his bag, Aria snapped out of her thoughts. Aria watched him intently, wondering why he’d followed her in the first place. As the boy pulled out a wrapped package from his bag, Aria gasps quietly. She recognized the wrapping from the baker’s dumpster. As the boy takes her hand in his, she feels the warmth and softness of his skin, causing an onslaught of sadness. When was the last time she’s ever made contact with anyone? About ten years? No one has hugged her, comforted her, or held her hand, in the last ten years. She doesn’t really need it anymore, but it’s sad remembering her childhood deprived of any love or care.
After handing her the package and comforting her in a whisper, the boy got up and brushed his pants. Panicked, Aria grabbed onto his hand. She didn’t want him to leave.
“T-thank you,” she whispered, struggling with the words. It was the first time she’d spoken to anyone since she’d endured the harsh life of a street kid.
Letting go of the boy’s hand, she sits down, places the package in her lap, pulls off her hoodie and places it on the ground beside her. Shivering slightly in her pale pink, long-sleeved shirt, she pats her hoodie and manages to get out a quiet, “Sit.”
After taking her hand away from her sweater, she starts to unwrap the package. Unfortunately, as soon as she looks down at it, her hair falls down in front of her face, blocking her view. Sighing, she reaches into her pocket and pulls out a dirty, worn ribbon and ties her long, seasonally green hair back. Satisfied, she finally gets the pastry unwrapped and takes a huge bite out of it. And in that moment, she could have sworn she’d never felt so grateful in her life.

((Alright. I was just curious since they were apart..))
Ryu looked at the girl, clearly she was misunderstanding what he was saying. He opened his mouth to speak, but she continued to talk and he shut his mouth. He let her rant about the hatred and beating their kind has had to endure. He knew this hatred she felt towards the humans. Sure, he hated them too and yes, the beating they delivered to the dryads was painful, but there was also something in him that told him they weren't all bad. Or more like couldn't all be bad. Not every human would hate them like these people did. He let out a heavy sigh when she was done. The words hit home and it stung a bit. He looked up at her, his jade green eyes settling on the top of her head, since she seemed fascinated with the floor now. He placed his hand gently on her head, not like a parent to a child. He brought his hand down to gently card through her hair. It was kind of dirty, or felt that way. She had been out in the streets for a while.
"I never said my beatings were worse than your's or your's were worse than mine. All I was saying was that you're a girl and from what I've watched in my days on the street was that the girls tend to bruise and cut more easily than the men. They skin seemed more delicate and if we got the same treatment in beatings, then you have had one hell of a life." His voice cracked a bit as he spoke and he reached for his water, drinking half the cup.
"Why? I guess... You're like me. Dryad. Different. You know what I've had to go through because of some curse than some queen long ago placed on this village. You know the pain and suffering that I've endured and healed from. You've been in my shoes. Walked a thousand miles like me. YOu're like me. Sure, it sounds weird and crazy, but you do know." He ran his hand thorugh his hair and down his arm. It wasn't something he expected to answer, but he knew she would ask some time. He sighed. "I'm going to help you as long as you need it. I won't hurt you or kick you out of here. I thought I was alone and now, I found a person, well Dryad. I'm not about to throw you to the wolves."

To say Nova was surprised she had actually grabbed his hand when he stood, was an understatement. He was prety shocked. Nobody ever wanted him to stay with them for any amount of time. Sure, there were little kids here and there that would come up to him secretly and play with him, but that was all before the kids' parents would drag them away. Oh, not to mention beat Nova before they left. He remembered those times and it brought a sad feeling over him for a few seconds. He was brought from his emotions when the girl let go of his hand and sat down. Sit. Simple enough word.
He walked over and just as he was about to sit, he noticed her hair. Green hair! Greeen! His face lit up and he reached out to gently card his fingers through the green locks. It was such an odd color but beautiful at the same time. It had him mesmerized and he wanted to rub his cheek on it, but that was just weird. He smiled brightly and kneeled in front of her, watching her take a huge bite from the pastry he had given her. His eyes were drawn back to her hair. Green! He couldn't get over that. It was soft and he gave a small giggle. IN the back of his mind, Nova could swear this meant something important, but he couldn't quite grasp it.
He looked her up and down again as she ate and then, it clicked! The moment had his eyes wide and his hand coming up and over his mouth. "You... You're not human, are you?" He leaned closer, getting a few inches from her face. His nose inches from hers. "You're dryad.. Aren't you?" His voice low just in case anybody was walking by or around the corner, dumping something out. It made his mind race. Dryads. There were more out there than just him. It was a delightfully happy thought, but the reality was so much worse. It meant she was also beat and teased adn unloved. People throwing stuff at her, throwing out spiteful names and curses. His eyes softened, each one darkening a shade. Amber went to a deep orange and red darkening to a blood red. It stung. "Did you want another? I have plenty." He removed his bag and unzipped it, showing her the largest pouch was just about full of prewrapped pasteries.

A strange weight settled on Rue's head and made its way down through her hair until it resumed its place back at Ryu's side. The touch was warm and gentle and she longed for it to comfort her once more. However, she wasn't use to this kind of kindness, and those warm words that came out of his mouth, so she didn't know how to respond. She could feel her cheeks begin to warm when he laid his hand on her head, so her eyes continued to watch the floor intently as the lingering feeling of his hand played with her emotions.
Rue didn't want to talk anymore but she couldn't leave him in this dreadful silence. However, she feared that whatever words that were going to stumble out of her mouth could never be as kind and as warm as his. The words she had spoken always seemed so cold and harsh and accusing, something she knew she must have picked up from the humans. Ryu didn't deserve for her to talk to him like that. He deserved for someone to treat him kindly, and Rue didn't know if she would be able to do that. Although, from what he was saying, he really did understand her and he did go through the same hatred she went through. However in Rue's mind it seemed impossible for anyone to understand her. Anything is possible though! And at this thought a small smile found its way to her face as she broke eye contact from the ground. "If only we could find this queen and change the cure, thus changing our fate and hatred." She mumbled to herself, knowing that this was the only thing that was truly impossible. Well, I guess not everything is possible then, huh. She responded to her last though.
Rue brought her eyes to Ryu as if she had said nothing prior to what she was about to say. "You should really be more careful with the people you trust." She said with a warning tone trying to add kindness and playfulness to it, but failing. "Just because someone might have walked the same path as you doesn't mean that they have reacted the same." Her voice started to soften as she got more serious. Then Rue took a slight pause, trying to come up with the courage to tell him what she has been feeling, "And I am sorry for what I said earlier, I... I just got carried away. But no matter what I say, I will always be grateful of what you have done for me. Please remember that." Rue didn't know if her cheeks cooled down when she first started to talk to him, but she knew that they were back to being warmed, however, she wouldn't let her embarrassment move her eyes from his.

As Aria continued to nibble on her treat, she watched the boy come toward her. When he came to a stop in front of her, Aria finally got a good look of his face. He had long, jet black hair that fr[injection]amed his soft, sun-kissed face; but she didn’t dwell on his hair for long, because from this close, she could see that his eyes were indeed different from one another. Awed at his contrastingly-colored eyes, she momentarily forgot about the pastry in her hands and concentrated solely on his face. His right eye was a stunning, pure red, demanding her attention; while his left was a soft, golden brown. If Aria placed her full attention upon his red eye, it made the boy seem sharp and attentive. If the left eye had her full attention, she could swear she could see straight into his kind heart and soul. It was almost as if his face told the timeless battle between the human mind and the human heart. But when Aria looked at his face as a whole, she didn’t see a battle at all. Together, his eyes seemed to be two halves of a whole. Without the other, the full story was untold. Watching the boy so intently, she almost didn’t noticed when he leaned over and touched her long, unruly hair.
Aria snapped out of her awed, trance-like when her stomach rumbled, reminding her that she still hasn’t finished off the pastry. Taking another huge bite, she suddenly realized the boy was watching her as intently as she’d been watching him. Confused, her brows furrowed as she tried to figure out what he found so interesting. Just as she finished off the pastry and was about to ask him, he spoke. But after he spoke, the only thing that changed was that the boy’s face was now a mere few inches from hers; she was still utterly confused. As she searched her mind, trying to understand the things he’d said, she managed to catch a softening in his eyes. And then he removed his bag, revealing a bag full of more sweet-tasting treasures. She felt her mouth drop open and her eyes flicked between the bag and the boy.
“Y- no. They are yours.”
She was so tempted to take another, but...
“Why are you being so nice?” Her words flowed slowly, hesitantly; she was worried she was using the wrong words. Having her limited education, she’s learned everything she knows from watching and listening to the villagers from the shadows.
Forcing herself to look away from the temptation, she focused on his face, which made it impossible to ignore his eyes. Hesitantly, she reached the short distance that separated the two of them and rested her hand just by his left, golden brown eye.

((sorry, had a lot of work to do for school.))
Ryu couldn't really believe what he was hearing. Her words were still harsh, still coated in frost and some venom. It kind of hurt him since he had been as kind as he could to the girl. He could say hurtful things, could have left her out there by the well to fend for herself, thrown her to the wolves, but he didn't. It stung and Ryu couldn't hold her gaze. He dropped his head down into his hands and shook his head, chuckling slightly. His eyes darkened and he looked up, meeting her eyes with his. "I don't really care.. People are hate filled beings and they choose not to trust those they don't know because of what they have heard or seen. Mainly heard."
He stood up and walked to his sink, looking into the water that was there. He looked down at his own reflection and stared at his hair. His cursed hair. "I chose to trust because I'm not blinded by hate filled notions of people. I don't let these hateful words fill my head with wrong ideas. I think for myself and see the good in most." He let out a small, pitiful laugh. He shook his head. He looked up and out the boared up window, the wood started splintering. Ryu turned around and leaned against the sink before he pulled his hood up and over his eyes. Hiding emotion. "If we did find this Queen, what makes you think she would even help us change our fate. It's called fate for a reason."
It still throbbed, a little bit, but it was still there. He walked over to his cupboard and opened the door, causing it to creak loudly. He rummaged through it and pulled out some pre-wrapped pasteries. He walked over to her and placed a pasteries on the Rue's lap. He unwrapped one and took a bite. It was still soft, which was pretty good. "YOu shouldn't be so harsh to those who chose to trust on their own judgement. I have my own will and my own mind. I've walked in your shoes, a thousand miles at that, and I've suffered at their hands. Knives and pots and pans and rolling pins. I've suffered through a branding rod from the old farmer just beyond the baker. I'll trust who I chose to." It came out bitter, leaving a nasty aftertaste in his mouth. Those words were harsh, but he could only take so much back and forth emotions from a person when he'd been subjected to hatred most of the time.

((Nova has a fan-girl. XD))
Nova could see the hestitation when she answered his first questioned and right now, he didn't care what her answer was. He heard that growl and he knew she was still hungry. He chuckled and dug through the pasteries, pulling out the largest one he had taken from the dumspter, it looked like a little cake, without all the frosting. The inside was gooey and probably warmed from it being under all the others. He placed it gently in her left hand, telling her she needed to eat. "I won't take no for an answer." He smiled sweetly at her, his inner child becomig very happy.
He could tell when she spoke that she was drawn to his eyes and it bothered him. Sure, other people were always looking at his eyes to see if they really were different, but this.. This just took the cake. It was as if she could see right into his soul. His soul. out for her to see. He felt soul-naked. He chuckled at his own thought and was jolted from his thoughts when he felt a hand on his cheek. He flinched slightly, almost expecting her to bring her hand back and slap him. But she didn't. He looked up at her and smiled.
"Me? Well, I can't let others starve for one. That's just not human. I have plently to spare plus more that stocked at my little tree house. And you're not doing me any harm. It's just the right thing to do really. And you looked so scared when the bells rang that I knew you had bad experiences here." He shrugged it off, not even knowing why he had followed her in the first place. He was just kind of throwing stuff out there. He smiled and placed his hand on hers. "Ya know, you're hair's a lovely color for the season. Does it change?" He ruined the moment... but he couldn't help himself.

His kind eyes left hers, and when he looked back up it seemed as if he was a new person. His eyes carried a dark gleam to them and his voice, a bitter-filled truth. It was strange to Rue that he was talking to her like this; it was as if she was transparent. Was it that obvious that it was hard for her to trust people, and was what he was saying true? Was her trust issues solely based on the hatred that she has been receiving since she was a little girl? Was she so blinded by hatred that there wasn't an ounce of kindness left in her?
The words he spoke really struck Rue in a way she wasn't expecting. Her eyes got weighed back down to the floor where they remained until he spoke about the Queen. However, she was hesitant to talk. She didn't want to disappoint Ryu and make him act like this anymore. She wanted the kind Ryu back, the one who had taken her in and offered her so much, when she could do so little. When he walked over to her and placed food on her lap, Rue looked up and stared at him as he ate his pastry.
She didn't quite understand Ryu. She didn't know what type of person he was; kind or bitter. However, Rue felt as if he would be kind to her no matter what. The thought made her smile. For now on, Ryu will be an exception. She will try her best not to be so...so.... reserved around him. She will try to let kindness into her heart and will try to trust him. But if she was asked to make an exception and be nice to anyone else, she didn't know if she could do it.
Rue looked down at her lap where the pastries laid. She unwrapped one and brought it up to her lips. The smell was overwhelmingly delicious as she took a bite out of it. The taste of food made spiteful memories come back, but she quickly shooed them away. This was the first steep of trying to rid the hatred from her heart. "This is good, thank you." Rue said once she swallowed her food. She looked back up to Ryu as she tried her best to soften up her words, "You are right. I must be blinded by hatred that I have received. However, I will try to trust and be kinder. I really will!" Her words were pathetic, but she continued, "I am sorry, I have caused you trouble." She said softly. Then she added, softer than before, "I just wish you wound't hide your hair."
She scarfed down the rest of the food before bringing back a curious topic, "Fate is meant to be tested," Rue said standing up and walking over to a window. She peered outside wondering if what she was saying was true, "We shouldn't just sit here in fear awaiting our death." She turned her face towards Ryu and tried to bring a smile to her face, "If you have your own will and can think for yourself, then you shouldn't have to live a fate meant for someone else." She said, attempting to tease him playfully.

Ryu could tell the ice covering his heart was thickening. It was showing itself by having his personality change so quickly. He knew this side of his wasn't what he really wanted to show. It bugged him, but with how back and forth her emotions were, he knew he couldn't keep that side of him under control the way he'd like. He didn't mean to let his personality change like that, but it coudn't really be prevented. He finished his pastry and looked up at Rue, her words just barely reaching his ears. The corner of his lips quirking up in a half smile. "You're welcome and it's good that you're going to try and be kinder, though I'm not going to expect you to be kind to everybody you meet. I mean,I don't trust everybody."
He grabbed the edges of his hood, pulling it off and back to let his hair show. There wasn't much light in the cabin, so his hair was slightly more grey than white. He looked around and noticed something was missing. "Yes, Fate is meant to be tested... Okay seriously, where is that cat?" He opened cabinets and even looked under the bed Rue was sitting on. He heard a soft mewl coming from outside the door and opened it, the little cat striding in. The cat jumped up onto the sink and then onto Ryu's shoulder and settling into his hood. "We can try, but there's no way we can find the Queen with the spell that's surrounding the village. I mean, we can't even leave. Or... haven't tried leaving." He sighed and looked at rue.
"I apologize for my mood swing. I've had issues with my emotions since people found out I was Dryad. I can't stay possitive all the time, except with this little guy." The cat mewled as if to answer Ryu back. "I truly am sorry for being so cold to you earlier. Did you need more food? I'm unsure as to when you last atte or last ate well." He shrugged. "I can go find more food if you don't wanna continue eating pasteries."

Her words must have sounded at least a bit kinder, for Ryu's pleasant smile and kind words had once again warmed her when this autumn air couldn't. Your the only exception. She thought; in response to his first sentence. The notion made her confused, but admiration and envy stabled her. Oh how she admired and envied Ryu's kindness! Both of the contradicting emotions made her determined to change, no matter how small the effect or change.
Rue's eyes softened when she saw the bright white locks start to revive with a swift motion from Ryu. His hair wasn't as brilliantly white as earlier in the day, however, the beauty of it was still illuminating the room. When Ryu started to talk again, Rue laughed softly. It seemed as if Ryu was distracted with finding a cat. It was how ironic his distraction was that made her laugh. And when Ryu finally found the cat, did it make sense. He seemed more at ease with the comfort of the cat.
However, before Rue could comment on the Queen issue, Ryu spoke again. At these words Rue stood up straight and took a step towards Ryu, "No, I've caused you enough trouble, you mustn't worry about getting me food, the pastry will suffice, and you mustn't apologize, for you have done nothing wrong, it was my fault anyhow!" Her intentions when she spoke were kind and good, however, she spoke in such a rush that they came out with a unpleasant aftertaste. Instantly, Rue noticed the harshness of her voice and she dropped her eyes to the ground. With a shaky inhale, she spoke once again. Her words soft and slow, "Sorry, I didn't mean to-" She stopped short, and gave up on what she was about to say; fearing that it will come out wrong.
Instead Rue continued down a different path, though her words still soft, holding a slow pace, "It does seem impossible for us to get out, doesn't it? I'm curious how the our parents, the Dryads even got in here, if the rumors I've heard were true." She stayed silent for a while, and then shamefully lifted her eyes up to Ryu and continued, "Maybe we can get the Queen in here somehow." Rue neglected her curiosity that dealt with how her parent came through the cursed border.

His chuckle was quiet; barely audible over the noises of the newly awaken village, but she heard it, and it put a smile on her face. She’d made him laugh; she didn’t know how, but she preferred it over the scowls, yells and (often sharp) ob[injection]ject that people would usually respond to her with. As the boy pulled out another pastry from his bag, her eyes widened, and she could felt her jaw drop slightly. It was huge compared to what she was used to. If she were to add up the amount of food she consumed in two weeks, it wouldn’t come close to comparing. As he placed the package in her hands, she could feel the warmth from the pastry seeping into her slightly chilled fr[injection]ame. Although she could smell the pastry in her hand, and boy, did it smell amazing, but she couldn’t focus on it for long. After noticing his eyes, she couldn’t find it within herself to keep her eyes off them for long.
After explaining why he was giving her found, she was still awfully confused. That’s just not human? No one else had ever cared if she starved, or was beaten, or well, if anything was happening really. She’d bet anything that if anyone besides this boy saw someone murder her out on the streets, no one would give her a second glance. Heck, they’d probably help them out. The thought caused tears to crowd her vision, but she tried bl[injection]ink them away. She was not going to cry.
“I--” she started to say, but stopped as she felt his hand cover hers. The soft smile on his face could almost chase away the dark thoughts of before.
As the words left his mouth, Aria couldn’t stop her jaw from dropping once again.
“W-what? Did you say... lovely?” Aria asked, trying to get his words to sink in. “But... everyone hates my hair. It’s... it’s why they did this...” she says, pulling up the sleeves of her pink shirt. After pushing the sleeves past her elbows, the burn marks were obvious, even in the dim light in the small alley.
Aria was no longer with the boy and the small alley. She was back in a small, wooden house. After being abandoned for years, Aria thought it’d be safe to hide out there for a day or two. The thing was, the house stank. Having no access to the outside world, the villagers had to keep their trash somewhere. Collectively, they all decided upon dumping their trash on the south side of town, right at the boundary. The wooden cabin now reeked of ninety-eight years worth garbage, piling higher than the house itself. The residents of the house couldn’t take the stench any longer, and had moved out.
As Aria was just about to fall asleep that night, she heard a group of loud, rowdy voices. Shrinking into the far corner, she waited for the voices to pass... only, they didn’t. The door burst open, smacking against the wall, causing Aria to jump. Loud, obnoxious laughter filled the cabin. A group of teens, a little older than she was at the time, looking to mess around, came to store their supplies in the cabin before heading out to go graffiti houses and such. As one of the teens light a match, they instantly spotted her.
Aria was brought back to the present as she felt a tear fall onto her hand. Focusing on her hand, she watches the tear roll off her pale skin and onto the pre-wrapped pastry.

Ryu's shrugged and looked at the girl. He had heard rumors about how the dryads had even gotten into the village, seeing as many were female. He heard mainly from some kind old women who didn't let their little hearts taint with the harsh words of the village against the dryads. He remembered them fondly. They treated his wounds and sometimes offered him a blanket or two during the winter months. Plus, they were the only ones who would talk to his the same as they talked to any other person in the village. They made him feel normal. He let a small smile creep to his lips. Oh how he wanted to visit their graves soon.
He shook himself from his thoughts and looked back up rue, chuckling a hit at her rushed words. The black cat poked its head around Ryu's neck, looking at Rue as well, curious about why his master had chuckled. "It's no trouble. I can always go find others because I can his my hair, plus, there is one human on my side here. Older woman, but still. He smiled at her and settled himself back down in the chair, leaning forward when the cat mewled, protesting when he tried to lean back. He looked up at Re with softer eyes.
"Don't be so nervous around me. Yes, I snapped at you, but that was something that happens often because of how secluded I've been from any kind of communication." He shrugged and smiled at her, his jade eyes seeming to glow with a happier emotion. Te cat in his hood meowed as if to confirm Ryu's statement. "This little guy has been my only friend in a while actually. Oh right! This is Kuma, my black cat. He keeps me calm." He smiled and nudged his head gently against the cat who was nudging its own head against Ryu's cheek.

Geonova blinked at the tear that had slipped down her cheek. It was surprising how one word could send her I to a frenzy and it actually freaked him out. He opened his mouth and shut it soon after, unsure as to what to say. He didn't really know how to comfort a person who was crying. He reached out to her face, about an inch from her face, he stopped and drew his hand back. He looked down at the burns and it stung his heart. Se as so lovely and yet, they did this to her. He shook his head and looked down at the burns to look at them a little closer. "I-I'm sorry..... They really did hurt you." He looked at the burns once more and gently grazed her arm with his finger tips.
"I have some too. Not burns, but scars.. On my back and chest. One on my eye too. Obviously." He perked up quickly and rummaged through his backpack before he pulled out a slightly ripped sketching pad, bound in old leather. He pulled out a pencil as well and flipped to a clean sheet. He looked up at Aria and then down at his sketch pad. He started sketching, looking up every once in a while at Aria's face. He smiled at himself andafter about ten minutes, he brushed off eraser shavings and extra lead. He smile and flipped the picture around, showing aria.
The picture was of Aria, however, she wasn't kneeling in a dirty alleyway in a village. She was actually kneeling, or sitting, in a field of tall grass, little flowers here and there. Her eyes were brighter and her hair fell over her shoulder a little cleaner and better than what it was, no offense to her. She was giving him a small smile. He smiled. "it's you. And yes, you're hair is lovely. It reminds me of a peaceful forest or the fields beyond the cursed border. " he smiled nod his eyes shone with a brightness that showed he was happy and pleased.

Bl[injection]inking fast, she tried to halt the flow of tears as she looked up at the boy. The boy seemed hesitant; about what, she wasn't sure. He opened his mouth, as if he was going to say something, but decided against it and shut his mouth. Then he reached out to her, stopping a few inches away, before pulling back. She tried to catch his eye, to smile and tell him she was alright, but he wasn't looking at her face anymore, but at her hideously scathed arms. She watched silently as he stroked her arm gently. His touch was warm, concerned, understanding; nothing like the icy, heartless flames that had eaten away at her pale skin. She wanted to bury herself in his arms; surround herself with the concern no one had ever shown for her. She wanted to forget the world and the pain, only for a while, even if it meant forgetting the father she used to love. Even if it meant forgetting anything that has ever made her happy. None of it compared to this moment; to this boy.
As the boy pulled away from her, she looked up to see him searching through his bag. After pulling out a worn sketchbook and a pencil, he created a whole other world. After about only 10 minutes of intense concentration and quick, expertly-placed lines, he flipped it around for her to see. It was her... and not her at the same time. The girl in the picture had the same ears, nose, face, body; but she was happy. Her hair was clean and utterly gorgeous. She had a healthy glint in her eye. But despite all this, Aria yearned for the luscious fields she sat in.
"Where is that?" she asked him eagerly. "I want to go there."
She could hardly contain her excitement as she grabbed her sweatshirt off the ground and hastily brought it down over her head. After popping her head through the opening, and pulling her hair out from underneath the black fabric, she picked up the package she dropped in her haste and handed it back to the boy.
"Here," she said. "I'll eat once we get there."
Ecstatic, she pushes herself up, ruffles the boy's long hair and bounds toward the alley's exit. Stopping about halfway, she looks back over her shoulder.
"Well? Come on then," she calls. "Oh, and my name's Aria, by the way."

Rue watched Ryu shrug without saying a word. The silence made her strangely uncomfortable. Usually silence would be bliss, it would mean no one was taunting or ridiculing her. However, now that she has found someone who wont do any of the harsh things she had to endure in life, Rue felt lonely with the slightest bit of silence. Then, all of a sudden, Ryu started to chuckle. A confused ex pression swept over Rue's featured, but cleared as soon as he spoke.
A hint of embarrassment swooped over her. The softness of his eyes and sudden choice of words only made it worse. Her dark eyes dropped from his bright ones. It was strange, it seemed that everything about Ryu seemed to glow bright; his hair, his eyes, his smile, his personality, even his cat seemed to have a natural glow about him. The only thing that seemed to glow about Rue was the embarrassment shown in her face.
She picked up her eyes from the floor and watched as Kuma and Ryu fawn over each other. The topic and Ideas of the Queen and the curse seemed to disperse in the moment. Even Rue seemed touched by the sight. A smile warmed her face as she cautiously and slowly made her way over to Ryu. She stood within arms length away from him. She didn't know why she was taking precaution to him, but she did. Suddenly she asked, "Can I pet him?" Her voice was small and curious, like an unsure child. What she really wanted to pet and admire was Ryu's hair that was so bluntly before her, but if she asked to do so, that would be very strange.

((sorry, had a lot of stuff going on last week.)) Nova tried ducking out of the way when she reached for his hair, but it was inevitable that she was going to touch it. He ducked his head a little, but more from tehe force of her hand down on his head. He gave a small pout which Aria obviously couldn't even see before he readjusted his hair amd pulled his hood over his eyes. He didn't want to be spotted right now, they'd both be in big trouble. He smiled at her from under his hood, which looked abit creepy to anybody looking at him, but he wasn't sure how it would affect Aria. He walked over to her and pushed his hood back, showing his eyes a bit. He held the pastery she had set in his lap and nodded. "I'll show you where it's at. It's not too far from here, promise." He smiled brightly and walked toward the exit of the alleyway. He looked over his shoulder at her. "And a little excitement it your voice suits you better than none what-so-ever." He smiled and turned to the exit, striding out into the morning sunlight once more. It was pretty bright now that the morning mist had started clearing and teh village was getting the sun now. He sheilded his eyes with his hood and looekd around, not wanting people to see him coming out of the alleyway. They'd probably all look at him until he said something that made them know he was a dryad. He shook his head and looked back at Aria. "Come on, now. It's not far, but that doesn't mean we can hang out for much longer than we need. "Aria.." Her named rolled off his tongue like they had known each other for a long time. It felt so natural for him to say another dryad's name for some reason. He liked the way her name rolled off his tongue and it made him actually laugh. He let out a nice laugh, one that was so natural. Like he laughed all his life, when he hadn't laughed in a while. He stopped and looked back at Aria. "Aria... Geonova. Call me Nova though." He gave her a smile and walked out farther away from the alleyway, stopping when he saw a child look at him before the kid ran off, probably to say he saw a weird guy in a cloak. He shrugged it off and knew he'd be fast enough to run from the person if they decided to attack him. 0-------------------------------------------------0

To say Ryu was a bit surprised that she even approached him was a small understatement. She had kept her distance from him from the start and now she was within arm's reach of him. He was about to reach out and actually touch her, just to see if she would react, when she spoke. Her voice was small, unsure, maybe a little scared, but there was no way to really tell. He shrugged slightly and reached behind him, grabbing his little cat friend by teh belly and bringing him over Ryu's head and in front. He held the cat out to Rue, the cat's feet dangling. He smiled slightly and nodded. "Yeah, be my guest." The cat meowed and started to struggle a bit, knowing that Rue didn't wanna touch it, but wanted to get closer to Ryu's hair. Cats have a weird sense or something. The cat purred and his tail swished around, trying to coaz Rue closer before the cat would make its move. The cat mewed and pawed playfully at Rue. ((sorry it's short! :'())

[[That's Fine! Mine is short as well, sorry.]]
Rue's eyes was focused on the black cat, his fur was as deep as the ace of spades, and looked as if it shone with incredible softness. Although, Rue knew, looks could be deceiving. And even though her eyes stayed put on the cat, Rue could feel Ryu's astonishment, because she too, felt the same. It was strange being close to another life form that didn't want to do harm to her. But it was also strange because she never would have guessed that she would stand so close to a boy, especially a boy of the same species.
Ryu reached for the cat and lifted him out of his hood. The cat now dangled between them. He was the only thing that prevented their touch. She had never touched an animal in her life, and was hesitant to do so now. In Rue's eyes, animals were closely related to humans, both of which being mammals, and since her hatred for humans runs in her veins she despised animals too. But Kuma was a special case, like Ryu was to her. If Ryu could befriend this... this... relative of the humans, than she would try too. With a deep shaky inhale Rue reached out her hand towards the cat and carefully put a gentle hand on his head, not sure what to do next.
