((Sorry! I hade finals and stuff... So yeah. It was.. difficult. But I'm back!))
The cat gave the girl a cat smile and nudged its head into Rue's palm, wanting her to pet him more. He could tell she was a bit hestitant to touch in the first place. He nudged his paw against her hand, the paw lightly scratching the back of her hand. He purred and bat at her hand, wanting to play. The cat jumped from his perch in Ryu's arms and dove for the bed, landed and rolled on it's stomach.
Ryu laughed and smiled at the cat fondly. "He wants you to pet his belly. He won't hurt you though." He chuckled slightly adn gently pet the cat's belly, feeling the little tuffs of hair. He shook his head a bit and nuzzled the cat once more, his white hair moving a bit with each move.

[[It's alright! It's that time of year where school and personal lives get hectic, so take your time you guys!]]
The cat seemed to take charge as he rubbed his head in her palm. The blissful face the cat had on was strange to her. When the cat started to paw at her hand and lightly scratch it, Rue pulled her hand back slowly, scared of what he might do. But she didn't have to worry about him any more, because the cat leaped towards the bed and rolled carelessly on it.
Ryu spoke, and although she was doubtful of the last sentence, she continued to take interest in the cat. Ryu reached out to the cat and started to pet and play with him. For a short while Rue studied the back of him. He truly looked like any other normal human boy, aside from his hair. However, there was something about him that was different from the rest. It wasn't the obvious; his hair, but something more.
Rue walked towards the bed and carefully sat down on it. Ryu and the cat were again arm length away. Rue looked at Ryu pet the cat, and she watched his hair slightly swing to and fro. The sight seemed so normal and comfortable, that Rue felt she was disturbing the peace. It was too late to do anything about that now. With a silent and shaky sight, Rue reached her hand out to pet the cat to. Her heart was racing with an emotion that seemed similar to fear. She put her hand on the cat's belly, and as far away from Ryu's hand as she could, and started to gently pet him. A smile lit her face. The first time in a long time, Rue actually felt happy.

The cat purred and went over to Rue's lap, curling up in the center of her lap. It purred happily and turned over on its back. His head was nestled on her lap and its body was completely laid out over her legs. It meowed happily and closed it eyes, dozing off lightly in the position it was laid out in.
Ryu's smiled slightly and slid off the bed and to the floor. His head was resting on his arms now. He felt like he should just leave the cat to make her more comfortable. He smiled at the sight and chuckled. "He seems to make you more comfortable. I'm glad you don't seem as scared." He smiled a bit and closed his own eyes. The cat made him sleepy. They seems to fall asleep at the same time and wake. They were doing much of everything at the same time.

[[Eh, it is fine Ru~ :)]]
The cat climbed in her lap and sat on her silky-like dress. Rue was a little astonished and unsure. For a moment, while Ryu found comfort on the floor, she just let the cat sit on her lap while she took precaution when petting him once more. However, she found herself more relaxed when watching and petting him, so she resumed to do so.
But when Ryu spoke her face flushed red. "O-oh. Yeah I guess." She stuttered a little at first and lamely answered. She had been embarrassed all morning. Just being around Ryu made Rue unsteady. And when his kindness was directed towards her well fare, her embarrassment increased. This wasn't necessarily a bad thing, however she has a tenancy to be harsher when this emotion was let out. Though Rue tried to stabilize the jitters that were multiplying inside of her with a simple change-of-the-subject, "So what other rumors have you heard about the Queen or the curse?"
Rue's face was shielded by her hair that fell around her face when she looked down. It was as black as the cats fur if not darker. And as she stoked the cat, her embarrassment started to cool down and she was able to lift her milky white face once more. Her deep eyes swept the room, for the millionth time, as she waited for his response. But the room contained nothing merely as interesting as Ryu's hair, so that's where her eyes remained. Studying it, for the millionth time.

[[Yuppers! c: A buncha sleep and some pretty gross cough meds helped a bunch. And thanks. :> Didya enjoy the holidays? ^^]]
The sound of Nova's laugh sent a wave of happiness over Aria. It was a beautiful laugh; one right from the heart. Although she didn't know what he was laughing about, she really wanted to hear it again. Then, as quickly as the happiness came, it was chased away by a sudden thought. "Wait," she whispers, reaching out and planting a hand on his arm. "You said it was close, but... I've lived out here all my life. There's no nature here. The whole village is dead." Her heart sank as she felt the realization settle in her bones. She knew she was right. It couldn't be possible; it couldn't be true. She would've remembered a place so alive, so beautiful. She squinted at the boy, trying to figure out what he was trying to do. As she studied the boy, she allowed for her thoughts to wander, trying to make sense of what was happening. Then, as one thought surfaced, she jerked away as if she'd been shocked. Aria's eyes widened as she stumbled back toward the safe cloak of shadows. "Is this place outside of the... uh... b- er, outside of the village? Because I was always told we couldn't leave here. I bet it'd really hurt if we broke the rules," she rambled, her voice trembling, her hands running along her scarred arms, chasing away the bad memory. "I-I don't want to get in trouble again." She started backing away from the boy. Was he trying to get her hurt? Did he hate her too? Was he planning on hurting her all along? Frantic, she backs away even farther, bumping into a trash bin. At the sudden contact, she screams and jumps away. In doing so, she ends up tripping over a cardboard box, resulting in her thin fr[injection]ame being sprawled out on the cold, alley floor. Aria gathers herself into a small ball, pulls her hood down over her eyes and brings her head down onto her knees, silently praying that the boy would walk away.

((Oh wow, sorry. I thought I had replied... O.o fail... And eternity is better!))
Ryu shifted so he could sit more comfortably and look at Rue at the same time. He looked at her and then scratched his head, shifting his locks to catch some sun that was straining through the boarded windows. "We'll, I heard that the girls.. Well, dryads I'm guessing were able to pass through the barrier. I mean, we're only teenagers and the cursed barrier was up way before we were born. According to the old woman I talked to. Then again, I think she's off her rocker.."
He sighed and rested his head on his folded arms. He picked at non existent lint and springs in the blanket. "But, you never know. We aren't exactly human, but we're not exactly dryad.. I wouldn't know if we could even bring the barrier down.." He sighed heavily this time and looked up at Rue from where he was. He followed her gaze and noticed it was over his forehead at least. His hair?
He squirmed a bit, u sure as to whether or not she liked it or it freaked her out. "A-are you interested in my hair? It's softer than it looks. It stands up like this by itself." His cheeks colored a bit at his own confession. He never had anybody look at his hair for a majority of the time he was around. They usual,y glanced at it then threw something at him or threatened him.
0------------------------------------0
Nova jumped when she started stumbling over things. He had tried reaching good her jacket, but missed and she tumbled over a box after hitting the trash can. He ran over to her and knelt at her side. He didn't really know what to do. She had curled in on herself and he was never this close to anybody. He felt like he should do some thing. But what? He wracked his brain for an idea, but nothing came to him. She was right about the village being dead, but he knew better.
His face dropped and he could feel himself getting sad. She was so hopeful that it was win the barrier. It wasn't. This was something he was remembering from an older woman showed him pictures of the work outside the barrier. It hit him! How to cheer her up! He flu g his pack off and he could hear one pastry squish and spurt out its filling. He rummaged through the pack and pulled out an old leather bound book. The pages had a square hole I the idle of them all.
"It's not i the village, but it is real.. Here. Take a look." He said calmly and unbound the books tie. He opened it and pulled out a series of old worn photographs. He held them out to her, brushing her hand with them. He carded his hand through a lock of her green hair and smiled. "Please look. I promise you this place is real."

As Aria huddled in her shadows, she heard the boy's footsteps as he moved, but she refused to look up. She didn't want to lift her head and see a satisfied smirk spread across his face; didn't want to see a mischievous glint in his beautifully strange eyes. For a while, all sound in the village seemed to have ceased, and she almost believed he'd left. But then she heard the soft thump of fabric hitting the cold floor and the muffled squish of what she assumed was one of the boy's pastries. As she heard the boy's quick, determined movements, she peeked at his through her thick, unruly hair. Was he going to finally kill her? Dread filled her heart as she watched Nova silently, waiting to see what he would pull out of his bag. As Aria's eyes finally set upon the ob[injection]ject in his hands, the dread ebbed away, replaced with a relief like no other.
Morphing into a less protective position, Aria watched Nova's hands work at the book's seal and ever so cautiously, pushed her hood off her head for a better view. She then watched as he pulled out photographs for her to see, but froze stiff as his hand ran through her hair. Though as he smiled, she relaxed again and took the pictures from his hand.
Squinting through the dim lighting of the alley, Aria runs her fingertips over the beauty scene fr[injection]amed in the black-and-white photograph. Her eyes flowed from one to another, drinking in the beautiful grass, plants, and trees they didn't have here in the village. It was real.
"I want to go here one day," she whispered, more to herself than to Nova. "As soon as I can leave, I'll live here forever."
Tears welled up in her eyes as she contemplated about how she could make this dream possible. Would this ever happen? Or was she stuck in this dead land forever?
"Do... do you think we'll ever be able to leave?" she asked Nova, looking up at him with her shiny eyes. As his face began to blur, she bl[injection]inked fast to try to halt her tears. She was being foolish. Rubbing the heels of her hands over her eyes, she takes a deep breath and shakes off her emotions.
Blushing, she looks up at him again. "I-I'm sorry. I don't know what got over me. I've just... been acting so weird lately."
Absently, she starts to stroke her long hair, voicing her drifting thoughts.
"You know, it's going to get cold soon. I don't like the weather, but my hair changes colour. It's one of the only things I look forward to," she says quietly to Nova, though she doesn't look at him, but she instead studies the ends of her long, green locks. "Funny thing is, my hair isn't supposed to be green, seeing as it's already late autumn. It didn't change with the seasons this time. I really don't know why. I think something may be wrong," she rambled absently, holding her hair up, trying to catch the light. "Is there something happening that you know of? I certainly don't. All I hear people talking about is some 'curse,' as they say. No idea what it means, buuut, it's all they can talk about." She giggled, remembering all the times she hid in the shadows, unseen, watching the worry on all their faces. They deserved to worry after treating her the way they have.
"Well," she prompted, "do you?"

Nova smiled at her and her little rumblings. He knew that one picture would help her at least cheer up some. He wanted to go there too. Lay in the tall grass and hope that the world would just forget he existed and leave him alone for once. He didn't like being treated like this, but it came with the race and the stunning eyes. He chuckled to himself. When she asked him questions, he looked at her, watching as she stroked her hair, held the locks up to catch sun. He smiled and sat down on the alley floor.
"We'll, from the same older woman who have that to me, apparently, they village hasn't been doing too well. The well is fine, sure, but that runs under ground and from the mountains way up north, the snow. Ya know? But the crops here are dying and people seem to be getting agitated. It's like, the season doesn't change within the barrier. Or, the people don't think it is." He shrugged and sighed. "Honestly, that came from one woman, but she might not be all there. I'm not sure what's going on though."
He let out a heavy sigh and stretched himself out. He wanted to see her hair change now. Was it white in the fall? When it snowed? Did it change to a normal brown or red like the leaves in late autumn or like the bare tree bark? "I'm sorry, but what color does your hair change to when it's autumn? You said it's not supposed to be green."

What Ryu was saying was really getting Rue interested. She felt no barrier between her and Ryu, well not like how it was before. Now that their conversation has started to mention her hopes and dreams, she felt as if she was starting to trust him more, along with the feeling that they were connecting. Although Rue usually denies her feelings and throws them out in the dark, with lots of consideration, she might even think of Ryu as a friend. However, the length of time it took her to feel this comfort towards him, was all quickly locked away with the simplicity of six words. And again Rue put an uncomfortable wall between them.
Rue was about to speak on the important matter at hand when Ryu spoke suddenly. Her face turned as red as a rose, her black eyes widened and she found something very interesting to look at on the floor. Her mouth was slightly agape from the astonishment and her voice was gone. There was a long silence that lingered in the air between them before Rue calmed down, though not very much. She glanced up slightly just to notice the pinkish color in Ryu's face too, then her eyes found that interesting thing on the ground once again.
Her mind was still racing. She didn't know if what he said was his way of sugar coating what he really felt, which, to Rue, could be anything. She didn't know if he hated her now or if he is ashamed to have taken her in in the first place. Her overwhelming embarrassed over this small situation brought out absurdness from her parted lips. "I-I" There was a short pause between her shaky words. The truth was that she couldn't find the actual words she wanted to say. However the frustration just built up inside of her and she needed to let off some steam before she would explode (which would be insulting to ones ears and dangerous to ones trust). "Gah! What is up with you? First you are kind to me, then you suddenly change to being cold hearted, as if you never saw the warmth of the sun. Then, again with the suddenness you become as warm as the sun with your kindness, and now, now!, with the important matter at hand of getting out of this cursive village you make this sudden accusation?! And to think I have trust issues!" Through all her ranting, she had forgotten the fact that she had actually seen him blush, and that by what he had said, he had meant to be taken lightly, not at all how Rue took it.
Right after she had said that and criticized him, she felt horrible, and with the last part of her rant she knew she over stepped it this time. Rue knew that if she didn't apologize now that he would never forgive her, though she was unsure if this time he would even forgive her. And for some strange reason she felt as if she was going to lose him, and she couldn't bare that thought. She gathered up some courage and and with a red face, she spoke looking him full in the face when she apologized, "I-I'm sorry. I keep doing this, I keep yelling at you for no reason at all. What I have said and have claimed is not how I truly think of you. This whole time I have been the one to accuse, sorry. I guess it's just that- that you say the strangest things and it throws me off. I could have all the confidence in the world and with a single word you can take all of that away from me. Its not your fault, of course. Its- its. Its just that you say things so suddenly that I don't know how to react. Its amazing how one person can do all that..." This was by far the most she has opened up to anyone, the longest personal conversation that she had ever spoken, ever dreamt of speaking.
However, her courage didn't burn out just yet, she still had a bit more to add, "And as for your hair, well, its beautiful and I was admiring it, I have ever since I met you. Haven't you noticed how much it fascinates me? The reason why I hate when you have your hood up is because it's the thing that makes you special on the outside, and I can't stand to see it hidden away. I- I feel when you put your hood up to hide your hair that you are hiding that special aspect about you. That somehow the special part of you on the inside will also disappear, so it cant shine anymore." Rue was afraid of his reaction towards the apology and towards her rant. She wanted desperately to drop her gaze and accept the shame.
Through all of this, Rue has finally realized her thoughts and feelings towards Ryu. She trusted him and as doubtful as she may be, it seemed as if he was her friend.
[[I was initially going to put her response towards the curse in this post, but by the time I got done with her little rant, the post was already so long... I guess I will post it next time around ^^ And on the side note, I wasn't intending to make Rue's rant so harsh, it just all came out that way, and I kept it because I think it fits Rue well.]]

((That's fine. Ryu might change between his moods though. He bases his own reactions in those others give him.))
Ryu sat there, staring at her as she suddenly found his wood floor very interesting. He couldn't tell if he had insulted her or just made her realize that she was staring at his locks. He couldn't be certain. She did look up after a bit a Che was going to speak, but she beat him to it. He sat there, mouth gaping a bit and eyes wide. She was practically yelling at him. Saying things he hadn't meant or at least hadn't meant for her to take the way she did. Why did he even say? His heart was pounding and it drummed in his ears. It hurt.
For all that was wrong with what she was saying, his ex pression went sour. His eyes went back to their normal shape, but by no means the right shade. They were dull, lifeless, hard jade eyes. They seemed to trap light rather than reflect it. His mouth shut with a snap of his teeth and they even bit down into his bottom lip. He didn't mean those things that way. She was twisting his words, making him seem like the bad guy. She didn't want to trust him after all. He tried, oh he did try. He was kind, just like the older lady taught him to be. He let her take shelter from those humans that did nothing but attack them. He gave her food and let her into his home, his sanctuary. He allowed her to even pet his little bundle of heaven. The black cat kept him calm, but it wasn't helping now.
Her apology went over his head, over his locks, through the window. He didn't hear it. He stood abruptly, causing his cloak to stick closer to his body. He jaded eyes not looking at anything. "You think I have trust issues? You think I never feel the warmth the sun gives? You think. I. Accuse. You. When you've been staring at my hair almost since you've been with me." His voice wasn't warm. The words were frosted in ice, not enough to be cold, which was where he was heading. He looked at her, his eyes continued to stare at her. They weren't warm either. He wasn't glaring, but it was close. Her comments about his hair seemed to get to his ears, but they did little to dampen his mood.
"My hair is what's getting me beat. Ridiculed. Almost beaten to near death. I've had sharp objects thrown at me. Burns." He ran his hands through his hair before he roughly grabbed his look and practically tore the black material from his shoulders and body, revealing the clothes under. His short sleeves shirt showed off the burn marks he received from one particular day, they were faded by now, but they were still there. There were a few scars, white with age. "You see. This is why I have trust issues. Why I have no way to know how far to go with talking, I don't get treated like a human. I don't get sympathy or any kind of kindness. My own emotions are not even right!"
Ryu ran his hands through his hair and grabbed at the snowy locks, pulling at them a bit. His emotions were so messed up and it was frustrating him. He hated being frustrated, mad, angry, sad, anything else other than caring. One of his eyes released a lone frustration tear and it slid down his cheek and hit the floor. Be shook his head. "I'm sorry I'm unstable. I'm sorry I'm not someone you can look to. I'm not human for y own sake! I can't be warm and caring when I've got none in return," he was panting by then and he dropped back go the floor, never letting his eyes look up again. "I'm sorry I yelled..."
The cat stirred and opened its eyes, noticing that Ryu was on the floor now. The cat looked at Rue and meowed sadly, hoping for her to do something! He meowed again and looked at his white haired master.

Aria nodded along as he talked, staring down at the floor between them, thinking. It kind of scared her not knowing what was wrong, especially since it had a direct effect on her. It didn't cause her any pain or anything, but what if this meant something big was coming? All she was doing was collecting dust in a dark, dirty alley with some stranger. No, not a stranger. With Nova. She lifted her eyes and regarded the boy. She'd already asked him why he was helping her, but she was itching to ask again. Ever since her hair started acting the way it did, everyone seemed to hate her. Nova was different. Not just because of his stunning eyes, but something inside. She could tell. She was curious as to why he didn't feel the hate as the others have. Was his heart too pure? She reached out to him, about to place her palm on his heart when he spoke. Blushing, she slowly pulled her hand back, hoping he hadn't noticed. Staring down at the floor again, she listened to Nova silently. When he finally finished talking, her eyes lit up.
"Oh yeah, it's not. In the winter, my hair becomes this really pretty, pure, snowy white, right? But in the autumn, it's always a surprise since the leaves take on various colours. Every year is different. It's actually really fun to watch the colours change." Then she paused, pouting. "Too bad it didn't change this year."
She fiddled with her hair some more, braiding and unbraiding, but her hands froze as something occurred to her.
"You know, I can't believe I didn't ask you sooner, but, uh, you know that tree down thataway," she said, pointing down in the direction of the village center, though the alley wall obscured their view. "Anyway, uh, do you know what the deal is with that tree? I-it doesn't seem right. Something's off about it. I really don't think it's a normal tree. Plus no one ever goes near it. Ever."
She paused, looking up at him to study his reaction. "I mean, I think maybe we should do something, you know? Do you think it's sick?" She felt a pang of sadness as she thought about the possibility. "It's kinda like me. Something's different, and they hate it for that reason."
"You know, you're a great listener," her voice softening as she changed topics, taking his hand in her, running her thumb over the back of his. "I have to thank you for it. Never would have realized I liked talking so much." She chuckled. "Okay," she said, "I'll let you talk now."
