Ari's ears pricked as she sat on the rock. Not pauying attention, she pricked her finger with the needle, sticking the diget in her mouth with an old, mostly silent curse. I hope 's not the boys, she thought, then grinned. But if t'is, I wont grudge 'em of their fun. She fell into her canine form and stuffed the green clothe in a hole between the roots of a tree before slinking about. Ari pressed her wings in tightly to her body.

Silent leaned against a tree and smiled grimly, flicking the knife back and forth. "What hawk lands in front of a human? Maybe a demented one, but it's a rare chance it'll land. More like fall and die." He said in a cool voice. He sighed. "What do ya need?" He asked, his slightly different accent slipping in. It was cool and almost like a feral purr.

Ariana walked along a long brick wall, sticking close to it, always standing in its shadow. She brushed a lock of blonde hair out of her eyes in frustration, sighing when it fell back into place. This repeated itself several times, until she finally relented and tied her hair back in a ponytail. Then the wall came to an end, an iron gate in its place. It was open, so she walked through. She was now in the park, the only place where she could hear nothing but silence, and when you have heightened hearing as all vampires do, silence is always welcome. � She walked into the small wooded area and swiftly climbed up into a tree, jumping from one branch to the next with impossible speed, stopping only when she heard voices. She quickly crouched, holding onto the branch with both hands. She concentrated on the voices, absorbing what they said. There was a boy and a girl, the female a shfter, but the boy was smething different altogether, a smell she could not identify. She decided that they were no threat to her, and dropped from her perch and walked up to them, not saying anything. |

Ari trotted forward, scaled hindlegs glittering. She stopped, seeing that the people were not, infact, boys. They did not even smell....human. A soind close to dissappointment sounded from her as she sat at the edge of the trees and watched, red eyes sparkling with curiosity as her lynx-like ears swivled forward. Ever the picture of something strange listening into conversations.

[[This is actually a semi-long post... O.o I got distracted and just let myself type. >.< Sorry if it's too long. I usually try to avoid this sort of thing so people can understand what I'm typing.]] Challis was her true form, that of a Gryphon- hardly more than the size of a pony. The problem with being a Gryphon was that Gryphons aged slower than humans. It had been years before she'd even had her flight feathers, not to mention the adequate size to be able to fly at least moderately safely. She'd never understand how Gryphons in the olden times had been able to survive in the wild- aging slowly, unable to eat any form of meat until their human age was at least five years... Though, back then, they didn't have human forms. They remained Gryphons, never even trying to change to a human. They had been dignified and noble. Completely wild. Challis was still fully Gryphon, but though she had the eagle-like habits and a bit of the fierceness, she was what some might call "tame". Though she was still fully Gryphon, and her human guise was just that- a guise- she had become accustomed to the ways of humans. Then a series of smells hit her nose, definitely not human, though it varied for some. Nor was it the scent of any animal she’d ever heard of. Normally, at this height, even the sharp nose- or beak- wouldn’t be able to distinguish the smell of anything, unless she specifically focused on it. If she tried, she could smell the horrible smell of car gas, the sharp tang of orange peels laying on the sidewalk, and even the odd, greasy smell of the humans who spent their days walking on the streets- or the disgusting, sickeningly sweet scent of shampoo that humans used to mask their true scent. But this was natural. She wasn’t searching for it, it had just… hit her. Swerving downwards in a rapid spiral, she landed in the park, in the shade of several trees. Quickly, she changed into a human. Speckled brown, sparrow-like feathers, sharp golden eyes, and hard black beak were turned into pale skin, brown eyes, and a human face. The human form was nonde- Bony, unusually short- so as to deflect any suspicions. That’s what she’d always been taught. She could have made the human form differently, but this was her main one. Fitting in completely, the form was perfect. Plus, it naturally smelled like her. A dog barked, growling and bristling fiercely as she stepped out from the trees’ shade and into the sunshine. It tore at its leash and growled, lips quivering and eyes glinting wildly, like flint. The woman holding the leash shot it an astonished look, then looked over at Challis. “I’m so sorry. He doesn’t normally act this way.” Challis just gave a knowing smile. “It’s fine.” She was used to it. The dogs recognized her scent as that of a predator- though the dim-witted mammals, turned dumb by years of breeding- didn’t understand what. They just went with their instincts. That was partially why Challis preferred cats. Their personalities were much more akin to that of a Gryphons- they did what they wanted, when they wanted, and no one, not even a human, was going to stop them. Hence them not minding her. Challis walked casually, then began running as fast as a Gryphon could fly- down towards the strange scents.
