Kiete shook his head in disappointment. He slowly trotted towards the death thang, touching it with his iron horn. The bird reanimated to life, squawked at Shadow, and hopped away. Kiete turned his head and looked at Shadow with his blazing eyes. "He has just as much the right as you and I. There was no reason for that."

Kiete nudged Shadow, then went off on his merry way into the forest.

Kiete slowly made his way through the trees, when he heard a roaring sound. He ignored it at first, but as time progressed he knew it was a lion. And that lion was close. He heard the steady panting of a mammal nearby, and immediately his black mane and tail lit on fire, igniting nearby shrubberies that took so long to find for Monty Python. He realised he had just started a forest fire, and bounded out of the forest, and he nearly knocked Shadow over. "Fire! Run!"

Kiete screeched to a stop on a stone, and raced back to get Shadow. He nudged his head under his stomach and got her ontop of his back with difficulty. "Imagine you are in a field." He began galloping in a balanced way. "Rabbits and birds everywhere." He used his iron abilities to cover her from the heat. "Nice rain dripping from every cloud." He made his way to his cave he owned at the other side of the forest, laying Shadow down on a mattress of honey grass. He created a sort of wall to keep the fire out. "No fire in sight."

Kiete's eyes glowed in the dark cave, and he slowly approached Shadow. He lay down beside her, hoping to both keep her warm and calm and to persuade her it was safe.

Kiete lay his head on the ground beside Shadow. "I carried you. By the way, what have you been eating that gets you so heavy?" He laughed in a metallic sort of way.

Kiete nodded. "Yeah, just lay off the hedgehogs, will you?"

(I laughed so hard just then I almost peed myself.)

Kiete didn't reply, just glad the fire couldn't catch them anymore.
